Warren First 931: Your local hub for all things community!
[00:00:53] Pioneer Playbook. I'm your host Madeline Stubblefield. As always, we are here at Collins River Barbecue. Come on out, grab you about to eat. Come watch the show. But we have a whole lineup ready for you guys. We're going to talk to head coach Fish. We're going to see some of the players. We're going to see the basketball team. We are going to see some wrestlers, but we're also going to see more Warren County Athletics coming your way, such as the cheer team, such as the Centertown Elementary Boys basketball team. Stay tuned. We have a lot coming your way. But right
[00:01:21] now, I'm going to do the giveaway. We're going to thank you to Security Federal and thank you to the Hitch for helping us put this basket together. We love you guys. Thank you. So, without further ado, da-da-da-da-da. And our winner is Monica Knight. If you're watching, lovely goodies. So, hopefully you're watching, but we will also post. And if you know Monica
[00:01:51] Knight, hit her up. Contact her. But now we're going to get our basketball team on. Come on, boys. Let's go. Yeah. Let's go. We're just going to have to squeeze in. Squeeze in. Hard to squeeze in a 6-7 guy anywhere. Yeah. Hey, y'all are family though. Yeah, we are. No one stinks. We literally are. Yeah. Everyone
[00:02:18] showered from last night. No more sweat. I don't want to smell y'all. I've seen. Stand up and around. Yeah, we can get some guys like right here. Yeah, let Aaron sit in. Wait. There's another chair on this side too. Y'all can sit right here. Move this way. This way. Yeah. Y'all are just going to be real close. Real close. We're pretty close anyway. One can even step right here. Skinniest guy. Yeah. And then coach right here. Oh, look. They're all working together. Yeah. That's what good teams do.
[00:02:47] Yes. Might not be late through. Or might not be. Three man leave. But we'll get it. Y'all can scoot over closer than that. She doesn't look like. Yeah. Stop passing. All right. All right. How are we looking? We're looking good in Warren County? Yeah. I mean, they already look good. I mean, what winning? 17 game winning streak? 13. 13. Okay. Hey, we're on to 17 though. Yeah. Yeah. We're trying to get there. Trying to get there. Stacking blocks every day. You know. Yeah. Trying to stack blocks every day.
[00:03:17] So, I just want to talk about what y'all got coming up. I'm going to talk about. Did y'all set goals at the beginning of the year? Did y'all have like a whiteboard? Oh, yeah. Yeah. We set a lot of goals. Yeah. Team goals. You know, the guys, their goals are very high. You know, state championship is what we've said. That's their hierarchy. You know, 25 plus wins. Guys want to go undefeated in the district. Regular season district championship. Want to win a tournament championship, regional championships. I mean,
[00:03:47] that was one biggest thing, you know, when I came here is that we played for championships. Yeah. So, but we had to stack blocks daily to make that a reality. Yeah. Right. And the guys have really taken on that persona. But, you know, we're a player led team at this point. Yeah. You know, I don't have to reinforce those goals because they reinforce it themselves, you know, by their daily standards that they set in practice and, you know, academically
[00:04:14] throughout the whole thing. Real proud of the guys and what they've done up to this point. Yeah. We're just, you know, our motto is be one and O every day, right? Be one and O every day and don't look too far down the road because you'll miss the present. You know, we got to be focused on the present. So. And now I want y'all to walk me through and y'all can chime in and walk me from tryouts to conditioning this summer and to up until now. What was the training like to get to the success they've had so far? Was it rough? Was it tough?
[00:04:44] It's definitely not easy. Yeah, that's right. So, I mean, during the summer time, I mean, it's, it's, it's not too terrible. I mean, we go through, you know, I got two weeks of practice and we play for a week and then we're done. He likes to give us off post-summer. And then after that, what's the bullies start back? Labor Day. We start back Labor Day. It's called Commitment Month, but it's, it's two months. It's 30 days. It's two months. You don't even touch basketball really. Just run and lift every day. So that's what, that's
[00:05:14] what helps us out so much because I know that hardly anybody's doing that or we're doing every day. And even now we still continue to lift as much as we can. How is it mentally on you guys? And how do you think Coach Fish helps y'all mentally prepare and get ready? Because it's also mentally challenging too. I mean, it just puts us through the ringer in practice and the games just become easy because we go hard and practice every day and game day. It's time to have fun.
