He is running for the fourth congressional seat. And thank you for being here today. Yeah, Kelly, thanks for having me. And yeah, my little signs here. His new signs. Yes, the new and improved. I love it. And this was... Yeah, with a QR code. Yep, got the QR code right there. Should work through the screen, maybe. It should.

[00:01:30] But yeah, like I said, I'm running for the U.S. House of Representatives, Tennessee's fourth congressional district. And veteran-owned company making my signs. It's Patriot Prince out in there, actually in Moore County in Tullahoma. They got a Tullahoma address out there. But yeah, great, great folks to work with out there. And they've been banging out my signs and they did the new design. I like that. I love it. So if you're looking for a veteran company to do signs, I would recommend them. There you go. [00:01:59] We do. We have several things. So first and foremost, coming up, June 20th. This is Juneteenth. It's officially tomorrow. So it's a busy, busy weekend for all. And you're just one of the many. But your event is not going to be here in Warren County. It's going to be in Coffey County, correct? In Coffey County, correct. So talk about it's your next town hall that you're doing because that's one of your many promises you've made to your campaign. My commitment to the fourth district is quarterly town halls.

[00:02:28] And this will be the third one that I've held. And this is in Coffey County. Again, it's pretty centrally located. There's a veterans building out there located at 130 Shelton Road in Manchester. It's really cool out there. Yeah, it's a great building to come check out and just what those veterans in Coffey County do. We're going to open the doors at 9 a.m., 9.30. We've got a representative for Monty Fritz. And this is a Republican event.

[00:02:56] But we invited all three gubernatorial candidates to show up. The only ones that replied, well, no, John Rose's campaign did say they'd look into it. But then we didn't hear back. Marsha Blackburn, we never heard anything from. And then Monty Fritz, they said he's going to have a representative there. So the deal was if they want to sit on the stage and answer questions. I think you've got someone trying to come in over here. I think she's for you. She's got a sign. Oh, that's not for me.

[00:03:26] No. That's for my other guests. Daughter came in for the win right there. Love it. But go ahead. So Monty Fritz will have a rep there to talk. But the deal was if they wanted to be on the stage, they had to be there in person. And they're busy. They're covering an entire state. And I appreciate Monty Fritz actually replying to us and having someone there. And then also the John Rose campaign for actually replying and looking into it. A reply is better than nothing. Absolutely.

[00:03:53] And then after that, so we get, we're slotted out half an hour for that. Yeah. That guy or whoever shows up for Monty Fritz is not going to talk for 30 minutes. No, no, no. But just for the changeover when we go to the congressional candidates, which again, all four Republican primary candidates were invited. Myself, obviously, it's my event. I will be there. And then Harold Rocky Jones and Joshua James. Scott Desjardins. We did not even get a reply from him.

[00:04:22] So he hit the deadline date, came and passed. Yeah. And I know he's in town. He was. He's out running around the district. Not now. Yeah, not now. I mean, that's my breaking news post that we were going to say. It's all right. It's all right. No. We can break into that. We could. Let's go. So July, let me explain this. So July 10th is, yeah, July 10th is going to be our, mark your calendars, our community

[00:04:49] forum and debate that we're going to have on Friday. And I can't remember the time right now, but I apologize. But with that said, we have tried our best to get out all the information to every candidate, every, anybody that is running up in this up and coming election, that's going to be on the primary and as well as the local elections.

[00:05:15] And so the only one on Tom's end that has been the hardest has been, and I hate to say it, and I know it's a, you know, rip the bandaid off, but it has been Scott Desjardins. And when me and Sydney did the whole email process, it's still saying that we have forbidden, it's forbidden. So I don't know what we typed in wrong or not. We also have reached out to family members that are friends, that are friends with family members to reach out to Scott Desjardins.

[00:05:45] And this is why I want to just jump right into this. This is our first breaking news. I may have to update, but I'm showing five o'clock for your, for the Warren first candidate form. I think that's right. I don't know, but, but thank you for looking that up for me. I'm showing to be, for me to be there at five, my calendar is showing it starts at 530. Yeah. I was going to say, I thought I did it in the 30 mark. All right. But with that being said, our breaking news post or message here in just a minute is

Now, with that being said, being breaking news, I was yesterday, we have two things breaking, but let's talk about this one first. I was in Murfreesboro and coming home from Murfreesboro, my phone's getting blown up of two different things. But one specifically was, did you know that Scott Desjardins was in town? Like everybody was like in shock that Scott Desjardins was in town. And I said, no, I'm so sorry.

[00:06:44] And then when I came in and I got to look for the information of, cause there is some sites that I am blocked from and that is just how it goes. But a certain media company in our town hosted an event with Scott Desjardins. And what you were telling me, what you found, it was a legislative. I don't know what they pitched that. I'm just saying that's for, as a, as a candidate, because in, and you talked earlier about, you know, FCC rules given the same amount of time to each candidate.

[00:07:13] You give one, you got to give it to the other. And so, but the, the get around is it's a legislative update. He's not campaigning. Yeah. So I don't know how it was framed. I just broadcast it live. Yes. And I've got the link. I have to watch it still. And that was the thing that a lot of people, yeah. And me and you were talking about this offer. A lot of people that talked to me and talked to you was upset that the invitation wasn't extended to let other people know, like the veterans, they were upset, right?

[00:07:42] That would have been, well, and I know I was, but like, that would have been nice to know that my, my rep was here to talk about this VA clinic because I do have some questions. Yeah. And I'm, I'm a little, uh, and even not as a candidate, but as a veteran and talking to my, my fellow veterans, you know, it would have been good to have some of us in the room, but I, I have emailed out to the VFW and the American Legion. And I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was in town and it's been crickets.

[00:08:08] I got one reply saying, Hey, I think this was at the, at the mall because of the opening of the health care, which it was not down there. It was, it was over at, uh, that, that, yeah, where it was. And so, uh, yeah, it would have been good to have some veterans there. It would, and the other media companies could have been invited because it's a big deal. At the end of the day, whether you like Scott Desjardins or not, it is a big deal when somebody from Washington comes down here and we want to talk. Yeah.

[00:08:37] Well, and that's kind of how it works for, for Congressman Desjardins is that it's very controlled events. He does not. And so I can tell you, this is how it goes. I mean, he popped up, nobody knew. Right. And especially those that are concerned with, and that are impacted by the closing of that VA clinic. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I've kind of seen the thing and I'll, I'll, I'll see if I can see the crowd, but how many veterans were in there? Yeah. You know, how many curious on that? So that would be, that would be my question over there.

[00:09:04] But then the, the only other times I've seen him in, uh, Warren County has been last year at the Reagan day dinner. That's right. And it was the last minute that he was able to, to push his way. He didn't say. He just, he did a little speech in the lab. Nope. That's what he does. And that's where I was talking about a legislative update because I was for that particular Reagan day dinner. I, I was not on the list of, you know, guest speakers or whatever, but Congressman Desjardins pushed his way on the stage the day of the event. Yeah.

