And here we go, Ms. Dana. So, I have Ms. Dana. We put out a feeler for crafters, hobbyists, local mom and pop business stores, you know, just to give them a chance to shine and show their stuff.

[00:02:49] And I think this is a great first interview to start this showcase of what is going on in Warren, the people of Warren County. And Ms. Dana has been living here in Warren County for over 20, 30 good years now, as she was telling me off air. And tell everybody what you do. Well, you were telling me you used to take care of people. Let's talk about that. I've been an RN for 50 years. For 50 years. Yeah.

[00:03:18] And do you tell, you know, come into Warren County and live in here, you know, do you see the care that people, you know, in this community? Oh. Well, I don't do anything actively. I have a couple of people I follow. And the last 12 years, before I retired, I spent out on the Navajo Reservation. Okay. And in order to do that, I had to keep a house in Tennessee in order to keep my license so I could use it anywhere in the country. Yeah. But, you know, there's a senior center.

[00:03:47] They've opened up the new health care. They did. In the mall. It looks really nice. Yeah. I've been in it. There's things going on in town, you know. I just hope all the physicians stay. Yes. That's the goal, including the VA clinic. Yes. We all need to stay. Yes. Absolutely. But talk about when you started getting into crafts. Well, that must have been at least 45 years ago. Okay. When my, I guess, 50 years ago, I guess, too.

[00:04:16] When my children were small. Yeah. I would set up a place in the family room. And when I put the potatoes on to boil and run it, and I'd hook for 20 minutes. Yeah. Then I'd run back to the potatoes. So every day I would spend like 20 minutes cooking on the rug. Just horning on your craft. And then eventually the rug got finished. Yeah. So then I could do more and more. And when I retired, now that's, I do that. I knit. I do needle felting.

[00:04:43] I also do some community things with FCE, which is family. Love that organization. Yeah. Community education out of UT Extension. Yeah. And they have, once a year, they have a craft competition. Yeah. All different kinds of entries. So I usually do maybe four or five entries just for fun. And speaking of your entries and your craft, what is it that you exactly do? Well, this year, I usually do three rugs. Okay.

[00:05:12] So you do rugs. You make rugs. I do wool rugs. One for Christmas. One for non-Christmas holiday. And then another one, rug making. Yeah. And then I also do a paper craft. Okay. And sometimes I do something with sewing or whatever. Yeah. It's really kind of a fun thing because there's like 50 different types of things and a lot of women compete. Yeah. And then if you win first or second prize, and they send it to Central Tennessee.

[00:05:39] And if you win in Central, then they do, you know, State of Tennessee. So it's State, the Nationals? Mm-hmm. I love that. Which is kind of fun. I mean, it's not huge monetary, but it's just, it's very good for Warren County. Yes. I love that. So who taught you how to do, was this something you self-taught yourself? I'm afraid so. Oh, wow. That's impressive. Well, I saw a rug in a store, I think somewhere in Connecticut. And I looked at it and how I really liked that.

[00:06:08] And then I had to try to figure out how to do it. Well, they were using yarn that they used to do in the 20s and 30s. And I wanted something a little different. When I was younger and when my kids were, you know, I could leave them, I would go up to Ontario. I'd go to Vermont. Yeah. And I would take like a week just to go and hook with other people. But I haven't done that for a long time. There are a couple of groups around. There's one in Mont Eagle. There's another one in Franklin. They're just, you know, it's an hour and a half drive.

[00:06:38] And I think, eh, it's an hour and a half there, hour and a half back. It's three hours. Not terrible. I can go sit and hook. Yeah. So, yeah. So, I do it mostly for me. I used to do commission work. And people would send me a photograph of their home. Yeah. And I'd hook a rug. It was their home. I'm not quite sure why they wanted to walk all over their home. But anyway, I did that. Because everybody else does. So, I mean, I hate. Anyway, I stopped that several years ago. And I just do things for myself.

[00:07:08] Okay. So, let's show some of your work. So, this is the one you just finished, right? Yeah. Yeah. And I'm going to hold this up while you explain it, okay? Yeah. So, like you were talking about. Now, this is a wool rug. It's on a linen background. Yeah. And every one of these has to be hooked into the background. So, I start off with a picture. Yeah. And then I look and see what wool I have. Yeah. Then I dye wool to the colors I want.