[00:05:41] Yeah. Now we're going to talk about some road games. Those are always tough. Tell me how you're going to do, what you're going to do to prepare for these road games. We're not going to change anything that we've been doing. You know, we'll be at Shelbyville on Tuesday and then at coffee for the border battle. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Every game's big for us. You know, we, we're going to prepare the same if we're playing, you know, Spring Hill or Shelbyville. You know, Coach Warren does our scout.
[00:06:12] We prepare practice towards the scout, but also keeping some things that we like to do and the guys like to do too. You know, we're not going to prepare anything different than what we've been doing so far because what we've been doing is kind of working. So we just, I'm to the point, I'm very superstitious. I'm wearing the same socks. I wear the same stuff on the road, wear the same stuff at home. Eat the same meals.
[00:06:38] Eat the same meals. Payday and Amelio on the way to the gym. I'm very, very eccentric like that, I guess. That's what I say. What about the team? Are you all going to suck out? No? I am. I got to get a nap. Okay. That's what I was going to ask you all. Like, what do y'all do physically to prepare for road games? Those are a little bit challenging. You have to go to school all day. You have to do your homework. How do you guys prepare for that too? Or y'all just, y'all are just boys. I forget.
[00:07:08] Y'all aren't like girls. Y'all just play. Y'all just get out there. But I know, how do you prevent yourself from cramps and all that? A lot of water. I think I got a jug that I bring. I don't know. There's anybody else. I got the jug. You got to take care of yourself guys. And then, I don't know, but I'll, I'll bring on the trainer. Got the boots, gravity boots or whatever. Yeah. Those are nice. Thanks, help out. Yeah. Okay. Now we want to talk about the border battle.
[00:07:33] Tell me about Pauly County. All the words about Pauly County. Come on. I don't really like them. To be quite honest. You know, it's always, if you always go over there, it's going to be a lot better game than it is at our place. Over there, you know, they play a lot better. Usually, the officials are old. I don't see everything, but it'll be a better game over there. Okay. So, Coach King mentioned stealing some girlfriends. Have y'all done that?
[00:08:03] We just got to go back to stealing the girlfriends, guys. I saw an Aaron. That's a good one. I posted a picture. Okay. Well, I got, I got, I got to go from there, but she ain't had no boyfriend since eighth grade. Like, come on. That didn't count. Aaron. No, it's old. Come on. Is she going to be there? Yeah, she plays. She plays for that. Okay. Okay. I told you, we got some characters, you know.
[00:08:31] Definitely. I'd love to see that. What you see right now is really how it is. Every day in the locker room. Yeah. I think that's what, you know, our brotherhood's about, is being brothers and being able to be relaxed around each other. Yeah. You know, they have great camaraderie. Yeah. You know, we, we try to be the best we can, you know, it's a team and the people, but the relationships these guys are making, you know, that's what they're, that's what they're
[00:08:58] going to remember. You know, everybody, nobody remembers, you know, 10, 20 years down the road, how many points you scored, how many games you want. What you do is you remember the guys that you went to battle with and yeah, you can lean on and these guys will keep up with each other, you know, for their entire lives. Hopefully that's, that's kind of what we're building towards. You know, we had a coming home game yesterday. Yeah. I had reached out to guys that had played for me while I've been here, you know, the Sawyer Seymours,
[00:09:26] Nate Elrods, Braylon Grayson, see if they were coming back, you know, and most of them are tied up in their college right now. Alex Van Buren getting his first hit yesterday, you know, for Jackson State and we're real proud of Alex and, you know, continuing to play. And, you know, and Braylon Grayson, who's at Carson Newman playing and all of them are just happy to, to hear from us. I'll try to stay in touch with those, but you know, we want to, we want to
[00:09:55] have a connection, you know, I mean, that's what life's about. It's so, you know, connecting with people and, you know, servicing, you know, people and service in your community. And I think that's very important in what we're trying to do. I think the, the more cohesiveness and that we can get with among our group, I think that it lifts everybody up. You know, we have a, we kind of have a motto that I talk about all the time. Few burdens are heavy whenever we lift.