[00:09:33] And it was a legislative update. Wasn't campaigning. Right. So it's like, okay, fair enough. But then, yeah, he, he gets up, says this thing. And then as soon as we started, all right, it's time to eat. His whole table is like a dine and dash, man. Yeah. Like, I mean, I know you, I know you had to pay before you got there. So it was all good. But yeah, he didn't stay and talk. And I've seen him do that at other places. And then additionally, that's like, so Warren County, the only other time I've known of him being here was the opening of the armory. And that was another deal.

[00:10:01] He just, he just shows up because he doesn't want people. That's my impression. And you know, at the end of the day, I want to say this. If you are a busy person and we're all busy, right? But if you just pick a couple events to like sit there and just sit a while and communicate, then they understand if you have to come in and go, come and go. Because I have to do that to a lot of my events that I go to because sometimes I book myself and Sydney's got onto me where I'm not allowed to do more than three events a day. But then I don't tell her about the other two or three.

[00:10:33] But with that being said, it's just say what you want about anybody. And it was specifically Scott Dajla. But it would have been really nice to be able to go and talk to him face to face and ask him questions. And, you know, and I'm not, and I understand we, with the controlled environment, you know, the safety and things like that. But when you put out an invitation, you know, they, they bet at the end of the day, when you have higher up people coming from Washington, even if it was the president, you do get vetted

[00:11:02] people that can come in and cannot come in. It happens. Yeah. This is like very, very controlled. Who gets to show up? Who gets to ask questions? So, and like I said, I haven't, I'm going to be curious to see what kind of questions we ask and to listen to his answers. And if it was more of like a meet and greet type situation or an update. Yeah. And that's kind of what it sounds like is, is that. Well, let me know. Yeah, I will. Because I won't be able to watch that one now. Yeah.

[00:11:27] But what we hear now and what I've seen him do in particular with the VA clinic is take credit for it staying open. Yeah. And that's not the one thing. That irritates me to no end because it was John Rose that actually picked it up. He was the head signature. Yeah. Started the hard inquiries into the VA about what's going on. Yeah. And he did sign on second. And so maybe, you know, when he realized what a big issue this would be for him politically, then maybe he got engaged. Yeah.

[00:11:55] But his first, and it should still be up on his Facebook page, but his initial letter was basically just throwing his hands up. Oh, I didn't know. And then we, and that's even another issue. What have you done to correct this problem that you didn't know? Yeah. The answer is no. He's done nothing. And onto that veteran topic, you know, and I've talked to Tom about this and several other people, Harold Blow and everybody. We've been working on this project with several. It's not just a Ward first project or a Tom Davis project.

[00:12:21] It is a slew of people that have come together and I will include Desjardins because he was signed on that letter with Rose, but it's not one person's thing. And cause you know, when we were at the veterans breakfast in Spencer the other day, people are like, Oh, we're so grateful that you started this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And I had to reassure them. I'm like, no, people are using my platform, whether it's you, whether it's Harold, like

[00:12:48] just use my platform for whatever I need to do. And, and so this has been a huge, huge group effort. And I still, I want to give credit where credit is due. The only reason I knew about it is because somebody, uh, I'm not somebody, Michael Woodley from Van Buren County posted on the McMinnville chatter page and somebody from McMinnville snapped a picture of it, sent it to me and said, have you, do you know this person? And you know what I did?

[00:13:17] I went directly to that man's page and now me and him are like brother and sister. I consider, I got a brother from Van Buren County now. And Michael is such a nice guy. He's going to try to come on the show. He's so busy right now. But Michael Woodley for me was what started it for me. I don't know if anybody else noticed that, but it was not, it was brought up then. And then I got with Harold and, you know, and it just started trinkling.

[00:13:41] But again, no one should take full credit for this and use that as, and this is another thing I don't like about campaign stuff is using other people's work to push you in a campaign. Yeah. And it's not just one person. A lot of people do it. It's not, and so you just, that's why I always tell people, do your research, look at your candidate. You need to look at how Tom lives his life, his values, his principles, whatever you want

[00:14:11] to call it and see, is he going to be the best representative for me? And then you can also go back and I can't think of the website right now. You can go back and see how your representatives vote in certain, in certain call to where they call it. I want to say call the council, but they go when they have their meetings, their big meetings and they have to vote. I don't know. Yeah. And that's one, I mean, you can go look at Congressman Desiree Lay's website and it

[00:14:38] shows on there, but also the House of Representatives posts that also. And you need to look at how they vote to see where your money goes. At the end of the day, Tom Davis is not my boss. If Tom wins, I'm Tom's boss. Yeah. So I have an issue with how my taxpayer dollars go. I'm not going to complain to, you know, somebody that's not on the board. I'm going to email you. I'm going to call your office because I am, I'm the one that elected you in. Right. Right. So I need to, you know, or whatever.

[00:15:07] So at the end of the day, you need to remember whether it's local, state or federal. Yeah. These are the people you vote in. And if you have a problem, and I always say this, you catch more bees with honey. Don't throw salt out at them. Be cordial. Be facts over fiction. Knowledge over noise. So talk to them respectfully because they are a local or whatever official they are and try to find the answers.

[00:15:35] And if you don't find the answers, like he said, go to the House of Representatives website. Go to their website. Look at the voting records. And then we also have to understand, and this is something I've said and I've been asked about, but I do have a say in it. I do have an opinion. I do have my own set of values. And we have to understand that we may not necessarily be in that majority. So this district now, even redrawn, covers almost 800,000 people. Right.

[00:16:01] So at times, we will not be on that side of like, okay, I'm voting yes. Like, I want you to vote no. Well, I'm voting yes because most of the people want a yes vote. Yeah. And we have to be, you know, understand that. And if you get to a point where there is a problem, then you do things like you're talking about. You call, but then you get to a point where you're not seeing any action. You then run for Congress to change that. That's right. Because that's what I looked at was his votes.

[00:16:27] And I'll tell you, he's voted yes, transgender affirming care in the military, which that's not a taxpayer thing to be paying for. And I served almost 25 years in the Army, and it is a detractor. And now he's voted yes to, he's saying he's okay with covering up the sexual misconduct that goes on in Congress. I don't know if he's, if he's perpetrating any of that stuff, but he's okay with the cover up because that resolution, he voted to send it to committee to die.

[00:16:55] And then the other thing I noticed was, is it called the PAC money? Is that how, is that? Yeah. Yep. And you know, I started deep diving in the PAC money thing because that, that is actually public knowledge. No, it is. You have to file, you have every quarter you file with the federal election commission. Yes. And that's one of the things that I get asked about a lot is AIPAC, and that's Israel. Oh, yeah. Yep. And can you explain what that is? Yeah. That's basically Israel buying congressional representatives, is my opinion of it. And it reflects in how they vote.