[00:07:35] And then I cut it up into quarter inch pieces. Yeah. And then start hooking it back in. This is lovely. And it feels so soft. And the back looks almost like the front. Yeah. I mean, look at that. So funny, you know, that they look alike. It's supposed to though, right? Yeah. Oh, yeah. And some of them I've had like for 40 years. Yeah. And the only thing I do is in the wintertime if we have a snow. Yeah. I take them outside. I put them face down in the snow. I drag them through the snow. Flip them over.

[00:08:05] Drag them through the snow. There's some kind of chemical reaction between snow and wool. Really? Yeah. And what does it do? It just takes the dirt, you know, if there's any. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, we talked about these. So, and I know you said you don't commission anymore. But do you sell the ones you... Once in a while. Once in a while. Okay. Yeah. That's not my prime, you know, thing that I want to do. Right. So, I just do them. And then do you want to grab your Halloween one? Sure. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:08:34] And then you can grab the paper hats as well if you want to. Oh, okay. So, this is her Halloween one that she's made. I mean, guys, this is handmade. And they get real soft after a while too. Yeah. Yeah. You know, this one is from... I love this. In the 1920s and 30s, there were a group of people and they collected all these sayings and put them in rugs. Yeah.

[00:09:02] And the biggest thing, they were all mother-in-law. Or most of them were about mothers-in-law. And they were not nice. Not nice. No. Yeah. We called them monster-in-laws, Dana. Well, they complained about the mother-in-law all the time. But I liked this one. I thought this was kind of fun. Yeah. It says, don't listen to the mermaid. What does it say? Don't listen to the mermaid mad. She might look good, but she is bad. Yeah.

[00:09:28] And then down at the bottom, it says, she'll play upon her harp. But leave your ship. And I can't even read what the last one is. It's been so long since I did that one. She will leave your ship. A wreck. A wreck. Yeah. They're not open quite yet. Oh, you're with me. You're with me. Take a seat. Anyway. Flashback. But those are fun to do.

[00:09:56] But as I said, most of them are about mothers-in-law. And I mean, how long does it take to make something like this? Well, I've had to cut back because all those years of nursing, they take a toll on your back. Okay. So I still hook every day, a couple of hours, you know. But not more than that. Yeah. But normally, yeah, get your other ones. We want to showcase the other ones. This one is the only wall hanging I've done. Yeah.

[00:10:24] And mostly, they're meant to be on the floor. Yeah. But still, have you ever made like a nativity scene one? Yes. In fact, my daughter-in-law has that for her Christmas tree. Now, since you make these, I guess you make them as gifts to your family members. Sometimes, yes. Uh-huh. Yeah. I love that. Now, why did you paint, or why did you, I say paint because I feel like it's artwork. Why did you decide on this guy? Because he's so much white.

[00:10:55] Okay. And it's not that white takes dirt, but it's just a lot of white if you've got it on the floor. Yeah. So I put it on the wall. And it actually has a board across. It says, have you any wool? Oh. So. I love that. I had somebody in town. And this would be cute, like hanging up in the nursery too, you know.

[00:11:41] Yeah. And then I'm going to showcase the, she's even got more on the floor. So each year you're telling me off air that FC has the cultural arts. Which has the cultural arts. And this, do you do paper artwork? Not normally. No. It was just, I just thought it would be fun for 250th. Yes. Yes. I think it's adorable.

[00:12:10] And then for Christmas, what I'll do, well, I won't lift this one off because it's got the tag. Yeah. But for Christmas, I'll put my granddaughter's presents inside a hat. Yeah. And then see, and then you can open up the hat and then look. And by the way, yes, she even did this too. Look at, look at. Little pin cushion for her hands. Yeah. Last year for Christmas, I did houses.

[00:12:36] So you can lift the roof off and I put gift cards and things inside the houses. And then we can walk. That's why I put the mics on us, Dana. So we can walk and go. So this is going to be. These are my sheep rugs. Yeah. Her sheep rugs. She's into sheep. She's not sheepish. Okay. I'm going to turn this around real quick. So. This one was summer. Okay. Or 4th of July. That was my non-Christmas holiday for this year. Yeah.

