With Special guest Walker Slaughter on Weather, Joe Harvey with the Park Theater, and John Salloway with Forever Abby Road!

Warren First 931: Your local hub for all things community!

[00:00:37] Good morning, Warren County. I'm your host of the show of Warren First 931, Kelly Walker-Slaughter. And I'm Brian Carr. Good morning, Warren County. Good morning. And again, we are trying some new things today. We do have a special weatherman for today. So let's play his clip right quick for all you guys.

[00:00:56] Today is 55. For now, it's going to be a 37 degrees. At 9 a.m., 37 degrees.

[00:01:28] And at 10 a.m., it will be 38 degrees. At 11 a.m., it will be 39. And 12 p.m., it's going to be 40. And from 12 p.m. through 2 p.m., it will be 40 degrees. By the way, we are on a flood watch until 3 p.m. So today is going to be cloudy but still sunny. Friday, it will be cloudy. Saturday, 90% of rain.

[00:01:58] Sunday, 60% of rain. Monday through Saturday next week, we'll have Monday, Sunday, sunny. So that's going to be great. Yeah. And Tuesday will be cloudy but Wednesday is a 40% chance of rain. And Thursday is still cloudy. Friday and Saturday are going to be the same thing which is going to be cloudy and sunny. And that's all I have today in Bournemouth County.

[00:02:25] This is your host of the weather today. We won't be here for slaughter. Take it away, Kelly. There you go. I almost forgot. Our sponsors today is we can pick up all month. Yeah, it's the end of the month. There you go. Look at that. Look at that. Take it away, Kelly. All right. Thank you so much.

[00:02:51] Again, we're going to have special weather reports this morning from our very own weather correspondent, Walker Lawson Slaughter. So give it up to him this morning. Yay. As long as there's no school. It's okay. Don't worry about it. We'll come back. Yeah, it's different. At McMinn Park, my location where we are right now, through, we're all finally down to McMinnville at all three times. Gotcha. Gotcha.

[00:03:21] Well, with that said, guys, thank you for joining us on this Thursday, dark and gloomy, another rainy day here in downtown McMinnville. Thanks again to Topps Rose and Yogurt for letting us be here today. Matt and Anna do a phenomenal job. We got some eggs and pancakes this morning from Cumberland Biscuit, which is always delicious. But don't forget, too, to also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.

[00:03:50] Also, X, we have two different ones to choose from there, whether it's Pioneer Playbook or Warren First 931. You can also follow us on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and Audible. So, two or nine different ways to stay in the know and stay connected to the community. But with that said, Brian, I mean, yesterday, how was your evening? Boy, it was busy. Last night with the storm that came through and all the rain that it brought.

[00:04:17] I actually live out in Debril right off Mountain Creek. And Mountain Creek is nearly up over the bridge. Not yet, but it's getting close. So, we got a lot of rain out across the county. So, thank you to our Warren County school system for allowing our kids to be out. And I think it's great as far as keeping them safe from the flu viruses that are going around right now. We, like other counties, are dealing with these type of issues.

[00:04:45] Our friends down in Coffey County, they're out of school right now. And I would be, it wouldn't surprise me if there's other places. I know there's several other counties. We'll get a list for you guys here in a minute. But, go ahead. And in Warren County school, all of Warren County schools are out because of this rain that's been going on, which is just rainy. It's like cloudy if the chance of me falls all over again, but just regular rain. Right.

[00:05:10] And there's been a lot of sickness as well, you know, in the Warren County school systems. Covenant County, or Covenant Academy is also closed. Yeah. It's a little school in itself there. And that is, I was trying to look it up right now while you were talking, Brian. I was trying to see about Void Christian School. So, if you are watching, and again, I will tell you this, during stormy times, internet

[00:05:36] goes a little crazy because everybody's on it or the bad weather in the air. I don't know. I figured out how to do that. Yep. Cool. All right. I figured out how to do that. I can't go to that one page. Now, we do follow, I think it's called Tennessee. Tennessee school closing? Mm-hmm. And I was trying to get to their page just to make sure because a lot of schools are being closed for flooding.

[00:06:06] A lot of schools have been closed for sickness. Good morning, Jamie. Thank you for tuning in with us this morning. I got news in from my trusty internet thing I have right here. We're just, I'm just getting a response that from a move rate or like light, so this blue, purple, yellow stuff, like heavy rain, heavy rain. It's coming.

[00:06:34] No, it's actually, there's a wave going. Okay. From Georgia. There goes Matt. Oh, wow. Good for Matt. So, they're having a wave of heavy rain actually in Georgia and it's going down to Florida. Okay. Bubba, let's talk about schools right quick, okay? It all sucks. No. No. Let's do still closings here. The systems highlighted in blue are closed and the systems in green are delayed.

[00:07:02] So, we'll just go through the ones that are closed right now. Yeah. Anderson County, Franklin County, Granger County, Green County, Grundy County. Yep. Hancock County, Hawkins County, Lawrence County, Marion County, Murray County, McMinn County, Monroe County, Pope County, Scott County, Sequatchie. And did you know that Sequatchie borders Warren County? Just a very little bit. There's a tinch on that mountain. Yes. Union County and our own Warren County has made it.

[00:07:30] Most of the other counties are just two-hour delays, but it's because of all this rain. And so, and a lot of these East Tennessee counties that we listed, some of them are still dealing with effects from Hurricane Helene from last year. So, yeah, our thoughts and prayers go out to those people. We know we don't want them to have to suffer through something like that again.

[00:07:53] And anytime, and I know I would be the same way, anytime it starts raining consistently like it has in the last two days, I would always worry about that. So, yes, thank you, Tennessee School Closings, for keeping us posted on which ones are closed today. And we're excited that if you're at home, hopefully you're working on your virtual learning. Yes. There are several programs that the Warren County School System pays for. And, guys, it's February.

[00:08:23] We're almost halfway through the month. Oh, my gosh. I know already. And so, April, we've got TCAP testing. That's generally the third week in April. And so, they'll be here before you know it. So, we really want to make sure that you're getting these things. So, hopefully, in the near future, we'll have an expert come in and talk about things you can do. Yeah. Get ready for TCAP. Thank you, Warren County Schools, for being prepared. Those that don't know. And listen, I made a mistake yesterday.

[00:08:53] What did you do? I got called out by the commander in chief at our household. I said that the cafeteria service would be open every day. They're open on Friday. So, they'll be open until noon on Friday. So, and that was, I misheard what it said. Let's see. Virtual learn. Students should be received. No, from 10 to 12 on Friday. Okay.

[00:09:18] For Friday's virtual learning day at home, our school cafeterias will be open 10 to 12 p.m. Friday for any student that would like to eat lunch. And, guys, on this show today, aside from all this stuff, we've got, at 930, we've got a big guest coming on. We do. Really excited about it. And, well, I tell you what, we'll just go ahead. Yeah.

[00:09:43] He's actually playing not just one, but two shows this weekend at the Park Theater. And that's Mr. John Salaway from the band Forever Abbey Road. He is a music producer just up the road here in Nashville. That's right. And so, I can't wait to talk with him and pick his brain. Pick his brain on, like, all the, now, again, I want to say that I had an interview with him back in the day when I was at the radio station. And, because that last name is not, it's not a common name, you know, for me.

[00:10:12] So, I really think, I can't wait to ask him. I'm like, have you ever been on our radio station before? But, no, again, I think it's really neat how he's opening up for Ken and Drew of Sister Hazel, you know, tomorrow night. And then he comes right back. And then, you know, does the tribute band of the Beatles called Forever Abbey Road. This is not their first time being here in McMinnville. And so, I'm really excited.

[00:10:37] And, again, if you're a Beatles fan, this is the, you need to go to this. Yes. We're busy. You've been invited to several things. Hush. There's no doubt in my mind that Walker gets invited to a lot of things. He does. I've got to call Randy England about one thing, and then I've got to call a birthday party about another. So, hush. But, yes, make sure if you don't have your ticket shed, you can always stop by the Park Theater.

[00:11:06] Through the day, you can pick up tickets. Or you can always go online and purchase your tickets. Oh, that's awesome. Ashley Moore, shout out to Ryan J. Moore and his family. She said, good morning. She said, me, Shep, and my dad are going. Oh, that's going to be so much fun. Aw. Good morning, Miss Reef. Hey, good morning, Miss Reef. I love it. I love it. See, it's going to be a great day. Guys, if you're not following us on Facebook or Instagram, you've got to do this.

[00:11:35] So, if you haven't seen this, Matthew 25 Ministries, and Melody shared this the other day, which is the neatest little thing. And so, again, this happens in March. It's their annual, it's called the Damn Duck Derby. And they release ducks at the dam. And so, you buy, they get all these hundreds and thousands of ducks. And they all are numbered. And if your duck crosses the, yeah, you win.

[00:12:07] We're going to, Bubba. And we have been talking about this all week long. And if you haven't seen, our newsletters are out and about now. Now, the hard copy is available. But if you do not want to pick up the hard copy, you can actually have a digital copy emailed to you directly to your home each week. All you got to do is text local voice to 931-305-0869.