[00:17:25] And that's another vote coming up is our National Defense Authorization Act. Is that just another version of lobbyists? It is. Okay. Is that what that is? And that's how they do it, is through these political action committees. So then they donate to campaigns and Congressman Desjardins has accepted money from this PAC. And not only, not only AIPAC, but then you start looking at other ones, pharmaceuticals, you know, just your big corporations that contribute, donate, and it's buying access.

[00:17:53] Because when you look at all the state and federal leaders, how much they make, which again, a state representative, I think only makes like 30 to $35,000 a year. And I'm like, why would anybody want to run, you know, that, you know, and to put up with, you know what I mean? Yeah. But then you look at how much money they get from lobbyists. Yeah. And I'm like, oh. And then also the, I call it an allowance, but I think it's called severance.

[00:18:20] And then the allowance that they get from the mileage, the shirt, you know, the swag. There's a whole thing that they get. And I'm like, okay, now this is coming to fruition. Yeah. You'll get a per diem for travel. Yeah. You know, to and from. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I couldn't remember the technical term. But, you know, again, this is stuff you guys have from now till July 6th. Now, if you do early voting, July 17th through August the 1st is early voting.

[00:18:46] And then August the 6th is the last day for voting for the local races. And then the primary, whether you're Democrat or Republican, independents are going to be obviously moved on. But if you are a Republican or Democrat, your primary for federal positions is up in August the 6th. So you've got to vote for who's going to best represent you.

[00:19:12] Any final thoughts, your last final thought of the day before we let you go for our next guest? Yeah. Again, thanks for having me. You're welcome. I call him my fun uncle. He's my funcle. But some of the worst voters that we have are Christians and gun owners. And it's primaries is where you have to vote. I won't try and go into numbers on the back end of it here. Yeah. But you look at the difference between how many people vote in primaries and then how many vote in the general.

[00:19:40] The primary, and I'll tell you right now, even with the redistricting, the race for the Tennessee's fourth congressional district is the Republican primary. And whoever wins that, chances are probably better than 70%, 80%, or even 90, that they will be your next congressional representative. And again, you know, vet all the candidates. Here you can hit the QR code, Tom Davis. Scan it. Yeah. There you go. I'll even do this while you're talking. Go ahead, Tom. All right.

[00:20:09] We'll get closer for you, so it's not too difficult. But the best place to follow me right now is Facebook, Tom Davis for Congress. Yeah. And then, yeah. So the 20th of Saturday, we'll be in Coffey County. And then I'll be posting out some stuff as I round out my calendar. And I'm just going to, you know, start, go out. Door knocking up. Door knock. We're going to be doing that tape for some of our tapes. And set up at the, you know, the places where people gather. Yeah. But it's Republican primary voters.

[00:20:35] And if you vote Republican, show up in the doggone primary if you want somebody other than Scott DeGerle. Show up and show up. I always say this. My final thought is quit doing the lip service and start using your fingers to punch in those numbers. Yeah. And then the other side is because we were a lot of talk on the VA clinic, but make those calls. Yeah. And make it stay in front news. And we've seen he's now showing up in McMinnville to talk about the VA clinic. Keep calling the other ones. Marsha Blackburn in particular. John Rose.

[00:21:04] Well, John Rose won't come. Well, no, he might. He has come. Yeah. Yeah. He's been here. But all of them, the congressional or our congressional delegation. He's the only one that's actually responded to us about it. So, so Bill Haggerty and let him know what an issue that this is a huge issue. Yeah. And then, and bring them here. Let them make them. And Collins actually also responded to us. Okay. Yeah. So, yeah, just stay engaged. And yeah, again, thank you for the time. And you're welcome. Guys.

[00:21:30] Guys, remember early voting is July 17th through August the 1st. And then also, excuse me, August the 6th is going to be the last day for you to vote, which again, polls. And it has been, these are what I call my Super Tuesday segments. Yes, I understand. It's not Tuesday. But Tuesday is normally when they do the big votes.

[00:26:30] And so that's why I call them my Super Tuesday segments. And I'm so grateful and thankful, finally, that we have the one and only Miss Monty Hillis in here with us. And Wesley did a solid this morning and she brought your sign in. I love it. Lindsay. Oh, I didn't. Okay. Sorry. Thanks, Lindsay, wherever you went to. But you have, of course, let's talk about the being at Bobby Ray, the principal for so, how many years?

[00:26:59] 12 years. 12 years. And then finally deciding, like what made you finally decide, you know, is it even called retire? Like quitting? It is retirement. It is retirement. Okay. I have three days left. Oh, my gosh. So what made you decide to retire? I'm going to call it semi-retire because once you win this, it's not going to, you know, as I say when you move forward.

[00:27:25] But when you go semi-retired and you go into working for the school board, like what made you decide to do that? Like what was your motivation? So retiring, deciding to retire was a big decision for me because I still love what I do. Right. And I'm seeing lots of changes with that. But there were just a lot of things that, you know, little things that would be like, I'm kind of getting tired of that. And I had such good help coming along.

[00:27:55] So Sadie Newby is going to be the new principal at Bobby Ray. So, yeah, I had said before that if they had not made a good choice there, I might have backed out. But she is fabulous and she loves our school like I do. So she and Candy Seals are going to be great there. She seems like a sweet soul. I feel wonderful about that. But then thinking about me personally, my mom is 95.

[00:28:22] I still have a sister here in the community that helps take care of her so much. And I have eight grandchildren, three of now who have graduated. Oh, my God. No way. And so I was thinking, you know, I've got to move to a different place where I can go and do some of the things with them. More flexible. And be able to do that. But not really ready to just call it quits. Yeah.

[00:28:51] So then Mr. James Bennett, who gave me my first job as an assistant principal at the high school. In fact, he called me in the last day of school several years ago and said, hey, you want to be the next assistant principal? And I said, I've never even thought about that. Yeah. And so I've been so blessed to have had wonderful mentors through my life.

[00:29:18] And, you know, one of my go-tos has always been Medora Wilmore. And so I went to Sweet Medora and said, what do I do? And she said, well, come out. I went and spent the night with her at the river and talked things through. And she said, you need to give it a go. I wasn't even certified yet. Yeah. So spent that summer getting prepared and went into that and loved, loved that, loved being at the high school.

[00:29:47] And then moved to Bobby Ray and have loved every minute of it. But just knowing time to move on. And then back to Mr. Bennett, he, I think they were having some health issues. Of course, he has and Courtney has. Yeah. And when he decided that he was retiring, I had said just to my family, you know, this might be something I might want to run for school board. That'd be your time. One of these days.

[00:30:17] And then when we heard that that was going to happen, I said, I think this is my sign. So. I call it God winks. Like when you get that sign, like, okay, I get it. Thank you. And you have this peace and awe. Yeah. And so actually that happened in about a week's time. Yeah. Because it kind of just sprung. I felt like it for me watching it in fruition sprung up because he turned in his papers and then, you know. Yeah.