[00:13:06] That one was winter. Okay. And then this one. This one looked like. I'm going to scoot it down so y'all can see a little bit better. This one is like better than a runner rug I've ever seen. Yeah. Look at that, guys. And you said this one took you a year. Yeah. Pretty well. On and off. Yeah. This one right here, guys. Yeah. Because, see, you have to dye the wool the color you want. Or you have to find wool in your stash. Yeah.

[00:13:34] The color you want in order to have, you know. So when you say dye the wool, does the. Because, again, I always ask stupid questions because there's no such thing as one to me. But when you get the wool, it's one color. It's always the white, right? No. No, no. No. Okay. It might be a plaid and it might be a loud plaid. Okay. Say, oh, yellow and black. Yeah. So I'll probably put an over dye on it. Yeah.

[00:14:03] And bring it so that it's not so loud. Gotcha. I love that. I love that. So, again, if anybody wants to see these, do you have them? Are you going to have them displayed? Do you display them at the fair? No. I never do. Oh, my gosh. Well, I don't walk very far. So I've always been, you know, kind of hesitant to go to the fair because I don't know how far I have to walk. Girl, I will take you to the fair. I've never been.

[00:14:34] Really? No. You should go with me. But this one, this one is, was the non-holiday. This one right here? Yeah, that one. I can tell. This could be even like celebrating the 250th with the banners you got going on too. Yeah. And then this one also, this one, first prize in FCE for rugs this year. I love it. And then there's another one I did for Christmas that's in the cards. Okay. I didn't really like it. You're fine. Well, let's sit back down and then let's end our interview.

[00:15:03] Come back around, sit in your chair, my boo friend. Again, guys, this is awesome. If y'all have not checked out, this is handmade. That's the back. Yeah. I know, but they're still beautiful, Dana. They're still beautiful. But guys, again, it amazes me like how many amazing talents that we have here living in one county under our noses. But we don't connect. No. And that's been kind of a problem.

[00:15:32] I would love it if somebody else wanted to do this. Unfortunately, it's gotten more expensive in the last few years. Of course. It really has. So as partner, when you talk about connecting like other knitters. You know, yeah. Okay. You know, any kind of craft would be kind of nice to get together. You know. Yeah. Just see what other people do. Well, hey, Magnus Library, if you haven't started a club for this yet, the Magnus Library is trying to start new things all the time. I absolutely love it.

[00:16:01] And I think this would be a great thing because, you know, they're always looking for things that are quiet, you know, things to do. And this would be a great thing. And then displaying, you know. Well, I call it my coloring book. You need a frame. You need a hook. Yeah. Usually a cutter. And after that, it's your linen. You do your drawing, your patterns. Yes. Off you go. Off you go. So again, kudos to you.

[00:16:26] I know you were saying that after the interview today, you've got FC's got their big meeting today. Is everybody bringing out their foods and stuff? Absolutely. Yes. That's what FCE means. Listen, I'm not joking. If you ever get invited to FCE meetings, do not tell them no. You need to show up and you need to eat their food. The last time or one of the best times I've had is when y'all did the soup.

[00:16:55] And somebody brought bread bowls. And I was like, oh, my God. Well, we meet. Our group meets in the Magnolia Room. That's been since crossing. But as I say, all over Warren County. There's different groups. And they get together for things. But they also have their own meetings. I love that. Yeah. So if you want to be a part of FCE or meet amazing people like Dina, or if you like, you

[00:17:19] know, if you have a craft like Dina has, and you don't want to team up, we're making matchmaking in the wool department. Yeah. If you really want a wooly one a friend. Yeah. I'm trying. Not a huge amount of wool down here. Oh, there we go. No. And that's been part of the problem. You know, most of it I have collected from the North. I got you. You know. You got to do what you got to do. You can buy it online. And I do sometimes. Well, no, it's the same.