[00:12:36] And we will send you a digital copy as soon as possible. But February, you know, of course, it is Black History Month. And so, we want to give where credit is due. We put in the magazine as well people that I also showcased, Black History Month in the Warren County Athletics. And so, that's in the newsletter. But also, another thing is that it's National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

[00:13:02] And Chris Stafford and them did a post yesterday that this issue is serious. It exists throughout our community. And it really does affect everyone who falls victim to the type of domestic violence, including with their loved ones. And that's just, it's how it is. But we did a whole article in the front page for Families in Crisis. They are doing a prom package giveaway. And there's several locations you can go to. Thank you, Madeline.

[00:13:32] Oh, she just posted something. Hold on. So, in this prom package, you're going to get two prom tickets, a hair gift certificate, a nail gift certificate, and a dinner gift certificate. And there's so much more than that. But that's what everybody needs at a prom. You know, your hair done, your nails done. You know, you got your prom tickets. It says, taking the pledge to engage in a healthy relationship to enter to win our prom 2025 package.

[00:14:00] And just to name a few of other stuff that's in there, it says, from local favorites like O Sugar, Pioneer Nutrition, Merle Norman Makeup Application. There's also a delightful assortment of goodies from Lemon Boutique and Tiger Lily Boutique. Local dining options with gift cards to local restaurants like Juicy's, Starbucks, and more. And a shout out to Bruce Atenant for the photography session. He has always done that each year, and he does a phenomenal job.

[00:14:27] And the two prom tickets were donated by Linda Taylor this year. And I was trying to think. So, you guys have this. The initiative is going to be taking place at the cafeteria at the high school, at the Warren County High School, during their lunch hours on the 7th, the 14th, which is coming up this Friday, and the 21st. And then they're going to, I think, announce. The winners will be announced on February the 28th. So, that's the end of the month.

[00:14:57] End of the month. And so, I was trying to think of anything else I forgot to mention about this. But in our newsletter, it just shows you what's in the gift bag, shows you what the packet, where you can go sign up and register. And it shows you, like, the wheels of, like, signs for you as a parent. I think it's always good for us to educate ourselves when it comes to these things. Okay. Okay. So, yeah, we've got a lot of things going on in the community. We've got more things. We've got a lot of sports topics to hit up. Yeah.

[00:15:27] Had a lot of just things that are going on here locally that are exciting. We've got Boyd Christian School and where they're at in their girls' basketball run for the state in the state playoffs. We've got our ladies that are going to be wrestling their regional tournament here at Cleveland tomorrow. And so, we've got three wrestlers. And this is the chance to go into the state tournament. And so... Oh, I know. It's so exciting. We've got so many people.

[00:15:57] We've got the Pioneer Dance Team or how should I put it? This is the... This is the... So, Madeline posted about it. She said, big shout out. And Madeline Stubblefield is our Pioneer Playbook host. She says, big shout out to our Lady Pioneers as they are back at the Dalt tonight. And a shout out to Boyd as they have moved on to the semifinals and the state championship. And they play at home tonight.

[00:16:25] Then she mentions, last shout out to the Warren County Middle School Dance Team and the Warren County Pioneer Dance Team as they begin competing tomorrow. Yes. So, they're headed... I guess they're in Florida now. They've been. So, this is exciting. And then we've got regional wrestling or actually sub-regions that will be coming out here soon for the boys' wrestling team.

[00:16:49] And then we've got a great basketball team with our own boys and girls basketball here at Warren County High School. So, a lot of stuff going on here in Warren County. So much stuff. And we're going to try to be a part of as much as we can while we can. And, you know, we're always looking for anybody that goes to these games because we can't be at every game. And I'm putting it out there.

[00:17:11] If there's any student or an adult, a mom, a dad that, you know, can just send us some pictures and send us some notes. Because, again, there's only three of us. And right now, you know, we got... I got Walker out of school. You know, Brian's doing his thing. Melody is at home right now.

[00:17:30] But I'm telling you guys, if there's anybody out there that has a child, and I say, or a young adult, I should say, that's interested in broadcasting, call me at 931-305-0869. Or call us at our other number at 369-3050. Because if I can't answer the 0869, my assistant will pick up on the other one. Oh, yeah. It's an AI assistant. By the way, we're actually going to shout out to that because, actually, it's a really cool thing.

[00:18:00] It is. He loves it. I love it. Every time I call it, it's just like, hello, this is... This is... This is Warren First 931. Yeah. Nice. If you call it, it will actually pick up. It does. Even though if we're, like, on, like, if we're, like, somewhere, like, in Egypt, where we're probably not. It'll just pick up, and it'll be like, your fault could not be succeeded. So I'm going to take your fault. Oh, that's nice.

[00:18:29] Well, listen, that we have that technology. But, guys, if you've got a young person that we can get involved in something good, something that they see how the world works, we're looking for that. Because we, I guess we'd call them correspondence. Because we can't be everywhere. But this is about our friends and neighbors. This is Warren First. So we want to get people from Warren County involved in these things, especially our young folks. Because we can't do this forever. No. And we would love somebody one day to take over one day.

[00:18:57] I wouldn't care to hand it off to the right person. It could be you. I could see that. Walker, you're stuck doing the weather for the rest of your life. You did such a good job this morning. Also, another big thing, and we're going to come back. We're going to take a quick break for more from our sponsors. But we are going to talk really heavily today also about Valentine's. Because that is on Friday. So does that mean today? Is today Galentine's? No. No. Galentine's is also on Friday.

[00:19:25] I don't know if there's a specific day. I guess we need to look into that. Message us. Let us know in the comments what the proper Galentine etiquette is. We'll explain. We'll explain. We'll explain later. After this break, we're going to take a quick commercial break. And we will keep it here at Warren First 931. My dad had a vision in 1964 to start Ganton Bowden. Now it's Gateway Tire and Service Center.

[00:19:52] He wanted our customers to have the best products and service at a fair price. That was his motto then, and that still stands today. We promise to be upfront and honest with each and every customer. We'll never try to sell something that our customers doesn't need just to make a buck. [00:21:32] We're going to talk stroking yogurt about some weather. Today's weather is in McBinville, where we are right now. It's 37. The high, 55. Below, 27. Now it's 37.

[00:22:02] At 10 a.m. it will be 38. And at 11 a.m. it will be 39. And 12 p.m. through 2 p.m. will be 40. And 3 p.m. 4 p.m. will be 30. 4 p.m. will be 30. Okay. And 5 p.m. will be sunny.

[00:22:28] And then 5.23 p.m. will be sunny. The sun's going down like it's the only day. And Friday. Okay. Today is sunny but cloudy. And that's all. Take it away, Kelly. All right. Thank you, Reddick Brown, for that weather report. Yes. Walker, you're going to get so much better by the end of the day. Well, that's what we all shoot for.

[00:22:58] And today, I did it. I did it. Guys, I apologize. I clap. I don't know why. I think it's the Memphis in me. I wrote myself a note, stop clapping. Because every time I clap, it shorts the sound up. Good morning, Derek. I'm fixing to swap you out with Brian now. I'm going to do this. Watch. I'm going to do this. I'm going to write you a note myself. And then I'm just going to hold it up. Okay? Because when you hear it popping. Can I see your dance real quick? Oh, stop.

[00:23:28] I got a rope right here. Nah. But with that said, thank you, Walker, for doing that. And thank you again for Reddick Brown Ford for being our community weather sponsors. If anybody would love to be sponsors here on Warren First 931's podcast, there is many, many options. We even have a package proposal. If anybody out there is listening that would like us to email it to them, we can do that as well. But I'm telling you, I want to say a shout out to, we are now at 14 sponsors total.

[00:23:57] And so this is, and guess what? It doubled since last year. Wow. At this same time. So, again, it's amazing how when you ask for help with the community, they provide. And so I want to say thank you to all of them. And that's when you're going to see these commercials. I also want to say thanks to our coffee, Ms. Tina, for listening to us. Me and Walker are going to swing by your shop today after the podcast to drop off a newsletter

[00:24:22] for you to help educate you on some stuff on the happenings going on in Warren County. And I do want to do a correction right quick before we get into Valentine's Day stuff. So yesterday we talked about the ISHA. Now it is the ISHA Foundation. It is in the newsletter. You can see it. Thanks again to Vanessa Miller for putting that report together. She did a phenomenal job.

[00:24:51] But a couple of things, you know, we had a lot of people address this yesterday after the show. So, and again, there's two different articles as of right now. Like the Southern Standard wrote one and we wrote one. And this one right here, because I brought it with me today. Because, yes, I do read the newspaper. Because, you know, you got to stay informed. I'm just saying. But I want everybody to know, because I can't remember where I saw it.

[00:25:15] But, again, ISHA is connected to Warren County, to Van Buren County. And, let's see, I'm just trying to find where it said. It was two other places. Well, it has some bearing. And I promise you, Lance, it's the Quachy County. Because it's on the map, you know. Because when you look on the map, because you can go on Google and see a screenshot of ISHA from the top. And everybody's like, you can't see it from the road.

[00:25:44] And, by the way, you will never see it by the road. Because, yes, the Quachy County. Okay. So, this is where it broke it down to. It says, researchers from ISHA estimated that the new development will bring an additional $4.8 billion to the local economy. With the impact of $2 billion in Warren County. $1.2 billion in Van Buren County. $1.3 billion to Grundy County.

