Special Guest J.C. Petit & on the phone SlugFest 2026 Commentator Brett!
Warren First 931: Your local hub for all things community!
[00:00:00] I'm Jeff Simmons, and once again it's the JK Show! JK! JK! JK! JK! I had somebody yell at me last night at a ball game. Really? I did. Okay, so we're already making waves. It's already starting to pick up.
[00:00:27] I'm so glad it didn't take us that long to come up with this name. Honest to God, it was the easiest to come up with out of every show I've ever done in my entire life. I'm like, you know, with what I do with the community, what you do with the sports and everything else. I mean, this is going to be a great show guys, so make sure you stay tuned, stay on it, because we have a great lineup today. One thing I do want to say is we did have a lineup. I hope everything's okay with Amber Keaton. She was going to come on our show today, but unfortunately, due to some scheduling conflict,
[00:00:56] of course, it's the fair. Things pop up. Things happen. Because she is going to be talking later on, not this week, but sometime hopefully next week or the next, talking about this new wedding nook place that she has. And I really wanted to get her on. But again, hey, when duty calls, you got to go. Yeah. But with that being said, we do have one maybe special guest coming in here shortly, as well as, of course, with the fair going on, there's other events going on as well,
[00:01:26] like the Slugfest this Saturday on September the 19th at the Milner Recreation Center, which I'm, you know, the last time I seen a wrestling match out there was when it was like WCW and WWF. Yeah. And I mean, that goes way back. Yeah. Way back. That's a, I mean, that was basically back in our high school days, I would say. Oh, my, oh, my elementary. Oh, okay.
[00:01:54] The last time that I think I went to a match kind of like Slugfest was the, the tough man competition. Oh, yeah. And I appreciate Jackie Matheny Senior won it every single year. Well, there you go. And he still probably would now if they did it again, so. Probably so. Probably so. But tickets are still available and we are giving away two tickets every day, courtesy of the Slugfest folks. So again, shout out to Colin. I can't even think of his, Sweeten. Yeah.
[00:02:23] He won our tickets yesterday. So again, keep making, you know, posts, keep tagging, keep following, keep liking. And each night we're going to crown, I guess I could say, a crown, a new winner to see who wins the tickets. But it's going to, I think this is great. People always say there's nothing to do in Warren County, but literally there's always something to do for whatever your, you know, your, your boss, whatever your boss is. There's never not something going on in Warren County. I know.
[00:02:52] I mean, I understand what people are like, this isn't big city living or anything like that. I mean, the fair is going on this whole week. It's going to be going throughout the weekend. Yeah. Like you said, Slugfest. There's match. There's so many different sporting events. There's some sporting events. I was going to say, yeah. I mean, we have one of the biggest wins in volleyball history last night. Really? At the high school, yes. But came back, beat Cookville in five sets. First time that we've beaten Cookville in 14 years. Wow. Making history. Yeah. I mean, there's so many things that are going on right now. Yeah.
[00:03:21] That people need to check out. But at the same time, I mean, there's, I mean, we always talk about this. I made this rant last week on, when we were talking about everything locally. Yeah. There's good local food here. There's good local events here. There's good local bugs. I was going to say, I was like, cicada. What was it? That didn't sound like a, listen, if they're, if it gives me superpowers, bite me. We need superpowers for this week.
[00:03:51] I heard that. I was like, what in the world? Yeah. You saw that? I just blew off. Okay. Well, hey, we wanted to be outside. We wanted to be at the fair. We wanted to be, have the ambiance of the fair. We know. I think we've gotten that, of course, too. A little part of the fair is going on at Three Star Mall this morning, too. So, yeah, it kicked off. I actually, I was on the phone with Junior Petit checking in on this morning with his shenanigans. And of course, you know, they are going to be open just for today, you know, to help out with the senior citizens.
[00:04:22] But that is going on at the Three Star Mall. And they, they've moved it to the mall because of today going on, I think, until Saturday, we are under another heat advisory. Yes. So, I mean, it's not a bad thing. We want to keep our senior citizens happy and healthy at the same time. Oh, yeah. We want to keep everybody happy and healthy. But yeah, especially our senior citizens where it's going to be, as you said, another heat advisory. In fact, I mean, we could even get into a Reddick Brown weather.
[00:04:50] I was going to say, yeah. So, we can just go right into that. So, courtesy of our community weather, thanks again to Riddick Brown Ford for this. So, real quick, like we said, right now it is 80 degrees and it's only like 844. Yeah, the hoodie. I mean, I wear it. I thought you learned this yesterday, Jeff. I wear a hoodie every day. Okay. Do you have a hoodie of every color? Uh, you would be surprised. Okay. Mostly black, but yeah, this navy blue, I have a white one that's got camouflage.