[00:17:46] It's just, it's harder to pick from what they show you in the pictures. Yeah. To say, oh yeah, it's not quite the blue I meant. But so then you have to over dye the blue. I got you. [00:23:46] because they are part of meals on wheels and coming up next month literally is spinning uh spinning your now spinning our wheel thank you this microphone thing's got me in a hoo-hoo okay so we're gonna start with tabitha talking about let's just go right into it tell us about the event the event is our big major fundraiser because we've lost some some uh other funding yeah and this is very important

[00:24:14] to us to keep going and it's a an appreciation of our volunteers also is our fundraiser because our we can do this without our volunteers right they are the lifeline of our what we do yeah and speaking of the volunteers guys like tabitha talks about this is not just people that are behind the scenes cooking you have to have people driving these meals correct oh yes they we have 12 routes that go all

[00:24:42] over the county and we have approximately 100 volunteers we have an amazing volunteer force that's amazing and so with this um this is this the second year third year third year third year we're in and what makes is this one so different from the rest you think oh we just keep building we get better and every year we figure out something that oh we could do

[00:25:10] this next year to make it better to make it back yeah i love that i love that yeah i think the year it was we kind of threw it together thinking okay if we can just get a little extra funding because we lost some funding there and then then we saw what was working really well and then you know things that maybe we put a little too much effort into didn't do as well and we've just been building on that and the community has been so fabulous about coming out and helping uh buying tables especially like a lot of businesses buy tables for the volunteers yeah so that the volunteers don't have to pay to come

[00:25:39] and uh they'll also donate things that is are put up for auction so the community's really been helpful in that and just i think last year we sold a banana pudding for a thousand dollars or something crazy like that you know so that must have been like the golden uh gold liquid gold i'm just gonna tell you nancy mayfield's banana pudding is something apparently okay yes and thousand dollars again this year right

[00:26:04] we're hoping yeah so talking about the tables of the event you know you can um you can get a table now right ahead of time so how much are the table how much are the price points and sponsorships and things like that if anybody wants to tag in on this so a seat is a hundred dollars or you can get a table for a thousand correct me if i'm wrong we do have some sponsors that are doing the two thousand dollar tables to help out and a lot like i said a lot of businesses um they may have two or three people

[00:26:32] that they want to bring but they don't really want to fill up an entire table with their business maybe they just don't have that many employees um and so that's a lot of that is going to the volunteers as well so yeah you can get in for pretty reasonable price these days i don't you know hundred dollars for a plate is pretty good for a fundraiser yeah and speaking of what what are we eating

[00:26:51] besides nancy's banana pudding we are having barbecue i know and um she calls them event potatoes they are potatoes with uh they have onions in them they we put all kinds of good stuff in them flavorful potatoes yes it is all stuff that we do from scratch and just like we would do for our clients so we want you guys to to see what our clients get also yeah the experience of it right

[00:27:19] and have y'all ever been able to talk with your clients like the full circle have y'all ever had a full circle with any of them where they get these meals and they just want to talk to you and how appreciative they are every week okay talk about that because i don't think people realize how appreciative some folks are yeah so i am a volunteer so i'm part of the pom-pom committee that we're all

[00:27:44] we're made up of volunteers um and we i'm not on the board i don't work there um but i have been delivering for gosh a very long time probably off and on 40 years but most recently at least 25 years yeah consistently and we have so many amazing people that we deliver to it's just to me it is not i don't think of it as something that i do that i'm really out there helping others i really think

[00:28:12] of it more as i'm doing to help me uh it just gives me such a lift i mean some days i'm like oh i'm so tired i don't want to get up and go out there but then you go and you meet these people and you're talking to them and they're such sweet wonderful people that really don't have many people to talk to you and so we'll we'll have a lady that we deliver to and she's hilarious she's always talking about how good the meals are but she's talking to sharing her cats uh you know want us to say want us to

[00:28:37] pet all the cats but yeah she i think she has every neighborhood cat comes to visit her uh you know you'll go into these houses and some of these people can't get up they can't come to the door they physically can't make it to the door so you're bringing them food you're better than doordash you're you know you're bringing it in and sitting at their table and you're chatting with them and you're getting to know them and so when we do lose a client which obviously i'm delivering to 80 year old 90 year old people i lose a lot of clients over the years um it's a little piece of you

[00:29:06] you know a little piece of your heart there you get attached to them you do i was gonna say we have several that just call and talk to us you know we'll call and say hey i really loved that meal today what did you put in it yeah or you know like our oldest client she's 102 and she is absolutely amazing but i mean sometimes it may not just be the meal they may check their mail for them or take