[00:10:20] And I think when everybody does look hard, I think that we can, you know, rouse higher than we can normally. And that is shown on the court. Like normally in the past years, you've only had one to two guys scoring all of them, even off the bench, multiple people are getting close to double digits, if not double digits. Tell me about that. Is that a mindset you set? Is that just these guys, like just being friends and just wanting to see the success of each other?
[00:10:46] Tell me about that. Well, you know, we all train hard. You know, we have a lot of good players and, you know, things that we're doing as product of a couple years of work, you know, now you're seeing the results. And I don't think that we care who scores the ball. I think we just want to be as efficient as possible. That's what we talked about and moving the ball. And if you're the person that moves the ball, the ball's going to come back to you, you know. And I think when we get to the
[00:11:11] point where we genuinely do not care anything but the result, you know, the scoreboard, I think that's when we can be as good as we can possibly be. And I think these guys are doing that right now. I mean, if you watched the game last night, you know, we had 25 baskets or 27 baskets and we had 17 assists on those 27 baskets. So the guys are definitely sharing the ball. But, you know, they know that they're coming out if they don't share the
[00:11:37] ball too. So, you know, last night I subbed a couple of guys out and that was because they didn't like the extra pass. It wasn't anything other than that. And, you know, the standards that we said, it doesn't, it doesn't matter what standards you said if you don't hold everyone account to those standards. And then those standards trickle down to the guys and then the guys hold each other account. When the guys are holding each other account, well, you know, you got something good for them.
[00:12:05] We have about five games to the district tournament, correct? Tell me what you're most excited for within these five games leading up to the district tournament. Well, I mean, you know, we have opportunity on Tuesday to clinch a regular season district championship at Sheblinville. That's exciting because that's one of our goals on our list. You know, the Coffee County game, which is always a fun game. Our guys look forward to it. You know, we know they're a good team and we're a good team.
[00:12:32] And, you know, the communities, you know, we want to be adversaries on the court, but not be adversaries in the community, right? You know, we're trying to, we all live in the same area. We really know each other and, you know, we respect them and they respect us. That's the reason why it's such a heated rivalry, right? Because everybody wants to win. And then you flip over to the next week and then we'll go to Segal and play them on their senior day.
[00:12:58] Which is a game that we let slip away, you know, here at home, which we want to have back. And I think our guys are looking forward to that. But the thing about the last week is it is a great week because, you know, you have two two games with Segal and Cannon, both teams that beat you first time in the season. And then you have senior day with Lincoln County. So that's a that's a big week for us that I think our guys are looking forward to. So the next two, three, four weeks, our guys, they should, if they're not ready to play or they're not up ready and, you know,
[00:13:28] excited, then we're going to have to check their pulse, maybe get the AED out, you know, some things like that. Revival back to life. Yeah, because I mean, you know, this is the time of year where you play all year forward. I mean, we start practicing in June and, you know, we go Monday through Thursday, you know, in the preseason. And, you know, we're pretty much six days a week, you know, throughout the year. We come in on Sundays and do, you know, some shootings and stuff. And these, you know, it's kind of getting down to the nitty gritty time now. And, you know, I'm really looking forward
[00:13:58] to see how our guys finish the year. I think that we have great potential to do great things. You got to have a little luck and you got to play well. Going off with the luck, I feel like the fans, the student section helps you guys. What do you want to say about the student section, the fans all out to the community? What do you want them to do? What do you want them to do? Tree City Mafia, we love you. We absolutely love you. You know, we feed off their energy. Reno throws down a dunk and, you know,
[00:14:28] we think that we're going to have to give some people CPR, you know, because it takes a breath away. And I just, you know, our students and our fan base has been real good this year. I love it for our guys, you know, because everybody wants somebody cheering for, you know. And, you know, I think that, you know, we could, we do a great job at football and we do a great job at basketball. But, you know, we need to, we need to take advantage of our other sports.