[00:05:20] In fact, I got another white one. I have a few gray. Yeah, I have a lot. Oh, wow. Oh, see. They're all short sleepers. I bet she came for the senior day. Yeah. Bless your heart. Okay. So, real quickly, we're going to have to go educate her in just a few minutes. But right now, it's 80 degrees. It's going to be 92 the high, 67 the low. So, uh, the heat advisory is expected to be around 1 a.m. Um, 1 p.m. Oh, 1 p.m. Yeah. No, 11 a.m. Sorry. We're going to get it around 11 a.m.
[00:05:49] Uh, so hopefully, you know, and it's going to keep going each and every day because we're seeing more extended out. But, you know how we talked about rain, no rain. Well, supposedly, we're supposed to have a 40% chance of rain this Friday, but Saturday clear skies. Oh, okay. But then it comes back again on Sunday on 50% on all next week. Yeah. So, again, I do hope the rain holds off for the fair. Yeah.
[00:06:16] No one wants it to rain, honestly, um, because it just brings dirty humidity after that. Like, it gets really hot and humid after it. It really does. But remember guys, we got lots to do on. Dang. They, they stink. What? Mark Davis. I don't know who he's talking about. But with that said, we also have, uh, Brett. Uh, he is the, uh, commentator of Slugfest.
[00:06:43] He's going to join us by phone at 930 this morning. So, everybody bear with us on that and things because we're going to have a lot of noises going on all day. Yep. But again, fair is going on. We'll talk more about fair, the fun of sports today. Absolutely. Breaking news. I mean, Lisa was on it yesterday. I saw. Good Lord. Good Lord. All kinds of things going on. Yep. But we will be right back from a quick word from our sponsors.

And no, we're not kidding. This is happening all week long and then on. Oh, yeah.
[00:11:11] And with that being said, let's talk about some breaking news, local headlines, courtesy of Worldwide Liquors. Jeff, I mean, first, I don't know what it, when it happens, when it rains, it pours. Is the best way to explain it. So, I don't know which one came first. Yeager? I believe it was, actually. Yeah, Yeager was first. And then they had the overturned vehicle. Yeah. No, Francis Ferry was first. Yeah, that's right. That's right. That's right. Yeah.
[00:11:40] So, what happened exactly? Have we gotten any updates? The updates will be upcoming on the Warren County Way website. But for right now, I think that those are still in the reporting phase right now. So, I'm going to wait for Lisa to update me on the Warren County Way. So, what he was talking about, guys, if you don't know, yesterday, for instance, Ferry had, it looked like a one vehicle, potentially a one vehicle car turnover. And immediately, right after that, on Yeager Road, another accident happened.
[00:12:08] And then, after that, the big one, the big story that swept my feed and everybody messaging me about the father and son domestic. Yep. That happened. You want to talk about that one? Yeah, I can. I mean, a little bit.
[00:12:22] There was a local man that was charged with an attempted murder where the reporting was that a verbal domestic turned into physical on Sunday were resulting in charge of attempted second-degree homicide where Roy Cotton, age 49, served with a warrant taken into custody where he's been held at Warren County Jail with a bond set amount at $55,000. Wow. So, again, a father and son issue, according to McMinnville Police, Detective Corey Knowles.
[00:12:50] This is a quote from, I believe, the police report. The report said, the father went too far and rendered his son unconscious. Yeah. And refused to call 911 supposedly. Yeah. Allegedly. It's a big word we like to use. Yeah. According to the aggravated assault statute, you can charge attempted secondary homicide on that. That's why we went with second-degree. Yeah. So, again, too, just not the news that you want to break with. No.
[00:13:17] But obviously something that everybody talked about and said that, you know, it got out there and kind of went across. Yeah. It's escalated. Yeah. It escalated. And you know what I've noticed is when kids are out of, and this is the only time I see a lot of things happening, and I'm just, when kids are out of school, it's the summertime, when it's extremely hot conditions like it has been.
[00:13:41] And have you noticed, like when we had that wide sweep of the gentleman that barricaded him in his house and then unfortunately resulted in, you know, death on that one. Then the car wrecks that happened, we were in a heat advisory then. We're in a heat advisory now. And I just want people, when it's hot like this, people go crazy. It mind boggles me. In the holidays, we see a lot during the holidays, and that's coming up during Christmas and such.
[00:14:10] But we got to remember, you know, let's just stay hydrated. Keep a fan on, you know, whether it's solar powered or not. Let's just dime down the crazy just a little bit. Yeah. I mean, it's just, I think it's just added stress. Yeah. I mean, when it gets, I mean, we're all, I mean, we all deal with stress. We all deal with things that are going on, but nothing, nothing will stress you out more than just being hot, overheated.