[00:29:30] out the trash just a little extra yeah because most of our people are 80 and 90 years old yeah so and they don't have faith and that's another thing being not just being older but also not having family members here as well yes and like these volunteers become family yeah i mean i'm having pictures for people i've climbed on ladders because you don't want a 90 year old lady climbing on a ladder i've climbed on a ladder for her to help her hang her christmas decorations you know you're doing things

[00:29:56] like that you get to know these people i always say that this i know we're providing food and we need to fill their bellies and we need to give them nutrition but that's not really what the point of mills on wheels is mills on wheels is there to make sure these people are okay emotionally um physically the whole the big spiritually the whole thing you're you're there to provide that little little bit of

[00:30:19] care and love that so many people take for granted oh yeah 100 and a lit a lit i'm gonna say today aletta robertson says i have some items to donate for the option awesome so i will make sure to get text me your number on messenger alita and i'll give these ladies the number before they leave and again if sydney allen batten's watching make sure you get my message microphone that lady's gonna go

[00:30:48] i don't know where she yeah she's gonna take that down she's gonna be so worried that everybody heard her that's great well i was like can they hear it but anyways get sidetracked i'm so sorry because i'm just worried about my microphone but on a serious note you know if y'all need more vol i mean there's always room for more volunteers right always absolutely well it's just things like uh for example i haven't wasn't here last week because i was my daughter into college um you know i am there

[00:31:17] every friday person for route 12 but if i need to be absent there needs to be somebody and we have volunteers who are literally coming every day just to take the place of somebody who might not be able to be there and obviously if i get sick i'm definitely not going to you know yeah you don't want to get them sick gosh no you know it's it's one thing to go out you know and get your mail or whatever do things around town errands it's another to stand and talk to a 90 year old lady with the cough you know

[00:31:45] i just don't want to get them sick yeah so and we definitely need volunteers all the time that's not so nice and then with tabitha working um in the kitchen area now do people donate like canned items oh yes vegetables fruit vegetables warren county has showed out this year with the vegetables okay we have had

[00:32:06] watermelon we've had uh cucumbers tomatoes squash zucchini and right before i left we had a whole wagon pool of cantaloupe come in it's been amazing wow and so trying trying to get those things worked up and we get it out to them fresh and we have frozen some things that do freeze but most of it has been fresh and we've been getting that out to our clients and they love it they call and let us know that oh i love

[00:32:36] my fresh tomatoes or yeah you know it it's amazing warren county has really showed out i love that if anybody that does grow uh fruits and vegetables and things like that do they just where can they bring it to they can bring it to the to the kitchen the address is 106 east end drive and uh we have wagons and we have carts and stuff that if they just come in and we'll help them unload it i love that i love that

[00:33:03] and then is there any other big upcoming dates happening that you guys would love to talk about well we always we try to do a monthly or every other month kind of fundraiser we've been doing things like we'll go to walmart and if you see us standing out there especially those of us in our little pom-pom shirts um then we're asking for one of two things either you can get cash if you just rather do that that's easy we take paypal then mo whatever so we're in the electronic age now yeah

[00:33:32] or you can go in and this is something i don't know it always feels like a little bit more to me if i take the list and go in there and buy the things and then bring it out i don't know why i just feel it feels different right than handing over cash somehow it's cash is oh i gave you 20 bucks and or i walked in there about 20 worth of groceries yeah so we'll have the little list especially right before christmas time yeah we'll do that a lot of people are out shopping in their grocery shopping christmas is probably the big ones yes and so we'll have the little sheet that we make up of

[00:34:01] all the things we need not just grocery items but also things that you don't think about like socks and toiletries and just you know little things that they would appreciate in life i agree i agree well ladies is there anything i have not asked you yet if can they call if they want more information yes the number is 473 get you girl 3514 look at tabitha doing a great interview today guys phenomenal

[00:35:53] important out look the microphone's here no no you're fine dana i'm just like um yeah the animal thing isn't it's a thing that is a comfort for them um we know that animals can be emotionally supportive obviously that's kind of become a thing lately but to have an animal there um and not you know you're trying to worry about your feeding yourself they obviously yeah so we do have people that donate