[00:30:46] So in that time, you know, sit down with the kids. What do y'all think about this? They were like, you've been talking about it for years. Yeah. This is obviously the right time. So it just kind of happened. And I called my opponent and said, you know, I don't have any reason at all. There's nothing at all between us or anything. This is just what I feel like I need to do. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:31:14] And then the big, big thing is, you know, we have a school board that has great businessmen and people who have experience there. But with Mr. Bennett leaving, we have no one with education experience. That's right. The closest is Jarvis Johnson. Yeah. And of course, I worked with him at the high school as an SRO and he does a great job.

[00:31:40] But we need someone who has had time sitting at a desk and with kids. And, you know, there's just so many things with that that you cannot know without the experience there. You know, I agree totally because I've really enjoyed Dr. Swallows inviting, you know, us out when they do the TCAP testing and stuff like this past year. The first year was a first grade TCAP.

[00:32:08] And then we upgraded to second grade, as he said. And this time we did the third grade level for math and reading. Right. And he said, congratulations, you all passed. You get to go to fourth grade. And I said, what are you going to do? Like, but again, seeing what the kids, like you said, having someone that's been with the children, having someone that's been in the school system, we need those people on the school board.

[00:32:36] Because all this new stuff, whether it's we have Chromebooks, we're taking back or we're getting a little away from Chromebooks. You need to know these trends, these things that are changing and ever so growing. And you've been in it, being the principal and assistant principal in your positions, that you have that educational background, which I think will benefit the board if and when you, you know, because who is it? Is it just you in this in district one? Because isn't there district two and district one?

[00:33:04] So it's really kind of strange the way that happens. Listen, the school board stuff is where I'm not fully educated on, like breaking down the districts. If you can do it, that'd be great. So the county commissions, of course, there are more county commissioners. Yeah, there's 24 to be exact. And there are 12 commission districts. Yes. And each of those have two representatives.

[00:33:27] But then you take two of those commission districts and make up one county school board district. So if you live in in county commissioner districts two and three, you are in district one. So it's a tiny bit of Viola Road, Vervilla Road through Smart Station.

[00:33:52] It goes over and down O'Wheels Road, Westwood, out to Airport Lake Road. So it's a pretty big district. Yeah, you've got a pretty big district. And then who is your, who are you running against in this one? So Nikki Reynolds. Okay. Will be the opponent on August 6th. Just the two of us. Just the two of us.

[00:34:17] And correct me, did they get, last time I looked at the sample ballots, is Bennett still on that? I don't think so. I think they finally got him off, right? I think, yes. The previous one, I think there was, yeah, his name was still on the list, but not the ballots. Right. So, because I didn't want the, I wanted people to know if it was still on there. Don't, you know. Yeah.

[00:34:40] If he was running, I don't think I ever would have run at that point because, you know, I still have that respect for him. He's been my boss before, you know. And, you know, there's no problems. I agree with him. And he's been very supportive and I appreciate that very much. I agree 100%. So, when, so let's just say hypothetically, you know, you're, you have won the district one school board seats.

[00:35:07] What do you see yourself implementing, if anything at all? Like some of the, like if you could like change anything or what, what is your goals on? What are you going to work on? Well, I think one of the things is, I think people need to understand what the job of the school board is first. Yes. And so. Transparency on that. 100%. I will say, I've really been doing my homework. You know, I'm a student. You know, I've loved being a student and being a teacher.

[00:35:37] So, I have to know my facts before I can, can do either very well. Yeah. So, yeah. Proving budget. Hiring and maintaining the director of schools. You know, it's not the hiring and firing of a teacher. You know, so a school board member doesn't really have some of those powers that they think. Whoa. Was that y'all? Yep.

[00:36:07] Good Lord. What is, okay. Juicy ghost, go away. Okay. I'm about to say dirty words. Dirty words. Okay. Jumping back in. But curriculum and policy. Okay.

[00:36:33] Is also the third big, you know, big aspect of what the school board does. So, I think someone that knows curriculum and policies is important. Yeah. And that really spills over into so many different areas. You know, you mentioned testing. Yeah. You know, that's a huge part. And all of us want our kids to be successful. Yeah. But I really think that we need to be advocating.

[00:37:03] I am not a big supporter of testing. I think it's developmentally inappropriate for children at the ages that they are, are doing. And do you feel that that's why there's so many private schools and home schools that are adapting that different style of less testing, more focus on the learning? Well, I think that's part of it. Yeah.

[00:37:29] But, you know, with the way that we give money and with vouchers, they are under no obligation to test anything. They don't have to provide special services. They don't have to provide special education. You know, so many of those things. So, you know, we've been to a lot of basketball games. Yeah. We would not want two teams playing from two different rule books. 100%. And so, you know, that's one of those things that I think we need to be more vocal about. This is not fair.

[00:37:58] You mentioned the testing, you know, that you took before. You know, when we look at a third grade test and we think about third grade literacy and you see all of the publicity out there about we are not doing well, you also need to know that that test is written on a fifth grade level. And some of the things that really kind of trip our kids up, you know, I think of my reading

[00:38:24] books in first grade, learning to read, and it was dot and spot. Yes. And so those were the red dog. I mean, it's all over. Those were the way that we got into the rhythm of reading and learned how to read and proficiency there. You know, in the third grade, now we are throwing names at them and it may be Jose and we have

[00:38:52] children that are then going to spend 10 minutes stuck on that word because they can't move past that. And our teachers are teaching them test taking skills then and those types of things. So that's a big issue. And, you know, speaking of being stuck, when I did the third grade literacy TCAP testing and keep in mind, I have been used. I have been. Hold on.

[00:39:23] Are y'all OK? OK. Thank you. She's good. OK. OK. Well, going back to what I was saying, when I did the third grade testing for TCAP for

[00:39:52] the thing, I got stuck and I should have not like I am a I'm going to be 42 next Wednesday. I should have known when I was reading this. I didn't look at the extra tabs to keep reading on. And when I got to the questions, I'm like, I don't remember it talking about a daggum rabbit. Right. And then I go back to the tab and I reread it. And so I even at 42 got stuck on that one paragraph or that one tab because I didn't

[00:40:20] realize there's multiple multiples of tabs. And then my time ran out. And imagine being a third grader and you getting stuck. I got I got stuck. Now throw on top of that, you know, all of the talk about doing away with technology. Yeah. You know, so beginning this fall, our third graders up will be tested online. So if we take those Chromebooks away from them, what's that going to look like for them in the fall?

[00:40:49] And that's their first experience. It's not that they don't know the work. They just might not know how to do it because of the technology side of it. True. So if you don't. And I mean, there's again, at the end of the day, we can agree that there is pros and cons to technology and artificial intelligence and so forth. But it is ever so growing. And if that's going to be a part of these upcoming jobs, shouldn't we? We can't go backwards. Yeah, you can't go back.

[00:41:15] Well, and the thing about that, too, I think, again, there's so much misinformation out there. Oh, 100 percent. And people assume because, oh, I read this. And, you know, you might have read that. But did you actually do your homework and know that this is the fact? So here in Warren County, we have a program called I Ready. And I Ready is a supplemental computerized program that we use for math and English language arts. Yeah.