[00:14:32] And then again, too, I mean, I would be remiss to say if we ever know everybody's true intentions about why they do what they do. It's just, it's crazy. Yeah. But we seem like we've had a, you know, a double dose or a triple dose of the craziest news breaking in Warren County over the last 10 to 14 days. But hopefully. 100%. Yeah. And then of course, too, I hope everybody that was in those accidents are going to recover and be all right.
[00:15:00] But again, too, just it's a lot of, a lot of crazy news that you end up with. And then by the end of the night, you just have a lot of celebrations. We do. We do. And talking about celebrations last night, another winner was crowned. We have to congratulate Lila Beatty. I mean, I'm not going to say I called it. We called it at the beginning. But I think we called it on the show yesterday. You know, you asked me, I asked about who was going to win. And, you know, normally, like we said, nobody ever really goes out and makes a prediction.
[00:15:29] You just try to say, hey, hope everybody has a good time. You did great, by the way. Yeah, Lila. This is immediately Lila. Did you go get a lottery ticket the same day? You know what I mean? You get a number 20. I think that's what she was convincing. Sorry, too late now. Let's get 20, 20, 20, 20. Oh, my gosh. What if you got it? Yeah, what if it hit? Oh, my God. No, I mean, let's just be honest, though. Lila is a very experienced, pageant performer. She's been a winner at multiple levels. Long time coming for her.
[00:15:57] She's won at the fair before and some of the other younger levels. So it wasn't like I went out on a limb and said, man, that's, you know, somebody who nobody's ever heard of. Yeah. So everybody's kind of heard of Lila. Right. And you know, one thing I love about her story, which I cannot wait. We're going to actually get to have all or most of the queens that were crowned this week. And today will be the last day for the pageants, by the way.
[00:16:22] But I can't wait to have them on here and sitting with us and just talking about the preparation and things like that. I can't wait to hear someone says you got some great questions to ask these queens. I'm always ready to talk to the queens. But no, but with Lila, her story to me is always so fascinating because when you hear people have a struggle in their life, nine times out of 10, you very rarely hear that 1% that actually strives above it.
[00:16:50] And if you notice in her walk, in her stance, the way she was, she had this one hand in the same position all the time. That's because, and literally she said it four years ago, it was the anniversary that she had the car wreck. And so, you know, she has no feeling in this whole arm. She cannot. And I know that she's working with, I talked to her mom last week. Yeah. And they, you know, I know that she's working with doctors and she has. The robotics. The robotic part of it.
[00:17:20] But, you know, at the end of the day, it's never stopped her. And it did not change who she was. Like, she's still Lila. No, I mean, if anything, I think, I mean, the perseverance that she's fought through to go on and continue to be an inspiration. I mean, I think it's actually elevated. I mean, I think she's, I think she's went out, she's spread her message. She's went and spoken to a lot of people because the injury that she has is, I mean, not, is very, very, very uncommon.
[00:17:48] But, again, too, for the people that went through it, she's an inspiration now to tell them, hey, listen, I mean, you can still go out and do all the things that you want to do, including be a pageant queen. Be a pageant queen. Now she'll be able to go represent Warren County. Yeah. At the next level. I can't wait to see what her year of reign, you know, and I know I hate comparing, but Annabelle did such a great job representing.
[00:18:17] We've had amazing queens, don't get me wrong. But, you know, just for, you know, reference sake, the way that Annabelle has represented Casa and has, like, put in the, like, what they said about her last night probably isn't everything that she's done. No. Not a chance. And so she's been an amazing queen. Yeah. Humanitarian award that she won. So, again, too. I mean, that's the thing that we kind of lose sight of occasionally is we come out here, we see these young ladies perform.
[00:18:45] Or, I mean, now we've seen, you know, it advance to the senior level. We have the missus. Yep. All the pageants. Now, they're not just pageant queens that night. No. They keep that reign for a year. I mean, Lela's somebody that's going to represent the Warren County A&L Fair and Warren County extremely well over the next year, just like Annabelle did. I do. I agree. And there was a lot of contestants last night.
[00:19:07] And I want to say, whether you win or lose, getting on that stage last night, ladies, was over half the battle. Yep. And I, again, people ask me to do that miss pageant. Absolutely not. You cannot, again. Next year. No. Not even next year. I have a, I don't know what it is about pageants, Jeff. I cannot do that. I'm a sore loser at heart. As soon as I get on the stage, I've already lost. Yeah. It's one of those things.