[00:14:55] So, you know, I know that, you know, personally for my team, we come out to the volleyball games. We've been to a couple other games, you know, around campus and we try to come out rip and roar. And, you know, I was talking to Coach Harris the other day is that for the, the regional meet for the wrestlers, you know, all of our teams coming out to watch them because I watched a video with Baylor and Macaulay or something like that. And their gym was packed and they had a wrestling meet. And, you know, I want our guys in our wrestling team to be able to,
[00:15:25] to feel that too, you know, because I've been in sports where, you know, coach sports where, you know, a lot of fans showed up and it just happened to be at the time frame that it was, right. And we want to make sure that we support ours, our other fellow student athletes like they can support us. And I think that's very important in the team chemistry within our team and then,
[00:15:52] and then, and then athletic teams. And then, you know, even in our student body, you know, athletics is the front door to the school. You know, I don't mean, I don't mean to, you know, put anything on the back burner, but I'm just telling you athletics is the front porch and the front door to the school. You know, that's how you can really see what we're pouring into these kids because they get the most pub. And, you know, we just want to make sure that we're doing everything that we can do to possibly make, you know, our families proud,
[00:16:20] our teams proud, our community proud, our school proud, regardless of wins and losses, you know, that, you know, if you're doing those things, then, then you're going to be successful. And I think you guys are doing just that. Now last thing I want to talk about the border battle. Of course, I want to talk about what it means to support minimal special games to you guys. And I want to give you all like, what's your guess? How many points are going to force a week and let the community know to keep raising up those dollars to see maybe that'll,
[00:16:47] someone will throw out a check with those dollars. Yeah. I don't know. Special games is, uh, is something that holds dear to our heart because, uh, you know, two of our biggest team members are involved in those things. We've got big Evan Carey and Jake Fan, you know, and, and they're there with us every day. Um, you know, it's good to have them around, um, for our guys, uh, you know, humility is huge, you know, when we talk about don't taking things for granted,
[00:17:13] um, you know, sometimes. And, you know, Evan and Jake, they constantly remind us that, that we can be better people, better humans, you know, and, uh, also special games is, uh, you know, kind of dear to my heart too. You know, my sister, she has two children, they're both autistic. And, uh, it's something that we really, you know, I want to make sure that all those people feel included. Um, you know, and I want to make sure that we're here for them just like they're there for
[00:17:39] us, just like we had the area nine basketball game yesterday. Uh, you know, they packed out the gym with our student body and, um, cheered for every person that made a basket, every person that made a pass. I'm telling you, Warren County, we are raising some good kids. Uh, we are raising some good kids and we got to continue to do that. They're the next generation. Uh, we gotta, we gotta raise empathetic kids. We gotta raise kids that care about more than themselves. Uh, we gotta, you know,
[00:18:06] that's the way that our community is going to be made better. And that's the way that our school is going to be made better. And to be honest with you, I'm glad that I represent a program where makes that at point of emphasis. So we have a score prediction, so we can get that money raised. I don't know, man. You know, we, we're always trying to be nice, but I mean, it's a race to 60 for us. That's one of those things where we feel like if we're the first team to 60,
[00:18:34] that we got a good chance to win, um, you know, that's what we're trying to get to every single night. Some nights we do, some nights we don't, but, um, you know, the race to 60 is worth it for us. So let's say $5 every point. How much money would that be? That's a lot. Let's do that. Make that bet right now. Math on that. See? It's just a genius back there. He's a big 33 ACT guy and he's real smart.
[00:19:02] Yeah. So if we have any, uh, we have anything with this knowledge that we need to know, that's academic knowledge, we ask him any useless knowledge. We ask these guys. Okay. We got, we got farming knowledge. We got, we got our, uh, religion based knowledge over here. Academic knowledge. And useless knowledge. So we just, we just, uh, you know, just full of it all. Right.