[00:36:21] um cat food dog food like i said i have a lady who has probably 12 cats she gives every stray cat and they just come up and she loves on them you know yeah people with dogs so that is actually a really big help yeah okay there you go so you heard it here cat food dog food let's go let's go um no uh let's see kelly you're invited to come to the event we appreciate you oh hey mom or whenever when uh

[00:44:12] never heard of this until uh last night when sydney was telling me about it today is national ice cream pie day yes and what they do is they get a cookie crust and um they put ice cream in it and i know i'm thinking of cohen's ice or cohen's creamery out there i'm wondering if they need to put this

[00:44:35] in there you know make an ice cream pie but i know they're closed for all week so again and then if you missed it news channel five shared this and i think it's just phenomenal uh a six-year-old uh boy from uh here in tennessee he's a golfer and he takes on the world's top young players at an international

[00:44:56] championship a six-year-old kid from tennessee y'all represent represent also uh things going on if you missed last night's full court meeting at the administrative building you can actually see that on our facebook page shout out to uh our boy matt he's our videographer that came out there last night

[00:45:21] and showed up and uh recorded the meeting so you can get all the full details on that and then i have to give shout out or shout outs due this past saturday and i only got pictures for my friends that attended because i was so jam-packed and i hated that i missed it but let me tell you i am so glad that they kept some of the decorations from the bridgington theme here in the tea room so as you can see

[00:45:48] i think it should be shared on you yep it is good deal good deal um so this was zora's bridgington afternoon tea and i'm just going to zoom in the best that i can and show you guys check this out the tables were like green and pink linens they had balloon art decorum look at this tea elegance friendship

[00:46:14] and memories i just think how stinking cute was this again i hated that i had to miss it but yeah but this was so cute i mean how many people did y'all have this weekend 31 people showed up and they still have

[00:46:40] the uh chandelier that's hanging with flowers and i think that's gonna stay because that is adorable i i love the chair covers it it makes different it it makes it like more bougie i love it i love it but again like they did on the post a most delightful afternoon at zora's our bridgington tea party was

[00:48:46] and i absolutely love love love uh i so love this she says and wish i could have been there too tina me and you both girl i would have been like let's let's go let's go uh but again talking about miss tina's post i don't know if you guys have seen this but um our coffee drive-through has a building

[00:49:10] over there like on berkshava highway and there is a picture that she's posted of the wall and it's just bare nothing's on it and she's put out there feelers if there's anybody like what should we do with it and we literally just had that guy from cannon county on on our cannon first 615 tina his name is derrick hughes and i'll get his number for megan if you want but um derrick hughes paints murals all over

[00:49:41] and he has done some phenomenal phenomenal work he has an instagram page i'll try to see if i can send it to you but you know the other thing is that i would put out there if tina's still listening is you know like painting by numbers like how they did at the park theater where you know every um you know people could come and paint as they go so if you could find somebody to do a paint by numbers concept

[00:53:03] there will be an extra 500 added to the first place which will make it a thousand bucks to win and an extra 120 125 added to second through fifth place so again if you have heard this is great for the truck and tractor pull this weekend going on and this is the makeup date from the last one when it

[00:53:29] rained out so make sure you go and do that also to last night the storms yes i was um with that being said the storms we follow vigilantly i have a good friend of mine he is in the from the sparta community absolutely love him but he runs and operates the upper

[00:53:58] cumberland weather and when severe weather hits i go to the upper cumberland weather because this man broadcasts the entire time not just his county but all the surrounding counties and he literally follows the storm and nothing against the meteorologist on two four and five but there's something about

[00:54:23] like the local podcasting itself the trust that people have and you know and again we're not at the end of the day just like myself and just like him david we're not in it for the money we're here to educate we're here to communicate we are here as a trusting source of information for our communities

[00:54:51] and if we have ever gotten anything wrong including myself and david he he's just like me we go back and we say hey sorry i misspoke or hey i need to make a correction things like that because again that's why it takes me two to four or five maybe sometimes even seven days to talk about a subject because i have to do a complete deep dive to make sure i'm getting the right information because i have

[00:56:12] you can subscribe for free and it just notifies you when a new story comes in but with that being said uh the brick that large brick building located at the great falls on caney fork river um that used to be and i'm scrolling through it because i want you guys to read it used to be the falls city cotton mill