[00:19:35] But with that said, we do have, I think, I don't know where he went. Did you, can you say him? He's probably hiding around here somewhere. Well, Junior is on the property somewhere. We are going to take another quick break from a word from our sponsors because he said he was going to pop down here in like nine o'clock. So it's coming up. So remember Warren County. We'll come back with our special guest, Junior Petit from Jay's Restaurant. And remember. Keep it first.

And I have with me right now, I'm going to let you hold this, because me and Jeff are really talking up where we can share one.
[00:24:24] We have with us the one and only from Jay's Restaurant, Junior Petite. How are you? I'm still absorbing the fire. I mean, this is the first time that I've been on the grounds of the fairgrounds with rides actually moving in 23 years. Wow. Oh, yeah, that's right. Because we always close for vacation and close, and we're usually going somewhere. Yeah. And, oh, this is, you know, you're absorbing it. This is really cool.
[00:24:52] So, with it, Harry, have y'all enjoyed it? Like, what have you enjoyed most so far with your family? Talking to people. Yeah. You know, I mean, this brings me back 35 years ago when I was in high school coming out here and hanging out. I'm seeing some of those people. I ran into somebody last night that I haven't seen in 35 years. Wow. And I thought, they looked at me and said, you haven't changed. And I said, no, but you have.
[00:25:21] But now, I mean, you know, it's amazing how fair, you know, this magnitude brings people together. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I always say it's like a big family reunion. It's like we may not all get along, and we might, you know, have a couple of drama moments. Occasionally. But then, at the end of the day, we just need to eat something, drink something, or ride something, and we make ourselves happy once again. That's a good way to look at it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. But no, but also, too, you know,
[00:25:47] one of the breaking news stories that we have both covered from the Warren County Way and the Warren First 931 is, of course, you know, your restaurant. You know, it's been a hot topic through your campaign, and now after. Is there any update going on? I know from the last meeting, I remember off the top of my head, is that the Robert Gratcher, the attorney for the county, was going to write a new lease. Now, have you got that yet?
[00:26:17] I'm checking emails as we're speaking. Okay, okay. I was like, I'm like, did I say something wrong? And I can tell you, as of today, that there has been nothing sent from my attorney to me. Okay, okay. Nor have I had a phone call, because, you know, that was one thing that I had passed information last week, that, hey, I'm in town, so if I need to stop and come by the office, and let's sit down and talk, and look at whatever they're proposing to you to send to me, you know, I'm free. Yeah. So, now I haven't got a phone call or email. Okay.
[00:26:47] Now, if you don't get a phone call or email by, let's say, this Thursday, are you going to, like, you know, make the phone call on Friday and say, hey, when can we meet? Is that something? They're going to meet on Monday night. I know. I mean, Monday night's a deadline. Yeah. So, I don't know. I mean, one thing I've looked at this week is, you know, weighing options. Let's say that I take a $300 increase proposal. So, it's going to cost employees their jobs, a few of them.
[00:27:18] Because it's, I mean, you know, we're seeing economy right now has come to a halt. Yeah. And also, too, I've been saying, you know, not just at, you know, I eat at Jay's and all the other local restaurants. I noticed yesterday, and shout out to Depot Bottom, I enjoy their loaded baked potatoes that they serve out there. But she also had to do an increase in prices. You're seeing that, you know, and that fluctuates back and forth. Are you seeing that in the grocery side of things?
[00:27:47] Because we talk about grocery tax all the time. No, no, no. Have I just recently seen a grocery increase? No, we've seen grocery increase for years. Yeah. Actually, that was brought up to me last night. Said, well, is one of your things to increase the price of a menu? And I said, let me give you an example. Did you ask for an increase at the grocery store? So if you didn't, why should I pass it on to you? It's not your fault. Yeah. You know, I only time I ever raise food prices is, yes, when food costs goes up, but I'm still trying not to. Yeah.
[00:28:16] And, you know, enough to cover employees. I've actually made the same amount of money in the last several years. People don't understand this. What we're going on right now with contract agreements and this and that is nothing I didn't do five years ago, 10 years ago, 15, 20. We always do five year lease. Yeah. You know. And I know Michael Bell did bring it up in the, there was maybe one or two times it was, I guess that was probably at the beginning when it was with your daddy or something, maybe that it wasn't, he didn't do five year,
[00:28:46] might've been the three years. No, we've always done five. Okay. The question I have after everything came out from the last one. And then, you know, Lisa did a article on the Warren County way where she explained kind of the rates that everybody pays square footage. Yeah. Has there been any explanation that I might've maybe missed out there of why there's a varying degree of square footage charges based on different, I mean, is there,
[00:29:14] if they explained to you why maybe you pay more than 90% of the other businesses that pay in the mall. I mean, I know there was the exclusivity calls that might've been in there, but now I don't even think that's going to be something that they're, I mean, what, what, what's been the explanation of why there's two 29 rates and there's eight cent races. Good question. Very good question. Cause if you look at also, which I have recently got my hands on the lease agreements for the ones that are
[00:29:43] paying 70 cents or 51 cents or 53 cents or eight cents a square foot. Yeah. Um, they're not a year contract. If you realize, if you, if you really dig into this, the, this is the first time in three years that the county's on the property that any business entity come under that roof is when in front of a committee, anything that goes over a 365 day contract, regardless of if it's a, a business coming to the mall or it's a construction, it has to go in front of a board.