[00:41:43] So there's a 45 minute a week requirement for that. That's a week. OK. But you think about that. You have those two things. And then at Bobby Ray or elementary school, you have one technology class a week. So you're talking about 90 minutes in a week's time. When you divide that out per day and you count in, you know, transitions to and from class,

[00:42:11] you're talking about less than 20 minutes a day. We are not shoving technology down our kids. Most of my teachers and they are very selective of I've got to work to get my I Ready minutes in. Yeah. And sometimes, especially the smaller they are, they struggle with that. But our children are not on technology all day long like some would have us perceive. That's just not the case.

[00:42:39] So, you know, I think there has to be that balance of the right balance. And I wholeheartedly believe, yes, we need to use paper and pencil in books. Please bring it back. I mean. It's not wrong. That's the part, Kelly. It's not wrong. They gave me paper and pencil for my math stuff. Yeah. But I want you all to know on that math portion, there was a calculator. Yes. And I refused to use it unless I needed it. Because, again, it was third grade math. And I was like, yeah, I don't need it.

[00:43:09] But that's been another debate, too. So over the years, there's been the debate of should that calculator be included in that third grade test? And so some of my teachers were like, oh, no. And then there were others that were like, okay, but now think about this. If I'm not letting my classroom use those calculators, but everybody else in Tennessee is, am I doing them a disservice? Well, of course we are. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:43:37] And then the other argument was, are we not letting them critically think by using a calculator? I mean, it goes both ways. So do we teach them basics first with paper and pencil and books and not using a calculator? Absolutely. Yeah. But then we have to come along and supplement and use those other tools because that's the world we live in. Yeah. My thing is, couldn't we do, and I know I could talk about this all day with her because she's so knowledgeable about it.

[00:44:05] Can we do like part of the test is paper and pencil and then the second part is by calculator? You know, and then that would be a good balance. I'm just, it would be a good balance. But that's a state of Tennessee. Okay. Yeah. Sorry. But that would be my deal of a good balance. There are many things that I would say I wouldn't do. I wouldn't do it. And, you know, then you have the whole question of, do we want teachers to be accountable?

[00:44:34] Absolutely. A thousand percent. Yeah. But we also don't want to put such unreal demands on them. And, you know, I was reading this morning and something that I read, it gave a list of the top 10 unhappy professions. Oh, gosh. And teachers was on that. Yeah. And I thought, you know, I never felt that way.

[00:44:58] But kind of in the explanation, it said not because they aren't doing meaningful work, but because the demands are so high. And because, you know, I think so much of the time teachers get a really bad rap. Yeah, they do. And there's so many people who, you know, your mother and grandmother, I know, would have been if you got in trouble at school when you came home, they would have been like, well, let me talk to the teacher. Kelly, what did you do? Yeah.

[00:45:27] And now I have all my teachers cell phone numbers. If something happens, I'm like, what do you do? Yeah. And now it is teacher. What did you do to my child? Because they didn't do anything. That's right. So and that's a small vocal part. We have so many fabulous parents. Yeah. So many. I always say it always as a parent, and I'm going to stick up for all the parents out there as well, is at the end of the day, you are their parent and you need to teach them the right and wrong.

[00:45:56] You need to teach them the right etiquette on how to survive and thrive in this world. And, you know, and nine times out of 10, the kids that I have seen that go through and I'm friends with some of these parents. They don't teach that to their kids. But again, that's not my child. Right. Right. And so at the end of the day, everything that our children do is a representation of we teach at home, at the home front. True.

[00:46:26] And at the end of the day, Monty is not the parent. Right. Right. And if you want them to act as a parent, as a cook, as a transportation, because that's where, you know, a lot of people at the end of the day, I just as a mom, I feel like I am all these things. Right. And I think that's how teachers feel when they come. Like, I need to make sure you're bathed, you're fed, you're clothed, you're educated, you get a transportation, send food home.

[00:46:55] If you want your teachers to start really amplifying your children's education, pay them more. I think so, too. And then when you pay them more, then they can get certified more in certain things as they grow and get paid. Again, I just feel like y'all don't get paid enough for what all you really, truly do. The therapy, the counseling. I mean, there is so much.

[00:47:24] There's a new, I'm not sure to call it law or requirement that I've just been reading about that's about to go in, that they're talking about not requiring children through the third grade to be potty trained. No. You know, most of us, just in the general public, I think that sounds kind of unbelievable. That's unreal.

[00:47:51] It's like somebody's still sucking their thumb to me, but going on, go on. But that is, we do have some situations like that. And I'm not talking about, of course, we have special needs children who have, you know, certain needs that we absolutely take care of on a daily basis. And those, you know, teachers and assistants know that that is part of their job.

[00:48:14] But I'm talking about just the typical child coming into school and some of the things that we're being asked today. It's a little crazy. Like, certainly has changed in 39 years. I don't feel like that should be a law. It should. I don't know. I have my opinion on that. Me too. And again, you don't want government involved so much. Remember who to vote for when you go to the upcoming election.

[00:48:45] Oh, wow. That's nuts. I think I'm going to write an art in my opinion piece on that this week. I've been thinking, what can I write about? But do you have any upcoming meet and greets? Are you going to be going to any community forums, anything like that? So I'm glad you asked that. So Friday night at 6 o'clock at Zora's Tea Room, the Republican Women's Group is having their hat affair. Okay.

[00:49:15] So I'll be there. I'll be late. Carrie Morton and I are both speakers. So I promise not to speak very long at all so that we can enjoy some good food. But I would invite everyone to come out. I've been working on, you know, the teacher in me. Yeah. Working on what I'm going to say. And I'm going to be speaking about the importance of one vote. Yeah. I think that's really smart. I love that.

[00:49:43] Well, before I let you go, people are saying so many nice things about you. Cody Jones said, go, Ms. Hillis. You got this girl. We all love you, friend. And then our coffee, Ms. Tina said, all the stuff that you've been talking about today. She goes, I agree with her. She also mentioned, I love her way of explaining these stuff and her knowledge about how to integrate the future easily. And then going back, Kim Hillis said, good morning, Monty.

[00:50:13] I wonder if there's a relation there with Hillis' name. And then Scott Kelly said, she would be a wonderful addition to the school board. And then Sydney Allenbatten says, I'm dumbfounded. And I bet that's to the comment of the potty training thing. I bet it is too. Listen, on the potty training thing, and I'll leave it at this because I have to get this off my chest.

[00:50:39] When your child is in daycare, before they can go to pre-K or the daycare setting, they have to be either somewhat potty trained or fully potty trained. Okay? And then after that first full year of that pre-K age, if they're not fully potty trained and there's still like an issue going on, they do the daycare, wherever school daycare you go to, they'll be like, hey, Kelly, well, what are you doing?

[00:51:08] Like that, you know. And again, it is not just, it's not the school's responsibility to potty train your kid. It is you as the parent. Now, be sure that that is in the work. So, I'm hoping that that is something that does not come to pass. But that is in discussion. And then Fred, or sorry, Freda Clifton, shout out to her. She says, we need people like her on the board. Cindy said, we just got done with potty training.