[00:26:11] And $397 million in Sequatchie County. And they did say in the article as well, like we did, that just a reminder that ISHA pays a $21 million annual in real estate taxes across the four counties. And, again, we are going to stay on this. Starting next week, Vanessa Miller is going to come on and do a weekly update. All right. And so, she's getting some more stuff.

[00:26:40] There's a lot more stuff that we have not talked about. We really are trying to get with an ISHA person. And, like me and Brian talked about this morning, we're going to try to reach out ourselves and, like, email them and see if we can talk to them and see about getting some more details. Because there's a lot of things that's going on. And, again, if anybody has any concerns or questions, you always need to call your county officials when it comes to this matter because it's a county issue.

[00:27:09] It's not a city thing. It's a county thing. There he is. He spoke and he came. Look at that. So, again, anything that is evolving with the ISHA Foundation, you know, they are bringing some new stuff to their community. And, again, and we went all through that yesterday. And you can read it yourself in both articles as well. But I'm telling you guys, if you have any concerns, any questions, make sure you call your county officials.

[00:27:39] And if that doesn't work, the next thing you go up to, you talk to Marsha Blackburn or Janice Bolin. Like, you've got to talk to the, you know, because these are your taxpayer dollars. And my biggest concern, which I've talked to the county officials and I've talked to Janice Bolin about, is what are they contributing to us? For me, and you've got to remember, I didn't grow up with that Eastern religion. Nor did I. It's all new to me.

[00:28:06] So, one of the things that I'm trying to do is enlighten myself and try to understand what is it that they actually do? Why are they congregating? Why are they so focused on meditation and yoga? But it is that they're Hindu, and that's part of their religious practice. So, I'm trying to educate myself on Hinduism and the things that are going on. I may not agree with it, but hey, look. You've got to be still educated about it. That's the beautiful thing about the United States. Yeah.

[00:28:33] But we've got to make sure that things are as they should be, that everything is transparent. That's what we want to do for you guys, the viewers, is make sure that we're doing our job, making sure that everything is transparent and not have any bias. It's because we're not, we grew up in probably Judeo-Christian households. Hinduism is the furthest thing from us. And for a lot of us, we confuse Hinduism with Buddhism and with every other ism that there is.

[00:29:01] But no, we want to make sure that we get it right for you guys. And so, please call us out. But we don't want to start fear-mongering or anything like that. We just want to get to the heart of issue because 25,000 new residents here in the greater Warren County area, will shift a lot of resources. It will. And that's our main concern. Exactly. And this is like one, the last thing, and we'll move on. We heard that there's going to be 50,000 new people coming in.

[00:29:31] And this is like the first installment is what we've been told and what we've been hearing. And so, again, you are just as concerned as I am because as a parent, we want to make sure that our next generation of kids, things are being taken done right. So, with that said, moving on. But I just wanted people to know that we are on top of this. We're trying to do what we know, what we can.

[00:29:54] So, just bear with us and then tune in next week and see when we're going to have Miss Vanessa Miller in to talk more about it because there's a lot more. And I say that. Fake clap. That'll be great because Vanessa Miller, you guys got to read this article. It's in our newsletter, the local voice. It is. And it's well written. It's got a lot of, not just quotes, but a lot of deep journalism where there's a lot of statistical analysis. A deep dive, yeah.

[00:30:23] Yeah, she did a very deep dive in there. So, thank you, Vanessa. Thank you for what you're doing and your contribution to our overall team and for what you're doing for the community. There you go. And moving right in before we forget, we got to call him by 930. So, real quickly, we're going to talk a little about Valentine's Day, guys. There are a ton of people out there that have things going on, you know, Gondola, J's, Prater's Barbecue.

[00:30:53] There's so many restaurants going out right now with Valentine's Day specials and packages, begonias, Kimmy's, you know, the list goes on and on. And we try to put all that on our social media, on Facebook, Instagram, and X. So, everything is startling me today. It's okay. No, why we were laughing is because we were saying, ah, the windows may need to be cleaned. And this gentleman who does the cleaning, he does pretty much everybody here downtown.

[00:31:22] And he does a wonderful, wonderful job. And guess what? Windows are going to get dirty because it's, and here he just, we just mentioned it and bam, there he is. There he is. Thank you to our fine gentleman that gets the windows clean for the, I was trying to see what his back says, but he's got covered up. Looks like his brides. Shameless plug-in. Brides. But no, he's, he does a wonderful job. Go find out what his company's called. That's what you can do.

[00:31:49] But if you are looking for some flowers for your significant other this holiday season, Tree City Flowers and Gifts have their, they brought back their rainbow, their, essentially their rainbow bouquet, which looks like this. [00:32:44] Another thing we just posted, which I'm super excited about, is Journey from the Heart is coming back to Warren County. But that's not until March. But it's okay. That's all right. March will be here before you know it. And it'll be just in time for a great show like that. And so it's Journey and Heart together. It's going to be great. Oh, I want to clap so bad. See this. Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.

[00:33:14] Another thing we posted yesterday, and if anybody has not seen this yet, Melody was talking about it on air the other day, about how she got to go in the blue building before it started getting worked on and things like that. So if you want to see, because everybody's like, I can't believe they're doing this and that and whatever. Again, that building has been vacant for a long time. And so I say this as nice as I can. Stop the hating and start appreciating that somebody's taking the time on making it better. Well, listen.

[00:33:43] And using it. I did a study a few years ago about different buildings and locations. Yeah. And guys, what they've done, they're utilizing. They're accessing what makes that building great. It's got one of the best views looking back at Ben Lomond Mountain over the river. So kudos to the group that got that going. We talked about tater cakes. Tater cakes is coming in, you know, for food. And I believe also they're going to do coffee and Melody.

[00:34:11] And again, this is all on our Facebook page as well. Facebook, Instagram and X. Yeah, look at that window. It looks much better. This is like ASMR. I mean, we could watch this all day. I know. Someone was so satisfying. So satisfying. Well, he does such a great job. And thank you, McBrides, for what you do. We'll try to get him a wave in. What do you want him to come in? Thank you so much. He's probably working.

[00:34:41] A shout out to our coffee. Miss Tama is saying good morning. Good morning. Good morning, Derek. We've got a lot of great people on with us this morning. And Kelly, we've got a few more minutes. Actually, we're getting close. We're getting close. We're going to take a quick break. And then when we come back, we'll do our quick Dow Jones. Yes. And then we're going to talk to John Salloway.

[00:35:07] So keep it here at Warren First 931. It's not clicking. What is going on? Can I tell him that his business just gets sponsored? Hold on, Walt. Something is. Hold on, guys. I see it.

[00:35:37] It froze up. Right? Is that the best? I don't know what to do. Go to another page. Oh, it's just exit. Oh, yeah. Get out of there. Back, back, back, back. I can't. I can't. I can't get out. Mother, mother, mother. Just stop. You don't know. Yes, I did. There you go.

[00:36:11] That's quite all right. No, it's not. Are we still streaming? Let's see. Yeah, we're still streaming. That's. Sorry for the technical difficulty, guys. It is frozen up on us. This did this to me yesterday, and I had to restart my computer. Oh, yeah. Look. Okay. Well, then, guys, bear with us just for one moment. We're going to take a short break. It's going to pause out and then come back on. When we come back, we're going to have Mr. John Salaway of Forever Abbey Road. Yes.

[00:36:41] Yeah, look. It's frozen. Look at your screen.

[00:38:07] Okay. Are we back? I'm going to reload. Reload. Reload. Oh, yeah. We're back. We're back. Excellent. Welcome back to Warren First 931. We are going to do a quick word from our sponsors now because I want to make sure we get all of that on here for you guys. So, again, bear with us as we're getting back.

[00:41:56] We're just going to do that. All right. Welcome back to Warren First 931. I'm your host of the show, Kelly Walker-Slaughter. And I'm Brian Cullen. And we apologize for the technical difficulties. It has been one hellacious week with this weather. And I'm going to say when the weather is like this, it messes with all your electronics, as I say. So I'm going to blame it on the weather. But with that said, oh, do you want to get on him?

[00:42:26] He's on the phone. Say what it is I see in you. Come on in. We're going to make some room because we've got two special guests. We've got one live. And we want to thank our Tri-County Citizens Bank for sponsoring our Dow Jones Industrial Average. Right now it's 44,472.23 percentage points. So that's an average of 103, almost 104 points today.

[00:42:56] So thank you, Tri-County Citizens, for what you do. And, guys, we've got two special guests. If you're looking on your screen, you'll see Mr. John Salloway of Forever Abbey Road fame. Also, he's a well-known producer here in Nashville. And he's going to be doing a one-man show opening up for a band. Joe, tell us about the band that's playing tomorrow. Sister Hazel of 90s fame. You heard their songs back in the day.

[00:43:27] Happy, hard to say. It's going to be a great show, good storytelling. It's an acoustic duo show. So, yeah, it's going to be a big time. Have you all been talking to John today? He's on the phone. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Mr. John Salloway. Say hi to everybody here in Warden County. Now, John, we're so excited. Not just for Forever Abbey Road.