[00:30:12] So this tells you that the ice cream shop, the computer tech store, the game store, the three layer lab, three D printing. They didn't sign a 300. They didn't sign a four year contract. I'm hearing six months and less. And you know, or are there, is there a situation where it might be like almost introductory pricing? I mean, I can, I'm just, I'm curious. And this is something that we're going to have to have probably somebody from
[00:30:43] the commission or somebody with the county or even the county executive kind of explain on this, because I do feel like I would, I would feel like there would be some kind of standard rate, whether it speaks at least by industry. I said this on the show last week was that by at least industry, like if it's retail, it's this, if it's, if it's restaurant, it's this, if it's something else, it's this, but I just feel like beauty. Well, if you think about it, what, what should be fair is everybody pays a square,
[00:31:13] the same square footage. You would think so. And then this helps the store. If it's a small amount, they can actually, like if what I was proposing on my first, my offer, it wasn't to benefit me on the money as much as it was to increase my employees that I cannot run a business without to increase their pay because they're paying the same price of the gas pump is made just because I own a business and they don't. Guess what? We're still paying the same price.
[00:31:40] I need those people without bumping the pay. I can't do it. And, you know, in all fairness, you know, playing both sides here since the County has bought it, you know, out of King thing, how many years now, three, four years, 2023, July of 2023. With that being said, one of the biggest points that not only you and I know other tenants that were there, it was always known as the three store mall because the previous ownership was not filling those,
[00:32:09] those empty spaces. And at the time of the contracts that you had in years past, you could get by with saying, Hey, because there's only X amount of stores in here, my rent doesn't need to be increased. Right. But is it fair to say now that the County is bought? It's filling up with different businesses and such. Do you think that it is fair? And again, when I was talking about this with the guys the other night too,
[00:32:35] after one of the meetings that now that it's filling up in the contract and essentially from what I'm understanding, your contract is the one, the first one from the old way that's getting relooked at. So you're going to be like the new stepping stone for the other ones. Like what would that be back and body still got to be looked at? Um, now I can't, Cali nails, roses, um, the middle Tennessee, or I don't know. I can't remember when they got in.
[00:33:04] I got without looking at the thing, but you're the start of the new era of the counties, how the County is going to handle these leases, you know? And with that being said, with all these new businesses, do you, do you feel that you're, you know, y'all's go to being the three store mall still sticks? Yes. And I mean, if you think about it, if you go back to the, I believe it was the July meeting,
[00:33:34] our finance director actually threw out the proposal of why don't we, why don't we just charge 70 cents a square foot? That was in your thing. Yeah. I mean, you know, so it was, it was funny that they brought that up, but then when I bring it up, they shot me down, but they, they actually brought it up first and that's where we're confused. Yeah. Um, are you hoping that when you get the, when you see this lease agreement between now and hopefully Friday, I guess is the goal that it will be at that 75 cent rate. Is that your, it's probably too late because you know, they,
[00:34:04] unless they have drafted something up, but that's the one thing is since the last, uh, building and grounds meeting, they actually want to come up with their own paper contract because mine is 36 plus pages long. Yeah. Uh, and you know, it, it, it was time to probably narrow it down. Don't get me wrong. But I feel like if you're, if you're the owner of something and you're wanting to strip something away from the tenant,
[00:34:32] then you should comp back, you know, a little bit of something. I have a question. I mean, as, as y'all been a part of it, as this negotiation process has went along, I saw someone, uh, a comment that was thrown out there that said every single time that there's been a negotiation and renegotiation, the prices just went up. Is that true? Or is there ever been a time where there was a give back at some point? No, there was never, there's never been a give back to my knowledge. Okay. Uh, I don't sit in the meetings because we were addressed,
[00:35:02] uh, the first, the first one in July, that it was going to be lawyer versus lawyer. Okay. So that's why nobody's seeing me at these meetings. Yeah. and you know, uh, I do remember that back in, I think it was July where they said, you know, uh, because at the end of the day when, and I do apologize, this happens when I'm outside too long, but, uh, Terry bill essentially during the election time, kind of, and I don't want to say step down, but I don't know what other word to use. He stepped down because he's technically the mall manager.