[00:51:38] Now it's to make sure we keep accidents down. You know? And imagine that times 20. Oh, my gosh. Or 25. Yeah, depending on like, what is the average number per class now? I know in the high schools it's a little bit higher. It is. And it is higher. There's a mandated ratio. Yeah. You know, that gets higher the higher you go. So, I have it had in high school.

[00:52:06] At one time I had 35 kids. You know, thankfully we don't have those numbers anymore. It was a lot. So, typically elementary school and kindergarten and first is a little bit smaller. Typically 20-ish is about average. No more than 25. It's about average. Yeah. You wouldn't have 25 at that level. Yeah. Okay. Well, I have truly enjoyed having you sit here and Q&A.

[00:52:33] Is there anything that we did not talk about? I feel like there's so much. Because I'm looking at, she's got this fabulous sheet, by the way, that she made on Canva or Canvas. However you say it. Potato, potato. But we will be sharing this in our local voice newspaper as well when we do our little write-up. But I say this and I love what you said, the importance of one vote.

[00:53:00] And so, I go back to this like I ended it with Tom saying, you can tell Monty and all these elected officials or these candidates how much you appreciate them, how much you care about them, how much maybe you told them that you're going to go vote for them. Prove that. Because like she said in the one sentence, the importance of one vote. The change one vote can make.

[00:53:24] And you, whoever's watching, could be that change that makes that vote the difference, the game changer. Right. And so, vote for who you think is going to be best represented when it comes to, in this situation, for the school board, District 1, which is if you are in your county commissioners or District 2 and 3. Thank you. Okay. Because I'm not going to. Yes. Couldn't they just say District 2 and 3?

[00:53:54] It would have been easier. It's so much easier to combine. Oh. Okay. They just, again, it is what it is. I move on. But I appreciate you coming in and sitting down and talking with us. And anytime you have any issue, like, again, anything you want to get and talk about, and we'll make time for you. Thank you. Just like any other elected official and candidate coming up in this upcoming election.

[00:54:20] And remember, early, I say this, I'm saying it all the time when I have people in here. Early voting is July 17th through August the 1st. And then to vote for your school board districts, that is going to be determined in this vote. These are our local elections. There's no advancement. You're not picking, you know. So August the 6th is going to be your last day to do the local general voting.

[00:54:47] And so if you voted in the primary, I really appreciate it. The complimentary votes you got. The complimentary votes. I was very encouraged by that. But those don't count. We start over. So we're back at ground zero. And I need people to go out and vote. You need to show up again. August 6th. There you go. Guys, I hope you enjoy your day. And I don't know how many times I have to stress this, but you out there that's watching this, that is a registered voter.

[01:00:47] However, if you don't understand the importance of local elections, I hope between last year, starting this in October where I was doing my Super Tuesday events, till now, how important it is for us to vote. How important it is for us to have a voice in our community.

[01:01:15] I am tired of people upset with how our school systems are, with how our taxpayer dollars are, how our county and city is spending our money and doing this and that, and what good is it doing for me? I totally get that.

[01:01:36] But at the end of the day, and I was just talking to Monty off air about this, the low turnout of any of our voting is for local elections. And I don't understand why is that?

[01:01:52] Why is it that people get upset, but yet the local elections has always been the least amount of showmanship when it comes to registered voters? It's truth. It's truth.

[01:02:13] So, she was just showing me that there was like, oh my gosh, a thousand and something, we have, for her district, she was showing me, she had 2,100 registered voters. And out of those registered voters, like only less than 1,000 showed up to vote. You think about that, guys. You think about that.

[01:02:42] If you cannot be there to show up, you should at least do, what is it called, the absentee vote? You need to get your vote in. There are so many different ways to have your voice heard. Think about, I'll use the example of the veterans, the VA clinic closed. Did you see what happened when people started talking about it and blowing up and calling and emailing and postcards and sending in letters?

[01:03:12] What happened? They changed their minds and instead of closing in May, now they're going to at least have it open until the end of December now. Think of what could happen if we, the constituents, we, the taxpayers, could do if we actually would use our knowledge, our voices, and show up to these polls and click who we want to vote for. Think about that. It's mind-boggling.

These seats impact our day-to-day lives. Being represented by people with your values is so huge. Totally agree. I totally agree.

And our last hit for our breaking news, which of course, once again, is being brought to you by re-elect Jackie Matheny Jr., for Warren County Sheriff. So yesterday, and again, you can also hear what I'm about to read you on WCPI.

[01:11:43] I've been cutting their news for the 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock, 12 o'clock, and 5 o'clock slot. And of course, yesterday, so many things happen when I'm out of town. And I do apologize. Like, I don't mean to do this, but when I came into town, I heard, of course, we talked about it already, that Scott Desjardins was in town. And then, I'm getting blown up, really, a lot on what happened in Morse, or was it

[01:12:11] Morse and Viola, I can't remember, in the carrier area, Morse and area. A plane went down, two people, are they hurt, are they injured, have they died? You know, what's the thing? And so, I started doing some digging and looking into, and then seeing also, too, what other people are saying about it, whether it was on social media or News Channel 5, because I saw Nick Boreas also wrote about it as well. But getting down to the nitty-gritty, and everybody's like, who is it, who is it?

[01:12:39] Well, I'm going to tell you, as of this morning, to my knowledge, the family members of the two deceased brothers still have not, to my knowledge, have been notified. But as soon as all the family next to kin has been notified, the names will be released. I do have those names, but I do not, just like for my journalist integrity, we're not going to release those names either, until the family members know.

[01:13:10] But I can tell you that the two individuals that did pass away yesterday from that plane crash, they're not originally from here. They did buy property out in that Viola community area, and they were, just like all the stories that I read and then I found out, they were planning on building a home here in the Warren County community, in the Viola, specifically, community.

[01:13:39] And they were going to also maybe build other houses and things like that, maybe a subdivision. But I, you know, again, I don't know all the details as far as that, but I do know that they weren't originally from here. They were brothers. And it's just horrible. And so this is what I've been broadcasting on our WCPI broadcast that it's again at seven, eight, 12 and five today.

[01:14:05] I said two people were killed in Wednesday after, excuse me, Wednesday afternoon, a small aircraft crashed into a heavily wooded area behind carrier near Morrison. Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 1220 PM following reports of a possible plane crash. Responding agencies included the Morrison Fire Department, Warren County EMS, the Warren County Sheriff's Department, and several additional emergency responders.

[01:14:35] According to the witnesses, the aircraft appeared to be in distress before it even went down. Authorities later confirmed that both occupants died in the crash. According to family members, the victims were brothers who shared a lifelong passion for aviation. The friend said both men served in the military and were married with children and had recently been planning to build homes in Warren County.