[00:43:54] Because that's really what we knew that you were going to be here this weekend on Saturday night. But then we got the news earlier this week that you were going to be opening up for Ken and Drew of Sister Hazel tomorrow night. So, tell us about your show and the way we understand it. It's going to be a one-man show. Tell us what you do, John. That's good. Sounds like a joke. Harvey, thanks, buddy. Good talking to you, John. We talk a lot via text message.

[00:44:23] But the phone calls are far and too between. Too far and too between. Right. We can show tomorrow night opening for those guys. And basically, I have a pedal board that has a few effects pedals and a loop station, which is basically a device that records things live on the spot. So, I record certain rhythm parts. And then I have a pedal that turns my guitar into a bass guitar. And then I record a bass line.

[00:44:51] Then I have other pedals that have strings and glutes and interesting sounds that we layer in the background of these songs. So, you can hear me play the music for four or five different instruments. But it's just me playing them all live on the spot. And I play it back. And it's really fun. I did this at the Park Theater opening up for the Kings and Queen a few years ago. And people seem to really love it. So, I'm excited to come back and do it again. It's a very cool show that John does. John is super talented.

[00:45:21] You know, he's a songwriter, musician, producer. Booking agent is the one I work with him most on. We love having John here. It's a super entertaining show. But, like, seriously, what he's describing here is so much more complex than the way he makes it sound. Like, he's playing all the voicings. He's playing all the different parts. It's really, really cool what he does. And then on top of that, you know, it's a great song underneath it.

[00:45:50] So, John is super talented. We're so glad to have John. Well, and I'm so excited to have both of you guys. Because, look, going to johnsalloway.com. He's got his own website here and everything. And to just go through the bio, I mean, golly, there's so much information. John, you can tell he's been doing this for a long time. And so, John, tell us how you got started in the music business.

[00:46:20] Drones sticks in my hand when I was an infant, basically. You know, so around 10 is when I first started playing drums and really getting into it. And, you know, before that, I was a really good baseball player. And when I found music, I just didn't care about how to play music all the time. And came right now. Please do me since I did. He's a drummer. And he sticks in my hands at such a young age. So I learned drums first. And then I learned guitar and bass guitar and the piano.

[00:46:50] And then I learned to sing and become a writer and producer. You know, by purchase for something else. But just cassette tapes. Multi-track set tapes with multiple tape decks. And then I moved to this area in 2003. I went to MTSU. I got my music business. I learned to be a producer. I do all the same music industry that I do. Well, that sounds like our very own Joe Harvey in a lot of ways.

[00:47:20] I remember recording eight tracks with him. Or just with cassette tapes. And how everything's transitioned to now having looping effects, pedals, and things like that. All the really cool stuff. So, and your other band. I mean, I know you've got tons of musical projects. But tell us a little about Forever Abby Rose.

[00:47:40] It's a Beatles experience because we're not worthlessly just being ourselves. We were four very professional musicians with very big resumes who absolutely loved Beatles. We're huge Beatles fanatics. And they inspired our lives. They inspired our careers. They taught us so much because, you know, as we were coming up as musicians,

[00:48:09] we learned all the parts. We learned all the songs. And to make us better. Made us better musicians by doing that. And, you know, so we come together because we love Beatles so much. And because we want to spread that message of peace and love. And the joy that people feel when they hear these songs live is really imitricable. It's really special. That's great. Come together. I love that.

[00:48:35] I've watched Joe perform multiple Beatles songs over the years. And it's that spirit of camaraderie. And then how much they changed music. 1964 was one of the biggest years in rock and roll and music evolution for where we're at in this day and age now. So, yeah. So, 64 to 71. It was in the grand scheme of things. It was a small window in time.

[00:49:05] But it was so impactful. Like, you still hear their influence on the radio today. So, yeah. And John and them do a great job with this show, man. Yeah. It's not the dress up, do the costume kind of show. But it is. It's such a faithful representation. But at the same time, a musical experience all its own. Like, they do such a great job with it.

[00:49:29] Like, it's never like anything out of left field where they're, you know, taking too far, too crazy of an interpretation on it. They're just doing the songs really, really well. It's a super talented group. We love Forever Every Road every time they come over. We absolutely love it. Well, that says a lot in itself because you're back. Yeah. And whenever we have somebody back. So, tell us about the audience. What do you see in the audience when you do your shows? Do you see a lot of gray hairs out there? Or do you see a lot of young people?

[00:49:59] It's definitely a range. All types of ages that come out to see us. You know, from children all the way to grandparents. And that's the beauty of it. You know, they're all having a great time. Well. One of our viewers that's on with us today, she's already said that she's going with her son and her dad. So, that's three generations represented. And I would encourage all of our listeners to bring somebody young.

[00:50:28] We've got to continue this music. It was so pivotal. So, foundational for the rock movement of the mid-60s. And so, yeah. And still, even today, you can go on the radio. During COVID, the Beatles, didn't they? The Beatles were up for a Grammy this year. What? What? Yeah, they were up for a Grammy. They had found a... It was a song that they had started to record. And I think Yoko issued it or gave it...

[00:50:58] Said she found it and then gave it to Paul. And Paul and Ringo kind of went and produced it. And they... Was there some... Hey, do you know much about that, John? Was there AI used for the... I don't know the useless knowledge about the Beatles. It was on record, but yes, I don't believe it. Yeah, they were... Yeah, but yeah. It was a demo tape that John recorded in his apartment in New York City. It was a couple songs that were demo tapes of Lennon's.

[00:51:27] And this is the third one. They attempted to work on it in the 90s. So, George did record some parts on it. But they didn't feel that he'd ever get it right. Because John Lennon's piano was in the vocal mic. He'd get the piano away from the vocal to make it clear. His voice from his piano on the demo tape. So, I couldn't make it clear.

[00:51:57] What a story. That's awesome. John, you're a wealth of knowledge. Just in that story alone. I can talk Beatles for days. We're going to have to get you on a trivia... A Beatles trivia night or something. Hey. Oh, yeah. Definitely. If you don't already, you should follow John on social media. He's a very entertaining person to watch. Just simply because of the musical adventures you see him go on.

[00:52:27] John, weren't you in Jamaica recently? Doing some... Working on a project? Thanks. Thanks, buddy. You were... Bob Marley's studio in Jamaica. Yeah. Yeah. Bob Marley's studio? That's what I'm talking about, man. That's awesome, man. It was incredible. Yeah, we love that. Small town, too. Can you tell us a little bit about what you were doing down there? Sure.

[00:53:02] So...

[00:53:04] I was a drummer for Texas at the University of Mexico last year.

[00:53:35] And we got Bob Marley's studio from Ziggy Marley's drummer. He brought us out there. So we brought this really delicious fresh food for us. We took us to all the interesting locations to beach. And I spent a week in Bob Marley's studio making new music. It was a dream come true. Wow. That's cool. Another skill that we didn't talk about, John.

[00:54:01] John has the incredible ability to so tastefully name drop. He does. He can kill it on the name dropping. I was trying to keep count. I was like, dude. Yeah. That's awesome. And you know, one thing, speaking of that, like, I mean, whoever wants to bring back Reggae at the River, I mean, boom. People would come to see that. So I'm talking about just some shows together.

[00:54:30] So we'll have to do something here now. Yeah. Yeah. We're... Oh! I'm not going to drop any dates. Oh! We're talking about... Oh, did I just accidentally start a conversation? We're talking about it some days. We're going to see if we can get some Reggae in at the Park Theater. You heard it here first. Yeah. Ah! I don't think we might be too upset about it. So that could be... And... Yeah. Yeah.

[00:54:58] We're really hoping we can get some of the local artists... I would love that to come back. Yeah. We love it. It's... You don't think of when you have local musicians that you're in McNamblee, you don't think you're going to have necessarily a Reggae band. But we have a really good one. We play new vibes. Those dudes are awesome. Those guys... Yeah. Great. And they did that festival down there. I was lucky enough. I played it one year. Yeah. And it was a good... It was such a good time. Such...

[00:55:27] Like, just really cool, laid-back vibes. And, you know, I just did... I found, like, some Reggae tunes that... Or Reggae-influenced tunes that I... That I'd loved before. And did those. And we did... And it... So it was... The Joe Harvey band doing Reggae was a... It was an experience. Oh, my God. But, yeah. So, yeah. The Joe Harvey Reggae experience. It was only a 30-minute set. I don't think we want to make it last any longer than that. I love it, though.

[00:55:57] So, John, since we have Joe here, let's tell the folks at home how they can get tickets for these two great shows. Okay. McMinnvilleParkTheatre.com. That's the place to do it. And that's actually the thing I've been... Whenever I get on local media, I try to run... Drive that home. You know, there's a lot of third-party ticket sellers out there. You want to go to McMinnvilleParkTheatre.com. We've had people who can buy tickets through these third-party sellers. But you're always going to end up getting, like, a huge ticketing fee on top of it.

[00:56:26] Like, $30 or something crazy like that. So, we want to avoid that. McMinnvilleParkTheatre.com. All those links on there. We're going to take you to the right place. And you're going to pay the least you can pay for the tickets. But, yes. Friday night, Sister Hazel. Acoustic show with John Salloway opening up. And then on Saturday night at 7, Forever Abbey Road. It's going to be a great show. Oh, the other plug I've got to do. We're doing a Valentine's Day special this weekend.