[00:35:31] Cause there's really not, but nobody deemed the mall manager. So when the County bought it, well, let's, let's back up. Nobody wants to take the responsibility of being named that. There are the go-tos. Yeah. Uh, but nobody, but this was a special situation because you and him were both going for that position. And I understood why he is it recused himself from being that responsible leadership part. But at that point, I do feel like in that meeting, somebody should have stepped up and said, okay, let's,
[00:36:00] and I think that's why building and grounds is seeing it. You got to see it through now. Cause they were given that position during the election and now they got to see it through. They do. And that's why we're still dealing with this and building. The citizens need to also understand, you know, that if I had one County executive that I was closing shop. Yeah. I mean, that was, that was through the state and I was willing to give that up. Yeah. You know? Yeah. But I mean, you know, it is what it is.
[00:36:29] I don't lose no sleep over it. I'm just, you know, well, I think that at the very least, I think that you're going to do it. And it's, you had to be the guinea pig on any of this, but I feel like there is going to be a situation where at the very least, everybody's going to want to know at some point, what is going to be the standard operating procedure moving forward with businesses that are either renewing with them all or going to be trying to come into them all. Because at some point you do, it does feel like you're kind of a,
[00:36:58] that this scattershot pricing makes it, uh, I would think untenable. It's your, uh, it's your first step example of how we're, how we're going forward. Yeah, exactly. And then you're right. So you're kind of the guinea pig when it comes to this. And again, that's not, I hate that, but someone was going to be. Yeah. So why not go with the guy that's been there for 40 some odd years? 43, 43. I remember that. 43. Yeah. Cause it was 43 and a half now. Hang on. And I can tell you exactly. here we go. He's got the date.
[00:37:28] Cause it's older than me. It's a year older than I do. 43 years, four months and nine days. There you go. Wow. No. And again, I think, you know, this is just one of the, you know, Jay's restaurant is one of the pillars of the businesses that have outlasted, you know, I can't tell you as many hardships as Warren County has gone through COVID. I mean, the last one, the big, you know, you know, all these things. And I will say going to the comments, cause T is like blowing it up.
[00:37:56] And I just wanted you to know what he was saying. Okay. The contracts reveal who set it up and impact the, these tenants. Warren County is now a landlord. He also said in here, he goes to help J's out. We need to see original contract and where it went wrong. The contract, the contract can transparency is necessary for informed decisions. And with that being said to you,
[00:38:23] I know that his original contract is like 44 odds on pages. They, they came up with over four. Yeah. I've got 36. Okay. 36. 36. Okay. I couldn't remember how it was a lot of pages. That's not too bad. That's a pretty big number. And it says the County is not. And he says the County is not a landlord for tenants. It is constitutional. He also added a County actions without representation for the people. And then last, this is not an, a,
[00:38:52] an executive commissioner's responsibility per certee bond and oath of office in the constitution. And so, and lastly, cause he's just blowing it up. It's the constitution for federal state and local. So just to, you know, get a little heads in there. So, I mean, you do have people that support you and with that, you know, there's people always for you and against you. And I'm, you know, I'm not saying there's people against, but at the end of the day, like, I think we could end on that note where you said, you know,
[00:39:22] Jay's restaurant is, and I hate to say the lack of better words, like you said, the Guinea pig. And again, hopefully this can smooth everything out. And then, you know, I can't wait to see what Callie Nails is, is going to look like. Cause they are currently the highest paying tenant per square foot. Well, and you know, 229. I don't hold, I'm not upset with anybody. You know, this is negotiation. It's almost like you would say a contract at a factory or with a union or something. I mean, you know,
[00:39:52] business is business. And I understand that. Yeah. It just, first of all, it shouldn't take this long. Any other lease I've ever had, we had it at within three weeks. Yeah. You know, but this is different because, you know, when you come to government, it takes steps. You know, nothing goes moves and fast. Yeah. And this is your first time dealing with the government working with the lease. So, yeah. And so, but again, decisions I do, if anybody's been keeping up with a Warren first or the Warren County way,