[00:19:30] And, uh, that's what makes it, what makes it fun. You know, it's, uh, you know, every, every puzzle piece is different, you know? Um, you know, that's what I tell the guys at the beginning of the year. You guys are like a puzzle. Uh, every piece is different. Some middle pieces, some square pieces, some corner pieces. Uh, it's us. It's the job as the coach. Let's put those pieces together. Yeah. You know, and it's your job to just be that piece. Yeah. Do y'all have anything to add guys? I mean, y'all are the ones performing it out on the court. Anything?
[00:19:59] Anything you want to say? Shout out. Shout out. Woo. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, thank you guys for coming. It's been great. Best of luck. I think we need to break it down. What do y'all say on three? What do y'all say? Go ahead. See, Billy. Brotherhood on me, brotherhood on three. One, two, three. Brotherhood. Thank you.

[00:22:51] Welcome back to Pioneer Playbook guys. It was great. The basketball team was great. Once again, we need your support guys. Come on out to the way games. Come on out and support them. It was great to hear from them. But now we have some district champs. We have the district champions as they're preparing for regionals. Guys, introduce yourself. I'm Ben Lutz. I'm Raul Maness. Is that a kill?
[00:23:18] Yes, I got to see them earlier this week. I got to come to their practice and they're just amazing guys. But now I just want to talk about your journey, how you got there. Did y'all set individual goals or did y'all set team goals? Kind of tell me about that process at the beginning of the year till now. Just win. Just win. Okay, so that's the only one who just wins. Yeah. And y'all have been achieving them. Tell me about state. Tell me how some of you are, you're the top wrestler in the state.
[00:23:45] Like, just tell me about that. Oh, no, I'm pretty sure. Some of you. Come on, Sarah. I mean, what's the question? Tell me how you're the top wrestler in the state. Well, I'm fifth right now, but I feel like I could probably chip your way up. Yeah. Third, second, then rankings don't really matter. So, okay. Yeah. Tell me about that mindset. You said rankings don't matter. So what kind of mindset do you have
[00:24:11] going into a match and going into practices? I mean, going into a match, you're wrestling a guy ranked. It doesn't matter. I've beaten people ranked nationally, stuff like that. I mean, it's all just a number online. It doesn't really matter. Anything can happen in that match. Going into practice, keeping that person that you want to be in the back of your head. And I mean, just just thinking about them all the time and just, you know, chipping away at it.
[00:24:41] What about you guys? What's your mindset going into a match, going into practice? Yes. Just like knowing you can win and that. Don't you think that I'm going to lose this or that's going to be rough. You just got to think you're going to win. You will win. You can like, you can like think things into existence almost. It's weird. What about your role? I'll pick up what he said. It's you just got to know you're going to win. You can't think you're going to lose. If you think you're going to lose, you're going to lose. Yeah. But as long as you think you're going to win and
[00:25:11] do what it takes to win, you'll win. What do you guys do together as a team? Or what does coach Harris do to help y'all think and have that mindset? Push us to practice. Yeah. Makes us, it's all, everything we do in practice is a mindset. It pushes to our limits. Yeah. To the dark place. Dark place. What about you guys? What do you think coach Harris does? Or what do you guys do to hold each other accountable? I mean, he just like shows you how far you can,
[00:25:41] your like body can go almost what we do in practice. Like how much more you think you can do, how much you actually can do. What about you there? At the end of practice, he always tells us a motivational speech there. Okay. Do you enjoy that? Yeah. Sometimes because I usually just want to go home. He's probably going to see that and he's not going to be in the pocket, but you know, but y'all enjoy it. No, yeah.
[00:26:09] I enjoy it. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And then, so just tell me about what goals do you have going forward with the regions for yourself? I know your goals are out of the way, but individually, what do you have? Be a state champion. Be the top. Be the top there. What are we doing to prepare for that in a week? Practice. Practice. Practice. Sorry. Any running, any weightlifting? Oh, yes. Yeah.
[00:26:33] Three leg workouts in a row each day. Each day. So do y'all trade individually by your crowds or do y'all just do team stuff? A little bit. We do it, but it's mostly team. And then what has been a highlight of each of y'all's careers so far? Being around my teammates, wrestling with them. It was Eric's final year being able to wrestle with him. Yeah. Yeah. Walk me through that. Walk me through freshman, you to now.