[00:56:54] So, you know, you take your date out to any of the local restaurants. Any local McMinnville restaurant. You bring your receipt for your dinner to the Park Theater. Show it at the concession stand. You get a free popcorn. Oh. That's smart. A little special, a little extra cherry on top of the break night of entertainment. I love that. We love that. So, John, thank you so much for being with us. I want to clap. But I don't want to short you out.

[00:57:24] That's been our thing. Brian's got to stop clapping. Can't stop. So, we've actually put a sign up. Kelly brought a sign up for me to stop clapping. So, John, great to get to meet you. Thank you so much for what you do. For music in general. Keeping things like the Beatles alive and relevant. And teaching a younger generation about great music. So, guys, thank you, Mr. John Salloway. We're going to go to a commercial break here in just a moment. We'll come back with Joe Harvey.

[00:57:53] We'll find out a little more of what's going on in the future. We've got some Park Theater shows to talk about coming up. We've got Mary Poppins. What's popping, Mary Poppins? Yeah. It's coming up. So, stay tuned with us. Keep it first here at Warren First.

[00:58:34] Thanks, everybody. We'll be right back.

[01:01:23] Have you driven a Ford lately? All right, guys. Welcome back to Warren First 931. I'm your host of the show, Kelly Walker-Slaughter. And I'm Brian Carr. And we have Joe Harvey. I was going to let you do your name. Oh, I like hearing other people say that. Okay. Joe Harvey, Joe Harvey, Joe Harvey.

[01:01:51] But with that said, I just want to get right into it. You know, kudos. I want to say congratulations, first and foremost, on the Taylor Swift experience. Oh, yeah. It was a huge, huge success. Now, I know this is the first time, you know, that we've done something like in that, not genre, but in that, you know, it's Taylor Swift. I mean, she's her genre in her own right. Yeah, it's something new. Something that we hadn't tried there before.

[01:02:19] I was talking to Brian, who was nice enough to attend. He had a big time with his girls there. In that demographic, that younger demographic, that tween to, you know, millennial. We don't. Our millennials. Yeah. Yeah. We don't get to entertain them very much. There's not a lot that would come around here. So, we wanted to try something new. And, man, it was a hit. It was the most, I've said this, the most enthusiastic crowd I've seen at the park. I've seen some enthusiastic crowd.

[01:02:49] But, man, those kids, they, and adults, they were down front. They were singing along, yelling, screaming, having a big time. Every, like, I didn't hear a negative comment all night. Yeah, it was just a big time for all. And the band was so good. Like, I knew they were going to be good, but they blew my expectations out of them. Did they? Yeah. And then the dress changes. There was, just like at the Taylor Swift concert, I heard there was, like, what, three or four? Oh, no.

[01:03:16] They did some on, like, in the, like, in between the stage. Or on stage, in between songs. The umbrellas. The umbrella thing. The tearaway. Wow. Sorry. I was at the border battle supporting the Pioneers. It was a busy night. There were a lot of things happening last weekend. And sometimes you can't really control those things. But, look, for these young ladies and young boys, this is their first experience at the park theater. Their first show. It was incredible.

[01:03:46] I was talking to Mark Morrow over there. Yeah. Because he was patrolling. And I said, this is the easiest show you'll ever have to do. Because everybody was so well-behaved. Everybody was having such a good time. And it was that totally Taylor vibe. Yeah. That everybody used to see excited. And the girls were dancing and jumping up, I saw. Yeah. Everybody was jumping up. Yeah. Couldn't speak highly enough of the way it turned out. Yeah.

[01:04:15] It so exceeded my expectations. Well, with the whole thing going on, what was really cool is I saw a lot of guys like me. They're girl dads. Yeah. And they were there. And we were half-having each other and saying, man, this is so exciting for all these children to be able to have something like that. Girl dads were out in force on Friday night, man. We had a big time.

[01:04:39] So I was telling you, you know, I hear stories all the time about, you know, these great stories that people come in and they'll tell me about their experiences. A lot of the summer showtime stories that people had in the park theater. You know, great memories from their youth. And actually, we have one lady whose father used to hold my position. Oh, sure. Yeah. Her dad used to manage the park theater.

[01:05:05] But anyways, but we, yeah, so I hear all these great stories from kids and youth. And we really, really wanted to give this next generation a chance to have those same great core memories, you know, have memories that allow them to cherish the park theater as much as the generation before them does. So we're hoping to do that. We seem like that one works, so we'll have to try more like that.

[01:05:34] And so we have another opportunity to do that, to expand that generational gap, make that bridge with Forever Happy Road. Yeah. And then we've got some more shows coming up. You just dropped a big one on McVinville yesterday. Tell us about one. Let's see. I don't want to get the date wrong. March 29th. Yes. We've got Journey from the Heart coming. They were here last year. Huge hit. Like, they just brought the house down. We had a big crowd for that show.

[01:06:03] It's a Journey and Heart tribute. So a couple of years ago, you might have seen we had the band Barracuda, who was just a heart tribute. They are kind of the core of it. And so they bring their show, and then they bring in, I forget the gentleman's name, but a male singer to sing all the Journey parts. It's great. Solid band. Great show. They mix it up. It's not like one and then the other. You kind of get the mix through the whole night.

[01:06:32] And they do songs together. It's so good. The top-notch band. Well, it's another one, gentlemen, we were just talking to, brought to you via John Salley. John Salley, on top of being an incredible musician and producer and songwriter, he's also a great booking agent. He's brought us that band. He brought us the Petty Junkies. He's bringing us Kings of Queen. Oh, wow. We're going to be there the next weekend. I didn't laugh. Oh, you almost did. That's what I'm excited about, too. Tell us about the Kings of Queen, because they've been here before.

[01:07:03] Yes. They were here. It was October of 2022 was the last time they were here. They come out. That is the closest thing to Freddie Mercury you're ever going to see. Wow. He gets out there. That's not good. Costume changes, mustache, all of it. And then the voice on top of that. And once again, just a group of super nice guys. They come in. They kill it. I run the lighting board for them.

[01:07:29] And that was my first experience trying to move the spotlight with the lead singer. I was worn out at the end of that night. I bet you are. I was just moving faders on a board, but he's all over the place. Super entertaining show. That's the next weekend. That's March. King of Queens. April 12th. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I highlighted it for you. Thank you so much. April, April 12th. Yes. And that's going to be a great show.

[01:07:58] Get your tickets to it now. Yeah. Don't want to miss that one. If you're a Queen fan at all. Yeah. They hit all the high notes on that one. You know, it comes on the heels of the movie that I love, Bohemian Rhapsody. I thought that was a great movie. I love that. But so this guy, he's got the look like Robbie Malick, but he's also got the voice too. So it's a great time. But then, yeah, I mean, we've got so much other stuff coming. I have to remind myself about the things we got going on.

[01:08:27] For the kids. Yeah. Two shows coming that are part of our kind of our family friendly series. The Great Dubois. It is a two person circus. That's the way they refer to themselves. It's an acrobat show. They're going to bring in some rigging and they're going to do like high wire acts and stuff. They were in the great. They were two of the acrobats in The Greatest Show. Oh, wow. Shut up. They've done all the late night shows and everything.

[01:08:53] But they're going to come in here and do all that fun acrobatic stuff. That I would never, ever think to try at all. Oh, hey. I'm going to give him a hug. Catch him while you can. Oh, man. That's Dr. Roberts. And Dr. Roberts, he's down the way. He's hanging out with me. He's partnering crime out here. Yeah, we're very blessed here to be right here in front of the Historic Park Theater.

[01:09:21] And you never know who's going to come our way. And it's so, we're so thankful to have you. And what you're doing at the Park Theater with these family-friendly shows. We've got the Warn Arts, Mary Poppins coming up. Oh, yes, yes. Mary Poppins is going to be a great show. Next Friday. Yeah. A week from today is going to be their opening night. The wonderful Dana Saxton putting that one together. Yes. She's doing great. All the Warn Arts shows are so good that they bring over there. But, yeah, that one's going to be next weekend.

[01:09:50] So, we'll see. That one's going to – I've got a daughter in it. Are you in it? My girls aren't in it. They're not in that one. Not in this one. Yeah, it's Mary Poppins. It's a junior play. So, it's about 70 minutes long. So, it's not – that's one of those movies you go back and watch and you forget how long. Oh, yeah. It's nearly three hours. So, I was surprised they were able to turn it down, but it's great. Like, they hit all the high notes, a bunch of the great songs.

[01:10:18] So, yeah, that one – Mary Poppins by Warn Arts is going to be – it's going to be a good one. And then our local experience that we're having, the local connection. You see, Brian, they're going to be coming on our show, actually, and we are going to do an acoustic set. Nice. So, to lead into it. Is that the first live performance on – is that going to be the first – nice. Yeah, right. Good deal. So, Joe's going to come and help us set up sound. That'll be a good time. Yeah. That'll be a good time.

[01:10:46] No, we love TC Bryant, man. They're going to be – it's going to be a great show. The tickets are going – selling well for that one. So, yeah, we're super excited about that one. And then we got – like, you kind of hinted at another local show. We're going to – I'm not going to say a date yet, but we're looking at that one and then another one on top of that. Okay. So, if they would like to do a little acoustic sets over here, let's do it. Do it. Oh, yeah. I think that would be great. Or do the podcast over there. Well, anytime you guys want. Y'all let me know. We'll speak in.