[01:15:02] And just like we said, out of respect for the families, Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny Jr. said the victim's identities will not be released until all next of kin have been notified. The federal, and then this is the other thing, because I had to call and get an email from them. The federal aviation administration has also responded, as well as the National Transportation Safety Board is going to be lead investigators,

[01:15:30] or be the lead in this investigation. The investigators will examine the aircraft, the weather conditions, maintenance records, and the pilot information before determining what caused the crash. Officials say that the investigation could take several months to complete. And yes, this does remain as a developing story.

[01:15:54] And we here at Warren First Sign 3 will continue bringing you updates and more official information when it becomes available. So that is what we know. And again, just like the Viola Pizza Company said on their post, that their prayers and thoughts go out to the families involved in that horrible airplane crash.

[01:16:20] I saw that my good friend Blaine Wilcher, he did a quote with another media company stating that, how did he say it? Let me go back to it, because somebody sent that one to me, so I do apologize. Let's see. He said that he told reporters that he was eating lunch nearby when he heard the engine repeatedly reviving and cutting out.

[01:16:48] He said the plane entered a steep dive and briefly pulled back. Then it disappeared behind the trees before a loud impact was heard. So, again, at the end of the day, yesterday, it was a horrible day. It was a tragedy. And to those families, to the children, our hearts and prayers go out to you guys.

[01:17:17] And no matter whatever the case happens, if that family needs anything, Warren County is here for you. You just got to ask. That's why I love living in our town the way we do. So, we are, when we end the show today, we're going to say a prayer for that family as well. And now going into what I love, if I can get back to it, is our lovely community calendar.

I saw, as long as I don't see the nuts, I'm okay. I love the sea salt. It's so strong you can't taste the bitterness of the chocolate, which I like. It's caramelly. Mm-hmm. And then that was my next thing.

[01:18:43] And then when you bite into it, the caramel into the peanut butter, and then you get the crunch at the end. Mm-hmm. That's really good. Is it yummy? It's really yummy. So, why? I don't have the camera on you. I'm going to change it now. What makes this snack, this a better, healthier than a Snickers? Well, a Snickers have like 1,500 ingredients. Mm-hmm. Okay. So, we have dates. We have organic peanut butter. What else?

[01:19:13] And chocolate. That's it. I really like it. Libby sea salt. And that's it. That's really good. Real ingredients. Real fuel. Yeah. And you won't have the, you know, repressions of last time. You know, as I say, whatever you had that moment, like you ate like a fast food or bad, you know, you junk food it up with a bar and then in like less than a couple hours, you're just like, man, why do I feel so low and down?

[01:19:43] And this you will not. And so, when I started the show, we talked about, you know, people that are, and then I'll know you got to get back to work. But if you're looking to start a healthy journey, you don't have to dive right into it. No. No. What's the best thing for people to do? Me personally, start in the morning with breakfast. Do a juice. You will be shocked at how you feel the rest of the day. Yeah. It's going to just program your whole day pretty much. You don't get as hungry.

[01:20:13] It curves the appetite. You know, it can't be one of the sweet ones, though. You have to have a good one. It has to be like a Greek goddess or a roadrunner or even a turn up the beat. It can't just be all sweet, but it will curb the appetite, give you energy throughout your day. Just start in the morning. Yeah. And then. I like that because I always start with, if I could get a full, you know, bottle of water in, I'm okay. Yeah. It's not as bad. And I always have to give a shout out to my girl, Miss Tina. Yes.

[01:20:42] Because there is every now and then, and I know Mary's the same way because she's got her Mary's thunder out there. Yes. That every now and then, we got to get our energy. That's my juice. Like, I need more. I need more. That's my juice. Yeah. That's Mary's juice. That's Mary's thunder. Yeah. So what, so, but again, I was talking about, you know, if you just give your body, start out one day a week of eating good and then the next week or the next two weeks. It was Monday.

[01:21:11] That's how I eat back in the day when I first started. But you ain't open on Monday. Do it on Tuesday. Yeah. Meatless Tuesday. Yeah. There you go. But, and it's, it's, it's, it's easier than you think. Yeah. Because you could do a salad. You could do any of the sandwich and wraps we have here. And, and basically it's cheaper to eat out here. I think because by the time you go and get all the produce. Yeah. And make it clean up. Oh my gosh. We've already done it for you.

[01:21:39] So she says, what is it again? Oh, you're going to have to like, they're right. What time do you open? Jamie, Jaco. Nine o'clock, Jamie. And we close at 430. Tuesday through Friday. Yeah. And then they're closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. And Sydney, what are you saying? What is it again? Oh, probably talking about what I ate. So it's dates with an organic peanut butter, a creamy one.

[01:22:07] And then I just top it with chocolate and chopped peanuts. And that's it. It's delicious. I can eat that. I like it. And then one other thing we were talking about before we let you go. Is there a program people can get signed up? There is. But actually right now they're kind of re-phasing it. They're updating it a little bit. So instead of once a month, it's going to be available every week. Oh. So it'll be pre-recorded.

[01:22:37] Okay. But that means I'll do more here for my community instead of all of that. Once the hour gets pre-recorded, then I'll have more time to do stuff like that here in the cafe. I want to try that, she said, Sydney said. It's so good. It's really good. Well, I did say let's go to lunch today, Sydney. But you tell me when and where. Yeah. I always eat this either for lunch or for supper. Right. Because I'm always on the go.

[01:23:05] It doesn't look like a lot of it. And I will tell you, between eating the food here, and I'm not dissing any of the fast food restaurants. Right. But when you, I don't know if it's the grease. I don't know if it's the meat. You know, but whatever you, when you eat from here, you don't get that feel of regret or remorse or that like. You don't. Yeah. You don't feel bad. It's the end of the day, yeah. You don't feel bad. No. You feel like, oh my God, what did I? What did I just eat? What did I just eat?

[01:23:35] But yeah. But again, y'all should come out. Check out Mary and her team. Yeah. Check out. And you actually can see them making your food. Yeah. If there's something you don't like, we can substitute it. Just like with Kelly, she don't want tomatoes and onions. So we did extra crispies. And it's a little tortilla crisp. It gives it an extra crunch. And cucumber. And cucumber. I never thought about subbing cucumber. So they can sub stuff out. You just got to talk to them.

[01:24:03] And Mary also knows that I have like a, is it a tolerance? I don't know. A low tolerance to certain spicy things. Yes. And like I can have that burrito if there's those crunchies in it and there's no onion. The tomato, it's just a juice thing. I think it juices it down. But also if I do eat too much tomato products, I do break out my mouth. That is the thing. But every now and then I can handle some spice. It's just got to be a hint. A hint.

[01:24:32] Not an overload. Right. And then when Cindy and them make these amazing bowls and stuff and I can, and I'm like, I can't handle anything. But it is what it is. But we do have the burrito bowl today. We have a smoky. Oh, you're doing a lot of bowls here lately. Well, it's summertime. Okay. So we're kind of a seasonal, we go by the seasons. Okay. So you'll notice when it's cold, we do heavier food. Yeah.