[00:27:03] Uh, freshman year started out. I was like, uh, 160. I won 13 matches, lost 13 matches. I made it to state somehow. I don't really know how I did it. Yeah. Um, I wasn't very good. And then it was, it was a slow start. I slowly got started getting better, slowly better. Uh, sophomore year,
[00:27:27] I came back, went back to state. I won a match and then I lost again. So I was kicked out again. And junior year, I got some really good traction and I placed fifth last year. And I mean, senior year, I've just been rolling, doing what I can to stay alive at practice. How does it feel to work your
[00:27:51] way up? Um, feels pretty good. Do you owe that to yourself or do you owe that for your teammates for having your back or for coach Harris or is it just a mixture of things? It's a mixture of things. It's a lot of the coaches. Of course, coach Harris came in a little late. I think he came in my junior year, I believe. Um, but a lot of it is teammates. I've had some really, really good teammates. Um,
[00:28:21] started my junior, well, at the end of my junior year, I was wrestling PJ Truix, great guy, great wrestler. And, um, finishing that off. I was like, I have no clue who I'm going to wrestle because I was like 175 coming out of it. And there was no 175s on our team. And, uh, gained 40 pounds and now I'm wrestling Xavier Simmons. So, you know, I was, I was nervous of
[00:28:49] who I was going to practice with and, uh, I got lucky and I got a good partner. Yeah. Now with you guys, y'all are younger classmen. How'd y'all look up to him? Tell me kind of the paved the way. How did he pave the way for you guys? Um, you can be sentimental. This is the brotherhood. This is a family. I saw it in practice. Yeah. I mean, yeah, he's definitely paved the way. He's so good.
[00:29:13] Yeah. It's possible. It is possible because seeing the way he wrestled back then, not how he wrestles now. It's like, if he can do it, why can't I? Yeah. Yeah. And then walk me through the mindset. So y'all practice with each other and y'all might be different weight classes. When you're going up, maybe a teammate that might be smaller than you or a teammate that might be bigger than you in weight class, walk me through how, what's your thought process for your teammate, but for yourself
[00:29:42] too. You gotta cheer them on as they wrestle. Like you gotta, you gotta cheer them on as, as if you're wrestling. Like you gotta think you're in that match with them. Yeah. Do you think you make each other better by doing that? Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A lot better. It's like, it's different if you don't do it. Yeah. Now walk me through this family. Tell me just all about your teammates. Tell me how you guys are a family.
[00:30:09] We're really well connected. We talk, we talk every day. We, we go through hard things every day. Uh, we push each other. We fight like brothers and practice to push each other. Um, stuff like that. Anything else y'all want to add? I know we're going to talk about a little bit about what's coming up next, but anything you want to add? What do you want to tell Warren County? What do you want to tell the fan base? Uh, we love them. We love y'all.