[01:11:16] Well, he's got to set my alarm extra. Okay. Okay. I'll let you know when the TC Bryant's coming. Now, next week we're going to be trying to get on our friends from the Waylon Jennings tribute. Yes, yes. So – and thank you, yes, for – You know the connection on that one. Oh, I do know the connection. You know the connection. One of the best shows I've ever been to. I got to work as kind of the roadie. And we flew up to Albany, New York. Yeah. To open up for Blake Shelton.

[01:11:44] But Joe and my brother Lee and my other brother Evan, they opened up for Blake Shelton with this trio of beautiful girls. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And they didn't want me to go talk to Blake Shelton because they didn't want to ruin it. They didn't want me to ruin it for them. It's just about the Carter's Chord, the girls. And you can tell us more about that. Oh, it was the summer of 2007.

[01:12:08] The Joe Harvey Band was playing backing band to a great, great sister trio called Carter's Chord. And they are the children of Barney and Carter who were in Waylon Jennings' band. They were on Toby Keith's label back in the day. And, yeah, we did a small tour of shows with them. Probably the most exciting one was we got flown to Albany, New York, and we got to open for Blake Shelton.

[01:12:36] I was going to say, I'm a super Blake Shelton fan. I'm like, what? Speaking of groovy music, though, they did do a show in Shreveport, Louisiana. And the hotel that we stayed in was the same hotel that George Clinton and Parliament. And we were getting ready to go out after the show. And George Clinton stopped the guys. I just happened to be with them. He said, man, you guys did a great job out there.

[01:13:03] And it's like they all look at each other. We were all like, it's George Clinton. He just approved. He validated me. I feel validated. Yeah, that was a wild time ago. Yeah. So Barney and Carter, both coming with the Waylon Jennings show on, what did you have that date? I don't want to get that word. Oh, yeah. Hold on. That's the first week. I think it's March 1st. March 1st. Yeah. Which one? I shouldn't. Hold on. The Jennings band presented by fire. Yes. March 1st.

[01:13:33] And tickets are on sale for that. And guys, you do not want to miss that one. These are the original members of the band. And just like John was talking about earlier, off air that you may not have heard, with musicians, you never know what gig they're going to get next. So there's always coming and going.

[01:13:53] But we're very blessed to be this close to Nashville and have amazing musicians like John and the remaining members of Waylon's band to still be able to perform and come to little old McMinnville to our wonderful park theater and put on shows for you guys. And, you know, I want to say this before we cut to break for our last one for the day.

[01:14:17] I want to say ever since I knew that Joe got this job at the park theater, I knew that we were in good hands and he was going to have a variety of different flavor, as I call it now for this month. Because, I mean, we were so used to, you know, the same thing, the same genre, the same. And then when I knew Joe got it, I'm like, oh, my God. I remember when me and Christy Ross were like, he's going to mix it up. It's going to be different.

[01:14:44] And, you know, and you, I want to say, like, as you have gotten more and more into it, I mean, every year just gets better, Joe. I want you and Ashley and everybody that's a part of this to know that. Because I just think this, this is just another, a mover and shaker in our community in this entertainment side. The way I say it is, God groomed Joe for this job. Yeah, 100%.

[01:15:07] What a lot of people may not know is when John was talking about being at MTSU and everything, our good friend Joe Harvey, he was there around that same era. And from just being a musician on top of being in the music business, on top of recording, on top of being able to keep up with the technology. God has groomed this man to be where he is right now.

[01:15:33] And we're so blessed to have one of our very own and a guy I consider a great friend and mentor because I learn a lot from Joe every time. And I'll be learning a lot from him here soon about doing the sound and music for our Warren Arts project. That's right. So thank you, Joe. Hey, hey, I appreciate it, guys. Thank you all so much. Thank you, guys, for helping us to broadcast that to the people that we're doing over there. Yeah.

[01:16:00] Every day I come in, I walk in that building, I just look up and I'm thankful that our community wanted to invest that time, money, and effort into restoring that building. And that, you know, our community cares that much about the arts to where we want to, you know, invest back into it and make sure that not just the current generation, but the generations to come get to enjoy it. I agree. Thank you guys so much. Thank you all for having me on. Come over anytime.

[01:16:29] I say this all the time. Every time. If I see you all over here, if I see that light on, I'm always like, is there anybody over there? It's the bat light. Yeah. It's the signal. Well, but keep it here at Warren First 931. We will be back with more Joe and finish up the show here. Okay. So let me make sure I hit my right button. [01:19:16] Welcome back to Warren First 931. Joe had to go right quick because I think somebody was going to buy tickets or something. But again, get those tickets for Friday and or Saturday because, I mean, two great back-to-back shows. And, I mean, I'm not joking when I say that we are blessed to have Joe and Ashley in those seats over there at the Park Theater because the shows this year or last year and leading into this year, it has been one good show after another great show.

[01:19:44] And then, oh, my gosh, great show. I'm going to be broke going to all these shows. I know, right? But listen, I don't have to go to Nashville for them. No. I can go see them here. And where we've got free parking, we've got good restaurants downtown, and we get to support our local home folks here. So, and it's just, we're so blessed to have two of our own locals here running and doing such a fantabulous job. So, again, when you see them in town, tell them how grateful you are that they're a part of this community.

[01:20:14] You know, I don't care where we're from, what we believe in, red, white, black, purple. We should be proud to have these folks representing our community and being a part of it. Yeah, and speaking of communities, I want to give a shout-out to Citizens Tri-County Bank. They're sponsoring our Dow Jones Industrial Average look today. We're up 161 points right now. So, the market's looking strong over the last five days. We're trying to rebound back. We've had a lot of stuff go on this week.

[01:20:44] But, yeah, thank you, Citizens Tri-County Bank. We've got a lot to look forward to with them. And we're going to hopefully get them on here where they can talk about investment products and things that we need to be doing. We can have Shane in there. Yeah, yeah. I would love to have them on to tell us, give us some good information about what's going on. Another person to watch out for, especially Reese's Fridays at Supreme Building. Oh, yeah, FYI Fridays with Reese Moore at Supreme Building Products.

[01:21:13] They are one of our sponsors. And they're also one of our only sponsors currently for the Pioneer Playbook. So, if you don't follow Reese on your personal Facebook account or whatever, you can always ask a messenger or send something to us, something that you want to know about. And we can make sure we can get it to him. We're really excited about working with him. And his dad and everybody. And those fine folks at Supreme Building. And look, right now it's not raining. So, if you need to go get some wood or get some things.

[01:21:41] And look, they've got more than just what you think of wood and nails and things like that. Oh, yeah. Oh, they've got all kinds of stuff. And paints. They got paint stains. Regular paint. They got shingles. They got nails. And, again, in their commercial, it's a state-of-the-art lumber yard. It really is because they even package stuff for people that's not from here and ship it off. That's great. So, yeah, they've got a really nice website that you can go online and look at.

[01:22:10] But, yeah, if you haven't been lately, you need to go down and see what's going on in there. And just you'll be amazed. And you'll want to start going there instead of going to the chain stores like Lowe's and other places. Because you'll want to do, when they take care of you, they take great care of you. So, they'll make you a customer for life. And they've been in business since 1963. I'm telling you, that means volume to me in my head.

[01:22:37] Like, why would you go to something that's a big box store? You want to go to your local mom and pop stores that have all these experiences and all that. And, yes, sometimes you're paying more than, you know, what you would do at the big box store. But there's a reason why. It's the quality. You know, when you go to Supreme, they're not going to give you something that's cheap. You know, they're going to give you a Supreme product because they want you as the customer to feel Supreme. And I said Supreme a lot.

[01:23:06] Well, thank you, David and Reese and the Moore family and all the fine people that work there at Supreme Building Supply. We're very blessed to have you as one of our sponsors. Thank you guys so much. And also, too, before I forget to mention, guys, put on your calendar, Sonic, another one of our amazing sponsors. They have things going on all month long for February. You know, the small popcorn shrimp is coming up. I can't remember the date right off the top of my head.

[01:23:34] But I want to say it's February the 24th, I believe. Because, yeah, I want to say that. No, February 26th is when the small popcorn shrimp, you can get a great deal on that. And also, if you missed out on those half-fry shakes yesterday, I got mine yesterday. And then starting on February the 24th is the Mango Nada Slush. And if you have not, I haven't tried it yet.

[01:24:02] We're going to get to try it when it comes out. And also, too, the Smash Burgers. Me and Brian were lucky enough to go this week to test them out. You will get to see a video this week on it. I don't know what's in that sauce. But, by God, that was delicious. It's worth going over to Sonic. Just for the burger alone. And whether you get the regular Smash Burger or you get the bacon Smash Burger,

[01:24:31] you can't go wrong on either one of them. They're so good. And make sure you get the meal with the groovy fries. Well, Kelly, when we shot that the next day or later that night, I had to work. I know. And one of the things I love about our Sonic is that whenever I get off on night shift, so all you guys at Bridgestone, all you folks that work night shift, if you want to eat regular food, because when you get off at night, everybody's serving breakfast food. But if you go to Sonic, they'll fix you whatever you want.