[00:56:35] it was established back in 1892 and it ran until it flooded in 1902 and you got to think about how did it flood you know with how everything looks now but if you imagine if that um uh structure of that bridge was not built to mangate the the flow of the water that's how how the water used to be

[00:57:03] crazy just so crazy but the mill was started by a guy named asa faulkner who we had there's a picture in there of him it's not the best but it was in the 1880s and he started the mill and back in the day that this was one of the most major employers to get yourselves tied into it was a 23 000 square foot

[00:57:29] mill and it became one of the major employers in the region and was known for producing heavy cotton sheating at its peak the mill produced 4 000 sheets of cotton per day and they employed hundreds of workers now and this didn't just this included men women and children by the way now he did die in

[00:57:53] 1886 after he started the project but before the mill was completed it was taken over by his son clay faulkner and two of his business partners jesse walling and hl walling they finally opened it in 1892 and had about 300 people who worked there most of them were women and children because get this the

[00:58:17] children could go under the looms and reach things easier imagine that putting our kids to work now at that age child labor laws across the street from the falls city cotton mill is the spring house where abraham said workers obtained drinking water and the holding pool was used to keep perishable food

[00:58:42] clothes uh cold and i do remember that before refrigerators were a thing thing like if the water is streaming and it's cold it was just another way to refrigerate that food and you know again people were smart man and you know again i have to say this we were probably more smarter back then than we are now

[00:59:05] because we were so more cognitive thinkers then than we are now but that's just a little bit of the story um have i picked up the oh that's not nice we're gonna delete now i'm gonna put you in time out we have to

[01:03:37] this so um we shared this on our facebook post yesterday and um here we go hayden panettier uh passed away at the age of 36 years old now we all know her as on heroes if you ever watch that show on nbc

[01:04:03] as well as uh she was on the show called nashville and um you know she has talked about several times in the years past of her struggle with addictions and things like that and at the time i don't at this time of her death i don't think she had uh custody of her daughter um but with that being

[01:04:27] said the other day she was found unresponsive uh i believe it was in south green or greensville somewhere and the cause of death as of today abc news broke this uh earlier says hayden panettier died from a cardiac arrest following an apparent drug overdose um and it's just so sad um again she

[01:04:56] passed away on august the 16th at just the young age of 36 years old now the official cause of death is still pending a talks called the toxicology report report but authorities have found signs of no place

[01:05:15] so again you know if i can use her as an example demons are real people struggle on a daily basis i struggle a lot as well but not everybody struggles on a different level right and um with that being said

[01:05:36] you know there is so many faith-based rehab drug addiction any type of addiction everybody's got there's different types of addiction but the big thing that kills me about this with her being 36 years old as well as being a mom is a part of me is like did she think that she was alone

[01:06:00] alone because she's not alone and i say this as nice as i can too that um and i actually had this talk with uh one of the a girl one of the these one of my friends i hang out with that struggles too um i told her to her face because somebody told me this shout out to scott from endless possibilities

[01:06:26] i'm not special by any means my story isn't special right no everybody has the same story we just need to start talking to one another right and hayden had a an addiction and to me that as a somebody that takes care of people all right was she alone did she have family that helped

[01:06:51] her did she burn too many bridges did she you know but then seeing these programs that we have in warren county give me hope for people like hayden to come out of this alive you know and so before you decide to overdose before you decide to get off the wagon before you decide to make that decision that you're questioning you need to ask yourself are you sure about this are you okay about this

[01:07:20] uh and then like no i need to call somebody and get help about this in all reality there's over 13 programs here in the warren county community that's ready to help and you know these faith-based programs have been working they have been changing people left and right they're giving people hope

[01:07:45] and at the end of the day you can say what you want about any other program but if they don't have jesus in it you ain't yeah you want a good turnaround talk to jesus okay but i just wanted to say we're going to say a little prayer for hayden panetti's family today and her daughter that she has left behind sadly

[01:08:13] it's just it's it's it's wild to me it's just wild um another thing i wanted to talk to people about to uh this week it is the last day for registration um thursday final pageant registration is going to be on thursday this thursday from 6 to 7 30 p.m at 201 locust street if you're wondering what locust street