[00:30:36] Come out, support them. Yeah. They work hard. District champs. We have regions coming up on Saturday. We'll be there to support you guys. Um, tell me what's coming next. When, who are y'all competing against? What are y'all looking most for to Saturday? Um, Saturday, got our regions. So we've got Stewart's Creek, Tallahoma. Well, not Tallahoma. I'm sorry. They're not an Oasis, Tallahoma. We got
[00:31:01] Blackman, Oakland. We got some really big names. Um, Siegel. Siegel. Yeah. We got some pretty big names. So we're looking forward to it. Should be a packed house. So, yeah. And are y'all excited to rest individually? Yeah. Yeah. What, what is going through your mind as you're getting ready for that? Just winning or what? Place first. That's right. Okay. I don't usually think much when I wrestle. I just kind of go. You just let your emotions go? Yeah. Okay. What about
[00:31:29] you roll? Or are you just going to say you go into a dark place? Dark place. Yeah. That's what I thought. Yep. All right. You guys, come on out. Support this wrestling team on Saturday. They're great. They're doing amazing things. I think we should break it down. Ready? If y'all say Pioneers on three or what do y'all say? All right. Pioneers on three. One, two, three. Thank you guys for coming on. Stay tuned. We're here at Pioneer Playbook with Collins River Barbecue. We got more
[00:31:58] coming your way. We're going to watch the wrestling video that I put together for these guys and this family. Stay tuned and watch this video. Ready for what's coming up for them at the region. We're seeing a lot about our team. You know, we want to make it tough because we want to see, you know, when it gets tough, like here at the region and state and sections that are coming up, you know, they got to be battle tested and know that they can pull through it when they get to the
[00:32:24] third period of a match and things like that to come out on coach Josh Harris explains what Warren County can expect to see hitting the mats next week. We're looking forward to what we're going to do individually and you know, as far as the individual tournament goes, we can still win the region. You know, the traditional tournament, they keep up a team score throughout the tournament on how people place and progress throughout the tournament so we can still be reaching champions after this
[00:32:53] tournament's over and that's what our goal. County wrestlers understand what it takes to win and be prepared. Senior wrestlers, Zarek Kill and Allison Swetman give their thoughts about what is coming next. Um, just last stretch of the, you know, season getting ready to take some names. It's hard and we're being pushed for a very good reason. Junior Raul Maness also gives his feelings about next week.
[00:33:21] I'm feeling pretty good. We're getting good work, good work and practice every day. We're going at it every practice. I'm excited to see what we're going to bring. Coach Harris explains what this team has been doing all year long and what we can expect to see them do at regionals. We're tough, you know, uh, they keep on fighting. Um, they aren't afraid of putting in hard work and
[00:33:49] and that's just a cool thing that I've seen out of our team is they're tough. Uh, they get hurt, but they get back up and get in. Uh, that are guys that have been, um, starting for us all year long. You know, they've been injured throughout the year, but they wrap it up and go. They, uh, they, they're just really resilient and I'm proud of them for that. There is more to this team than just winning their hard work and toughness. They are a true family. We're just growing together. Uh, you know,
[00:34:19] we make it tough on them. Uh, so they, they know they can lean on each other to, to help each other out when times are getting tough and you know, uh, you know, um, as far as family goes, you know, we pray every day with them and, uh, wrestlers freshman Myra Reagan and Raul Maness talks about the impact of being on. It really is like family. Whenever I think of it, I see like so many faces that I spend hours and hours with every single day and it's just nice knowing that
[00:34:49] somebody has. I feel like we're, we're really well connected like a big family. Uh, yeah, we're really connected. You are a family and you know, with, uh, with wrestlers, they, they get mad at each other sometimes just like brothers do or sisters. They, they get to fight in a little bit. Uh, but it's all under good terms, you know, when it's all said and done, but we are family and it's fun coming to practice every day and, uh, it's fun watching these young
[00:35:14] men and young women work hard to, to try to get better and achieve the goals. Harris explains what we can see next from this hardworking district champions family. Most in the region tournament, uh, February 8th. Um, and that'll be all day long. Um, wrestling will start at nine o'clock. The placement rounds will start around three 30. That means, uh, first in the guys that are wrestling the finals, the people that wrestled for third or fourth to advance to the sectional.
[00:35:44] Uh, that's about the time that they're going to be wrestling. But, uh, you know, we're, we're expecting a lot of people to, uh, to place in the top four and go to the sectional. Uh, we expect a lot of people to do well this regional tournament. Uh, then after that, we go to the sectional tournament, which is the toughest section in the state. Uh, it's a very brutal re section that we get to graduate to. Uh, but we've wrestled those guys. We've been to the Bradley tournament. We've wrestled Cleveland, uh, in the section the past few years and then
[00:36:11] the state. So, uh, you know, we know they're tough and, and you know, we got to prepare for that and, and hopefully it advances as many as we can to the state tournament the week after. You know, last year we took five, uh, boys and two girls. Uh, so I expect to have at least five or more and same with the girls. I think, you know, we should have two to three girls, uh, go to the state tournament and, uh, you know, that's what we're looking forward to. And, uh, you know, we're trying to get our minds right to make that happen for these young men and women.