[01:25:01] And that's what I love about it. And so I had that Smash Burger was so good. I had to have one the next morning. I know. It was so good. So thank you, Sonic. Well, my mouth is watering. I know. I'm talking about it now on another one. We may go to Sonic today. We may go to Sonic today. But these are just a few of our amazing sponsors. We got our coffee. We have, and I'm going to grab your sign. So I don't want to miss anybody. So I wanted to make sure I wrote everybody down. I want to say shout out to our coffee.

[01:25:28] Tina and them do a phenomenal job on making coffees and teas. And when I say coffee, it's hot or cold. You know, again, different variety. And they are located right on when you're on Beresheba Highway right there. You know, or Beersheba, however you want to call it. And then, of course, McMinnville Lawn and Garden. Shout out to Scotty, killing them. And we will be introducing their commercial, hopefully, this time tomorrow. Just yesterday, my mom called and talked to Mr. Allen. Yes.

[01:25:57] And they're scheduling a pickup to pick up our lawnmower to get it serviced. Oh, that's perfect. And we've had that lawnmower nearly 20 years. Yeah. But if you take care of them, they'll take care of you. And so, and then we've got one of the Skag Tiger Cubs. That's what I was going to say. What branded you got? It's a Skag. And so, thank you, Mr. Scotty Keel and the family for what you do for supporting us. And we want to support you as well. Yes, exactly. And shout out to Stacey's Pharmacy.

[01:26:25] As, again, you know, it is flu season. It's cold cough. I mean, this weather, again, another reason why a bunch of these schools, not just Warren County, have closed down. Because they're trying to, like, let the sickness go through. And so, again, enjoy your holiday, as I call it. But if you're in need of cough syrup, Stacey's makes the Mr. Stewart's cough syrup, the prescription one and the non-prescription one. So, make sure you get some before you're sick at home and need some. Exactly. Exactly.

[01:26:54] And a shout out to Gary Prater and them at Prater's Barbecue. They just jumped on this week with us. And we will also be seeing a commercial pop in. And all these people, again, I'm telling you, these are the movers and shakers of our community. And we have so many more people that want to be involved in this podcast. We're just going to get out to you. And we'll come to you all next week, I promise. And I want to do the people that started out with me when I started last year. I want to say a shout out to Randall Walker Farms.

[01:27:24] My mom's always been really supportive of anything I do. And then a shout out to Tree City, Susan Bain. She's the real estate company that's been with us since the beginning. Gateway Tire and Service Center. Shout out to Katrina and them. They do a phenomenal job as well. Reddick Brownford, Chris Selfant. Love them, folks. Also, a shout out to Champion in McMinnville. Alex and Amanda Nath do a phenomenal job. And they are huge. All these people, it's the same thing.

[01:27:54] Everybody I'm talking about is a huge part of this community. And, of course, Ronald's Renovation, you know, we're in the market right now working on our house. And so they help with the inside of things, you know, putting up cabinets and such. So if you're looking to remodel your home or if you're building a new home and you need a quote, I always say this, get three quotes. Just like the city and county does. You need to find, like, go and get three different quotes and find out what best price works for you.

[01:28:24] And then lastly, Pinnacle Orthopedics. Carrie Morton or Carrie Hurtwig and them and Dr. Peterson. Phenomenal. Phenomenal. But, again, these are just a few of the ones that have kept the lights on here at, you know, Warren first. And, you know, I couldn't do the show without them. I couldn't do the show without Brian. So and Melody. There's so many people. So I just want to say a shout out. I feel like I should give a thank speech this morning.

[01:28:54] Thank you, Steve. Well, we're very blessed to have all these great institutions that work with us. And actually, we're looking for a few more. Yeah, we are. That clap wasn't very loud. It's OK. It wasn't. It didn't pop too hard. But we're looking at other things. And with the flu season going on and especially with tax season going on right now, we're looking for some sponsors. We can let people know where you're at. How people can help you on your taxes. I'm not that smart on when it comes to that.

[01:29:23] My husband takes care of that and gives it to the right people. We go to Tetherill at Helen and Welch right now. So if you're a business that's in need of advertisement and letting people know, hey, this is what I do. You need to come see us. Make sure to like and subscribe on all the different platforms because we have so many. We're getting it out there. And what's beautiful is that if you're on Facebook, you can see the views on our Facebook. We've got Twitter now. We've got, I mean. We got two X accounts.

[01:29:51] We got one Facebook account. We have one Instagram account. We have a YouTube account. Then we also have Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Audible. Anyway, you can. And the great thing about what we deliver here is you don't just hear it one time. You can hear it as many times as you want whenever you want. If you miss it, you can go back and listen to it.

[01:30:16] If you're in the comfort of your at work and you can't be on your phone, but you can have an earbud in. Well, guess what? Y'all, that audio works just as good. And we don't mind dropping names. Cumberland Biscuit Company. Cumberland. Topps Metro Studio. Topps Frozen Yogurt and Metro Deli Studios. I saw what you were putting down. Listen, we can talk about all these things because they're part of our community. They are.

[01:30:44] They're the people that are supplying us with the information and the needs and the things that get this community going. Just like the Park Feeder, we've got a great relationship with Joe. And we're just so grateful for all the things and all the ways that we can talk and expose your business and the people that are watching this. But we need you, our listeners, the people who are watching this, to let us know what you want. Let us know how you're doing. Engage with us.

[01:31:12] And so the big story, circling back, just putting pins on it. We talked about the issue. That's one of the big ones. Galentine's. Joe Harvey even talked about bringing your ticket over from your restaurant. And you get free popcorn. Get your popcorn. So there's all kinds of little ins and outs. And yes, today is National Galentine's Day. Celebrate accordingly. So make sure that you get with your gal pals tonight. And let us know how it was because we'll be on tomorrow.

[01:31:42] I would love to know. Now, I may not be here. It depends on. I have a friend that helps sub for her. And I don't turn her down ever because she doesn't take off a lot. And so when she takes off, it's family related. So with that said, I may be here tomorrow. I may not. But Brian is going to take good care of you guys. And speaking of tomorrow, well, speaking of today, today, tonight at the dawn, we've got girls basketball and boys basketball. Let's go, Pioneers. We're facing Lincoln County.

[01:32:11] And tonight it starts at 6 p.m. with our girls basketball. Boys at 7. I'm sorry, 7. 7. 7. And then tomorrow, we've got a full slate of things going on. We've got the girls regional wrestling tournament, which will be in Cleveland, Cleveland High School. We've got boys basketball at 4 p.m. Starting with our JV boys. We've got our girls basketball at 6. And we've got our varsity boys at 7.

[01:32:41] I'm sorry, 7.30. And that's against Cannon County. So we're looking for big wins there. We also have one of our first archery tournaments of the season. And that's going to be, it says it's at 8.20 p.m. And so hopefully we can get some more information on that. And then we've got our blessed Pioneerettes and our Warren County Middle School Pioneerettes down in Florida. So we've got the Pioneerettes. And it says 8.33 p.m.

[01:33:10] NDA National Championship. And then our boys wrestling. We're going to go to sectionals. And I think that's in McMinn County. We'll find out for sure. But that will be on the 15th of Saturday. And then, look, we've got, it looks like middle school boys. Jam-packed. Soccer going on Saturday. Yep. And they don't have an actual thing. But it says to be determined. We've got JROTC Drill and Color Guard.

[01:33:40] The Hazel Green Navy JROTC Drill Meet going on tomorrow. I'm sorry, Saturday at 8 a.m. We've got at Bob Jones High School. We've got the Bob Jones High School Cup District with our Color Guard and Winter Guard. And that's going to be at 6.35 p.m. on Saturday. So, guys, we've got a lot of stuff going on in the world of sports. So, stick with us and we'll make sure to get you the results. But if you haven't, you need to get this app.

[01:34:07] If you have not downloaded the Pioneer Sports app, which we're going to post this up here. We've been doing this. Shout out to Mr. Lippy and them. Here is the, and I'm going to just go right there. Look, guys, you can download it right now on your screen. Just scan it on your camera real quick, less than three minutes to set up. It's free of charge. And, again, it has everything you need.

[01:34:35] The breaking news stories, the scores, the right now since it's Black History Month, they have been showcasing the Hall of Famers that are, you know, that are Black History peeps. Shout out to Charlie Dalton, which that's what our gym's named after. Shout out to Lisa Dalton. Barbara Biles, a.k.a. Babs. Shout out to Jerry Gooby Martin. I mean, and, again, we did a little, all this was from the Hall of Fame off the Warren County page.

[01:35:05] And I wanted to make sure to put that in there because, again, there is so much to be grateful for in our community and with these holidays that are coming up. I'm pushing for Jerry Lusk to be in the Hall of Fame, too. Jerry Lusk was the running back, the tailback for the 1973 10-0 team that won all their games, coached by Pedro Paz. I really think that Jerry Lusk needs to be in there. Shout out. Great running back. Wound up going with my daddy to UT Martin on a full-ride scholarship.

[01:35:35] That's awesome. Another thing that we need to talk about for tomorrow night, it is senior night. It is. So we want to recognize those seniors. We've got a lot of wonderful people that, you know, our basketball team, especially our boys' basketball team, is killing it right now. One of the reasons is because of the senior leadership that's on the team. So it's going to be a very special night tomorrow night. But remember, the game is still on tonight versus Lincoln County. Yeah. So make sure that you catch that tonight and then tomorrow night. So a lot of good things happening.