[01:08:43] is that is the warren county administrative building and i'm assuming they're probably uh going to have signs and banners but they're probably going to be set up in the magnolia room would be my guess uh but today is the final day for registrations and this is not just for you know the little fairest of the fair up to our fairest now we have two new pageants that um

[01:09:11] are inserted in on that saturday uh lean into the fair uh you got the um senior pageant and then you have the uh 20 to 59 year old age group right cindy's not here with me to correct me so yeah

[01:09:30] and then going back to about um addictions uh betty neil says amen bridget anderkin king is a lady that can hook you up yes bridget does a phenomenal job with their programs uh that they offer so again there

[01:09:52] there's a program for you do not think that your case is is is different from anybody else's you're not special everybody has a problem and you're looking at one of them i have a problem now i know it's not the same but listen i i love sugar and sugar just might as well be as worse as cocaine right but they made sugar legal

[01:10:21] okay so you know we have to take care of ourselves and how can you do that faith-based programs it's a no-brainer it's a no-brainer um also too wanted to talk to you guys about where was it at oh yes yes yes

[01:10:42] today is also national ic day so make sure you go to your 7-eleven your gas stations and get you a ic to celebrate its national way i should have went and got one but i didn't so i do apologize and then i wanted to do a shout out and i can't wait to share the video i'm still working on it sorry

[01:11:05] it's just been taking me so long but all week long cohen's creamery uh company is going to be closed all week long so they can restock and get ready for their grand opening this friday august the 21st they're going to open up at noon and they cannot wait to serve you literally we went after relay for

[01:11:30] life on uh saturday this past week and i needed something to cool me down right so i wanted some ice cream and then sydney was like hey let's go to um cohen's and so we go there and then they have so many desserts to choose from so many different styles of ice cream and i see this uniquely made

[01:11:57] banana split now i'm not talking about like a banana split that fits in like a hot dog case you know i'm talking about well it's hot dog packs like a traditional one i'm talking about this is literally how i had to carry it out it had three scoops of ice cream or three flavors of ice cream

[01:12:24] and it was scoops looked like the size of my fist together like i mean massive me and sydney and the kids shared this and we couldn't even finish we finished half of it but we couldn't finish the other half and it had the bananas in it it had i had strawberry chocolate and vanilla she gave me a neapolitan flare

[01:12:51] and then i had the strawberry but she added like caramel and uh i told her make your best so with the strawberry she topped it off with like um oh cream cheese or that the cake the cake bites that you can put on top so it was like a strawberry shortcake and then in the center it had caramel and peanut butter

[01:13:13] on the vanilla and then on the chocolate it had like god it reminded me of a whoopie pie but it was like cookie crumbs of something and they were moist and you could just oh my gosh y'all it was so good it was so delicious and then my son and uh sydney's daughter leilani got um have you seen the let me just

[01:13:41] show you because it's in the picture so in this picture you see this ice cream and it looks like rolled ice cream that's exactly what it is they get the ice cream of your choice they put it on this slab and then they kind of uh you know make it like roll it up like a fruit roll up and they put it in this cup and then they top it with their toppings i cannot express to you guys

[01:14:09] how awesome and amazing that an experience you're gonna get when you go into coen's you just are uh miss tina said so many things that are not good for us are legal i know right and so many things that are good for us are spoke about in a way that people fear them so this creates those items not to even be

[01:32:43] all right let's go to do a quick word of prayer to the lord above dear heavenly father thank you for this day that you've given us we just want to lift up all the unspoken prayers god you know put your hands over them and answer them as you as you do we want to also lift up anybody traveling today god be with that bridgeport uh football team coming down uh to play our middle schoolers um you know be with the football game itself god you know put a hedge of protection over them no injuries no you know just a good old

[01:33:11] football game and a good old time and that also includes with the cheerleaders everybody there as well please be uh specifically with the hayden penitir family um we you know we don't have to understand you know people's addictions and demons and things like that but we do understand that when people need prayer and so we just want to lift up her family her friends we also want to lift up her daughter um

[01:33:38] um because again not understand understanding why this happened with her mom being such at a young age at the age of 36 um but again uh we just want to put a you know peace and comfort over them as well and just leading god and direct her daughter um in the right path lord yeah losing uh your parent is