[00:40:21] the decision has to be made Monday by the beginning, I'm assuming by the beginning before the building and grounds is, says their spiel because it's gotta be voted on. You know, while Jeff is sitting here, I don't know if you've heard this from others within the organization of Warren way, but I really love how y'all report because it's not always going to go the person's way, but it's the truth. As long as the truth is reported,
[00:40:51] then everything should be happy. Go lucky. And everything is, I mean, you know, it's spot on accuracy. I'm always an open book. I have got phone calls from the Warren way asking me questions. I can always say no comment. They can put that in there or whatever. People need to understand. I am an open book. My phone is always open campaigns over. I ran on my, and I still run on my, if you want to call me and, talk the weather, talk UT football,
[00:41:20] talk about this contract, talk about whatever's going on in life. I'm here to let you bend, but that's the way I am, you know, in any situation. And I just, I love, I love how everything is, but I've had a lot of support. Yeah. It's opened your eye to how much, how much people support you. Yeah. I mean, you know, and like I said, I don't have no ill feelings to commissioners, uh, Terry Bale, the, the war local government, you know, it's just, uh, well, there's no,
[00:41:50] it just is, it's just, I don't, you know? Yeah. And it's like you said, this is a, the first guinea pig. Yeah. Hey, how are you feeling about Tennessee football? I've got, honestly, I have not got to dive into the last injury of the ACL. Yeah. Ethan Davis. Yeah. That's tough. Um, yeah, that's going to, that's going to hurt the offense. It's going to change. Maybe. So I got to look at the backup. He scored a touchdown on the first, he scored the first touchdown on the first two games. Also too, you said something about the weather. I mean,
[00:42:20] how are you, how are you dealing with this? Give me a Reddit Brown weather update from June 14. I can tell you right now that normally this time of year, we're in St. Martin for anywhere from, from 10 days to, 20. So you're not, and it is cooler there than here. And it is their hottest month of the year. Yeah. Wow. Cooler here. I'm sorry. Cooler there. Yeah. Uh, this, and, and people need to be really careful today. Start hydrating now if you're coming out tonight, because they did extend us last night into the extreme heat today. Oh,
[00:42:49] we don't want to hold you up too much. I know you got some people to be going back and helping over there at the mall with the senior day. We're, yes. I'm waiting on a phone call from somebody that's going to, we're going to, open up today, even though we're closed and possibly there were lunch. If I confirm a helper. Yeah. Uh, and then we're also, I actually come out here today. It caught you. Y'all caught me. Uh, went by our democratic booth because we're, uh, come out every morning and get a list of people who want yard signs for my wife. Oh, there you go. And I go out throughout the day and pick them up before I come back out tonight.
[00:43:18] There you go. So, well, we're going to take a quick break from award from our sponsors, but when we get back more things to come and remember, Warren County, keep it first. I'm Kelly Walker-Slaughter. I am Jeff Simmons. And we are live at the Warren County A&L Fair, and I'm just gonna take a pause. I love the breeze. The breeze is great. Just keep going, keep going. Corn stalks just keep going through.
[00:47:59] We got the roosters growing. It's just a nice setting. I feel like we should go milk cows. You go ahead. Can we do the farmer's pose? You know, I'll be the wife, you be the man, or the farmer's pitcher. I mean, that would be comical. It would be something. But no, but the weather is perfect, guys. And again, thanks to Reddick Brownford for being our community weather sponsors. Currently, or right now, though, we are at a whopping 84 degrees. It is gonna be a high, don't need to today.
[00:48:28] And remember, if you are a senior citizen, the activities normally do happen out here, but due to the heat advisory, it is back at the air-conditioned three-star mall. So make sure you go out there and get your, you know, senior day on. And I think this is great. Lana and them at the Warren County Senior Center have put on a phenomenal, I mean, it's like all day. And I think they end like a little after lunch, but they have one activity after another.
[00:48:57] But with us now, on the phone, we have from Slugfest, it is the announcer, the man at the arena. The man at the arena. Yeah, the man. I say the man, the myth, and not the legend. We have with us Mr. Brent. How are you, bud? What's up, McMinnville? This is Brent Knight, the voice of the five from Tennessee Slugfest. How y'all doing? We are so great. So first and foremost,
[00:49:27] how did you get involved in, like, Slugfest? Is this something that, you know, they approached you, you approached them? How did you get involved in this? So before Slugfest was established earlier this year, we started it in February, I was working with everybody over at Black Flag Sports Entertainment with Extreme Fighting Alliance. So XFA is also a promotion that's involved under the same Black Flag banner, and I was the head of commentary for that promotion.