[01:36:05] So many things are happening. And also, mark in your calendar, if you want to check out our newsletter, the Business Buzz section, the Chamber of Commerce has events going on as well. The next one coming up for them is a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, February the 20th. And it's going to be the Hope Chest Thrift Store. Okay. And again, and it didn't say a date or, I mean, not a date. It did give the date, but I'm assuming the time is probably 11, 1130.

[01:36:33] But you can see all that on their website as well. And I also want to say congratulations again on the relocation of the Caney Fork. Oh, yeah. You know, the new building looks phenomenal. And before we let you go for today, guys, the upcoming events are being sponsored by Reddick Brown Board. Shout out to NYP. They're having a February luncheon. Today at 12 o'clock at the Black History Museum.

[01:37:00] And so if you are interested in becoming an NYP, you can go and talk to, you know, the folks there today if you want. Also, if you've got kids that, you know, love skater boys and skater girls, the Hot Wheels Skate Center is having their skate or sweetheart skate at 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The mission is $8 and a $2 for your rental on skates. There's going to be balloons, chocolate, and candy will be available to purchase. So I think that's really cool.

[01:37:30] Also, Chapters and Dice is having an event on February the 14th at 11 a.m. They're doing like a author signing and things. So make sure you check that out. Also, too, if you have not done this, the McMinnville Special Games, and all this that I'm mentioning is in our community calendar. It's their first, their very first meeting of 2025. It's a super important for one, and we need you. They're looking for volunteers.

[01:37:59] We will be discussing sponsors, upcoming events, and so much more. We will serve pizza and also have door prizes. Join us and help us make a difference to make the lives of some spectacular men, women, and children in Warren County. And that is going to be tonight at 530 is when their meeting is. And, of course, we already talked about Abbey Road and Ken Block and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel. They're going to be this weekend at the Park Theater.

[01:38:29] And did y'all talk about Mary Poppins? February 20th through the 23rd, so a week from tomorrow. It's opening night, so we've got a lot of young people excited about that. So we're going to be going through our tech week. We've got practice tonight, so I should be there learning about our sound. Yeah. And it's always exciting to see the kids get excited because they haven't been practicing with microphones yet. So when they get the mics and when they're different. Oh, yeah.

[01:38:57] The intensity revs up a few notches there. And then also, if you have a kid that is interested in ever wanting to learn what the arts is and acting and all that, this is a good time to get them in when they do plays like this. It's called The Lion King Jr. You ever heard of it? I do the other song. Have you heard the other one? No, no. It's a wonderful phrase. Not that one. Not a Lion King song.

[01:39:26] It's a parody. We'll play it. Kelly's in the school. Kelly is. Why do you think I said the other day? I need to check my social media. See who likes me. You're going to get a kick out of this song. I'm going to play you later. Kelly, I love doing this with you. We have so much fun, guys. Squirrel. But anyways, auditions for The Lion King. And see now you got me clapping. The auditions for Lion King Jr.

[01:39:56] I'm putting my hands right here. Are going to be February the 22nd, 1030 a.m. to 12 p.m. And February the 23rd from 430 to 530. And this is all going to be at the Warren County High School Auditorium. It says, come prepared to sing a song of your choice if needed. And listen to the Circle of Life solo part. Also be prepared to do a cold read from the script. So again, several events. The Chili Cook-Off. February the 22nd.

[01:40:25] And this is with the Silent Creed folks. We're going to try to get them on to talk a little bit more about that. And also to Master Gardeners. I keep the flyer up on here. And then I'm just going to mark out the dates. Their next big thing, which was already. We already missed the February 11th. And that with Tim Hitchcock. Guys, Daylily Nursery. They do a phenomenal job. Tim is wonderful. And he tells this story about before he got into doing Daylilies, he was a dairy farmer. He was.

[01:40:55] So having to get up and be with the cows. And we had a cow that was having a baby or, you know, just staying up sick cow and everything. We had to be on call at all times. He said he's never been kicked by. They're not open yet. But if you want to wait. They got 30 minutes left. You're okay. You're good. Oh, no, you're fine. It's okay. Cumberland's open, though. Yeah. I thought I locked that. Oh, Walker unlocked it. That's all right. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:41:23] But Tim tells the story about how a Daylily has never kicked him. A Daylily has never pooped on him. So, yeah. Guys, the Master Gardeners is such a wonderful program. If you just want to go and check it out, I'm sure now, you've got to remember, there are limited seats. But if they have their next series of classes, make sure that you sign up for them. And it's cheaper if two people sign up for them. It's only $25 more. So, and it's always fun to do it with somebody else.

[01:41:53] And the next class is coming up. The fruit trees are on February the 18th. Plant. But two, is it? What is that? Papaya. I don't know what that is in breeding. Maybe that's pulpo. It is a Master Gardener term that I cannot read. It's too itty-bitty for me. It's on the back. It's all. But it's going to be on February the 25th. Oh, plant propagation.

[01:42:23] So, that means the way you distribute your plants and put them out. Because some plants don't need to be next to other plants. Some plants need to be in shade. Some plants need to get more sunlight. Yeah. So, propagating and putting them in the right spots. But I'll tell you, last year when I signed up for the course, my good friend John Adam Turner over at Turner Nursery on the 56th Highway.

[01:42:53] Wonderful. You talk about knowing his content, knowing his subject matter. He can tell you all about fruit trees. So, yeah. You're going to be blessed when you sit here because there's just going to be a wealth of information that you wouldn't be able to get just anywhere else. Exactly, guys. And there's so many things happening in Moore County. And I don't know all the details to this one event, but I want to give some more love to Prater's Barbecue because they are one of our sponsors.

[01:43:17] May the 5th is going to be their 30-year celebration being in business at the Morrison location. This past summer, they celebrated 11 years at the Manchester location. And so, on May 5th is going to be the official birthday date for 30 years in business. And I just think that's amazing. On top of that, Gary and a lot of folks are getting together. They're going to have a rib, steak, and chicken cook-off.

[01:43:45] That's going to be with the SCA Association. And mark your calendars for June the 14th because that is tentatively the date that they are going to be doing it on. But, again, they're going to have it at the Prater's Barbecue field that's right over there. And, again, there's going to be beer and barbecue and everything. And I am a huge fan of some steaks. So, again, this is going to be another fun event.

[01:44:13] I think this is, you know, we used to have, we called it Smoking in McMinnville. And we don't have that anymore. I don't know who was over it. I don't know how to bring it back. But this is going to remind me of that. And that's what I was kind of talking with Gary about. But we're going to help them together put this thing and make it a nice time. But I want to make sure to tell everybody now. So, June 14th, if you're into ribs or steak or chicken, there's going to be a cook-off. Oh, buddy.

[01:44:42] Look, that's right around the Bonnaroo time. So, if you can't go to Bonnaroo, hey, man, come hang out with them. I'm pretty sure they'll have some live music or something going on that'll be entertaining on top of it to go with all the good food and everything. So, shout out to Prater's. And, Kelly, I can't stop thinking about those smoked wings. Oh, I know. Those are so, so good. I'm so glad we did that. But I'm telling you guys, we are gearing up for March Madness.

[01:45:10] So, be paying attention to our social media on all that stuff because we're going to have so many ways for you to win prizes. It's going to be phenomenal. And this is for men and women. I don't care how you do the brackets, guys. Look, we're doing an ESPN bracket that's going to be just for Warren First. Or, actually, we'll probably name it the Warren First Pioneer Playbook. Yeah. And it's going to be winner takeoff. Anybody can win.

[01:45:37] We'll probably get together and do a special section where we get together and do our picks. Yes. And talk about why we pick. And it will be color choices. Oh, color choices. I'm going to do what I do every year. Whoever wears the best uniforms, the color choices. Speaking of color choices. I've got to get green. I know. I'm going today. No, no, no. Look, keep those for Valentine's Day. No, no, no. You have parts on them. They're getting too long, Brian. They're starting to poke my eye out.

[01:46:06] That's why I can't put my contacts in. That's why I'm wearing my old lady glasses today. Oh, not the red ones. No, I can't wear my red ones today. No, not today. I don't feel that risk today. But, no, it has been a blast hanging out with you guys today. Again, all this information you can find several ways. You can go on our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, our 2X accounts.

[01:46:31] You can also find us on, if you missed today's show and you're just now tuning in with us, you can go listen back. Play it back, y'all. Play it back. And play it as many times as you need to. Also, you can also listen to it on Amazon, Apple, and Spotify, and Audible right after we get done with the show today. So, again, it has been a blast. Thanks to Joe. Thanks to John. Thanks to Walker for doing the weather. We had so much fun today.

[01:47:01] It's always a fun time. For a 40-degree day here in Warren County. It's not sunny outside, but it's sunny in here. That's right. That's what I always say. You create your own narrative today. Listen, while all this has been going on, they have taken down the side across the street. Oh, my God. We didn't recognize it. So, yes. Look how efficient they are. Man, they're always moving. That's why Joe had to leave, I bet. But with that, take care. God bless.

[01:47:31] Enjoy the rest of your day as we will. And remember, Warren County, keep it fast.