[01:25:00] But yeah, it's just greens and quinoa and brown rice. It has sweet potatoes that are roasted. Okay. It has black beans, corn, chopped cilantro. Oh, gosh. And then we do a smoky ranch on the sides of that. And that sounds delicious. I just wanted to say this little comment. So a lot of us, when morning comes, you want to eat breakfast. So the word breakfast is actually you're breaking from a fast where you slept. So that's what that means.

[01:25:27] So it's really, really hard on your belly and your digestion when you go eat highly fat stuff. Like, and trust me, I've done it. You know, bacon, all that. So it kind of sets your morning to be tired. Oh, you like going in reverse. Yeah. So you've slept all night with not eating, so you've been on a fast for however many hours. So when you break it, try to eat something healthy in the morning. It doesn't have to be juice. It could be something, you could do some yogurt and granola or just something that's not as heavy.

[01:25:56] And then throughout the day, you can do whatever you want. Okay. Yeah. Well, there you go. Little tidbits from that. Thank you, Mary. You're welcome. All right. Families in Crisis is hosting their sexual assault group at 6 o'clock at 101 West Main Street. Don't forget, in July, we're also going to be doing an event with Families in Crisis again. We're just going to do a Raise Your Voice karaoke stuff, and we're just raising awareness. And it's not going to be a contest.

[01:27:18] We're just, they're going to be helping me host the karaoke events now over at Collins River Barbecue. The Refuge Recovery Meeting is at Freedom Life Church. McMinnville Rotary Club is meeting at Motlow today at the Automation and Robotics Center at 12.05. Teen support groups tonight as well. And don't forget, it is the third Thursday of the month,

[01:27:46] which means that is the Republican Party's meeting is going to be held tonight. It's their June party meeting. It's going to be in the early voting room at 6 o'clock. The Living Free Group Bible Study at Three Rivers Baptist Church in Rock Island starts at 6. And then going on today is Let's Shine for the Kids. It's Denim and Diamonds in Sparta, Tennessee.

[01:28:15] 5 to 8 p.m. It's a fundraiser for CASA. Let's see. Also helping is the Self-Care Fair at the Van Buren County Prevention Coalition in Spencer. Yes, that's right. We do other events other than Warren County. We've been doing that for several weeks, months now. So, again, if you do have a community event that you want to get on,

It starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. They have everything from a car show to vendors to a beauty contest. It's like a whole slew of stuff going on at the fairgrounds on Saturday. [01:32:57] Dems and Donuts is going to be at Jay's Restaurant. They're every third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1030. And, of course, another of the Flyin' Chapter Breakfast for Chapter 1700 at the Warren County Memorial Airport. Free community event breakfast. [01:33:51] The Common Ground Shootout Clay Shooting Tournament event for Michael Woodley for House District 31 is going to be held at the Dead Zero Shooting Park in Spencer. Check-in is at 8.30 in the morning. But, again, so many things are going on. The National Bait Up Conventions has been going on all week until next week. We have kids representing from Tennessee, Jacoby Odenil.

[01:34:21] They are also out of town. Let me go back to Dana's post. She's been sending me text messages, giving me updates, what's going on. She did say that Jacoby got a forfeit on his third match and his final match for yesterday, making him 3-0 for his first day, which is great. She said, we're so proud of his hard work. I would give you more updates on the other two Ground Zero kids and Tending, but I don't really know them. I have met them at the club, but not their parents.

[01:34:49] I can say that they are from Coffey County, and both are great kids. So, if you didn't see the post that we made, if you didn't read the story that we made on that, and I'm going to go to that right quick. So, up in Wisconsin, yeah, Milwaukee, Wisconsin right now, three Tennessee kids are up there competing,

[01:35:17] and the local wrestlers, it's called the National Stage, and Jacoby Odenil, which is from Morgan County, Brooke Turner, and Tanner Vernon is from Coffey County. But Brooke and Tanner are competing in the 14 and under U group, and then, no, excuse me, Brooke's in the 14 and under girls team, and then Tanner's competing in the junior boys team.

[01:35:45] And Jacoby, as of yesterday, he did get the Tennessee team to a strong start for earning a victory in the Greco-Roman competition during his opening rounds. And this is all through a program called Ground Zero Wrestling. So, again, if you don't know anything about it, please, you know, let us know.

[01:36:13] But that is what is going on this week. There's so much stuff going on. And if you don't believe me, real quickly, because I don't care to show you guys this, our community calendar that we have for you has everything from now to the end of this year. People have put dates in this letting us know so far in advance, so far in advance.

[01:36:41] I absolutely love our community calendar. So, of course, these dates don't exist anymore because it's June 18th. But just to show you, and the reason that it's color-coded is to let you know if it's in McMinnville, if it's downtown McMinnville, if it's, you know, in other places. But right here, yeah, June 18th we talked about. There's June 19th, June 20th, all these events, and June 21st through the 23rd.

[01:37:08] And I'm just going to keep scrolling so you guys can see this. So much is going on in Warren County. And if you want your finger on the pulse of what is going on in Warren County, look no further. Warren First 931 is your cup of tea.

Before we leave today's show, I do want to say a prayer for the family that are the two gentlemen that were involved in the airplane wreck yesterday.

[01:38:26] The two brothers. And so, let's do a quick word of prayer and then we will end today's show. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the day that you've given us. We just want to do a special prayer and we want to lift up the two families that have lost their loved one. As we know, they were two brothers that came down in that crash. And we have now found out that as of yesterday that they were fathers. They, you know, they had children.

[01:38:55] And so, we just want to lift up the wife, the children, the family, their friends of this tragic loss. We don't understand, you know, when people leave this earth, but you do. So, we just want you to put your healing hands on these family members. Give them a peace of mind that they are not alone. And to remind them that people are praying for them. Give them some type of comfort, God.

[01:39:21] That whatever the case may be for these two brothers, that they're no longer suffering, Lord. That they're no longer hurt, God. And while I'm praying this morning, we want to lift up Tina, Miss Tina from our coffee this morning, Lord. As she has just recently lost her father, God. And losing a father as, you know, even with these two brothers as they had children as well. I know what it is like to lose a father.

[01:39:50] And there's nothing like losing a parent. And please give everybody peace and comfort in the guidance that they need to move on. Because at the end of the day, we know that the ones that have lost their lives this past week don't want us to not live anymore. They want us to live. They want us to thrive. So, please be with them as they go on, Lord. And in your name, amen.

[01:40:18] Real quickly, before I forget to mention this, because I always do. Speaking of Miss Tina from our coffee, due to the unfortunate circumstances of her father's passing, she is going to have to close the coffee shop up starting tomorrow to Wednesday. And so, please be with Miss Tina as they are going out and taking care of their affairs with her, you know, with the father.

[01:40:47] So, if this is what you do as the daughter or the child of someone that passed away. So, please be with her. But our coffee will not be open from Friday to Wednesday of next week. And if something changes, we'll let you guys know, okay? Miss Tina's going to let me know.