[00:49:56] So I was doing that for about a year. Initially with that, I've always kind of just been into combat sports broadcasting. So they did a show near me, and I showed up and met the promoter, and I was like, put me in, coach. So then about a year after that, is when Slugfest came around. Oh, I love it. I love it. So talking about as many years as you've been involved in Slugfest, like, this is the first time it's come to Tennessee,
[00:50:24] or at least Warren County, McMinnville. Tell everybody what we should anticipate. So Slugfest is a way to bring in people, you know, amateur guys that aren't, you know, very deep in their careers yet. We get a lot of people making their, you know, their amateur debuts with us. So what it is, is it's 16-ounce gloves. So it's the big style boxing gloves, and you get three one-minute rounds. And so it's pretty much in the industry,
[00:50:53] they call them smokers. You know, we, Slugfest is Slugfest. We have our own rule set in Tennessee now, and there was a lot of this style going on in the late 90s, early 2000s, but we have brought it with our own kind of flavor on it. So, you know, expect to see locals. We got a lot of fighters from McMinnville. One of our first champions, Dustin Bennett, is from McMinnville. So we've been asked to come out to McMinnville for a long time, and this weekend we make it happen. I love that. I love that. Yeah, again, too.
[00:51:24] I mean, I'm just looking through some of the fighters you have. You said Corey Richardson's making his debut. He's a McMinnville guy. Shots Miller. I mean, I'm seeing some of these hit, some of these nicknames. Are they coming up with these, some of the fighters, by the time they get to us, they have their own nickname. But me, I run commentary, so I've commentated every Slugfest fight we've ever had, and there is a decent amount of fighters out there, and they know who they are that are sporting the nickname that I gave them. Okay,
[00:51:53] so is Heavy Hands Hanby one of those? He is, yes. Ryan Hanby got his nickname in either his first or second fight, and it just rings with the R's, and the dude's got heavy hands. Ryan hits hard. He won his championship fight last time out, seven seconds, first round knockout. The dude's an animal. Oh, wow. I mean, I'm sitting here thinking, I was like, they're usually a 10 count, so I mean, he must have just absolutely clocked this guy. Yeah. Out cold. Wow.
[00:52:23] Okay. So I mean, this is some brawling that's going to go on, but at the same time, obviously, this is very organized and just a great thing that y'all are building throughout Tennessee. Exactly, and that's the thing is, you know, people that are in, you know, the lifestyle of fighting, these guys that are going to gyms and stuff, very rarely will you ever make any kind of amateur sports debut on a bigger platform than we're going to give you, at least like the big show feel.
[00:52:52] We got the gimbal camera and the ring. We're going live on pay-per-view. Everybody that works on the production side of this promotion really knows what they're doing. You know, we get a lot of reps in. We've done a lot of shows, so, you know, if you're going to get out there for the first time, you know, and you're not scared of the bright lights, we bring the bright lights. And one comment from one of our listeners, Miss Tina from Our Coffee is asking, you know, she goes, Slugfest, I like it. Are there any women fighters as well?
[00:53:22] Absolutely. Our women's division, we actually, on our Facebook page and our website, we just published the pound-for-pound rankings for our females division. There's a lot of girls that have already been there quite a bit. They're making, you know, names for themselves. And, yeah, so we are getting ready to crown our first female champion here real soon. So the girls get in there. Honestly, sometimes the best fights are the girl fights. They just fight with a little bit more ferocity, so to speak. So, yes,
[00:53:52] the female division is very deep with Slugfest. Yeah, looks like just beat them down. Brown's the number one on that pound-for-pound list. Again, folks, you can go to Facebook, search out Tennessee Slugfest. A lot of information about the fights and a lot of things coming up, including Doris Knuckles. Yeah. I like that. We actually might have Doris on the show by phone tomorrow. Okay. So I'm really excited about doing something. Maybe. Okay. Maybe. It's all up in the air, but are you going to get
[00:54:21] in there and fight them? No, absolutely not. Okay, that's probably a good idea. Got to protect the cellar. I do think. No, but Brett, tell everybody how they can get tickets, you know, the time, the location, and all that. All right, so it all goes down this Saturday, September 19th at the Milner Recreation Center. So that's the Milner Recreation Center, September 19th. That is this Saturday. The doors open at four. The fights start at five. You can get tickets at slugfestfights.com.
[00:54:51] You can go to Tennessee Slugfest on Facebook. Either one will get you to the link to purchase your tickets. The tickets start at 25 bucks. If you can't make it, we have a whole lot of money invested in a high-quality pay-per-view. You can get that at combatsportsnow.com. It's on Roku TV. It's on Apple TV. It is not hard to find. You can go to slugfestfights.com and click the direct link there. In the pay-per-view, we always do really well in the pay-per-view because the people that can't make it out, you know,
[00:55:20] we really try to make you feel like you're in the arena if you watch the pay-per-view. But come out to the Milner Recreation Center on Saturday. It's going to be a great event. I mean, and then also, too, if you watch it on pay-per-view, you get to hear Brett. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. That's right. So I run the broadcast team. I'm not the ring announcer, although Brandon, the mouth of the South, Gatsy, is our ring announcer. He's a very experienced ring announcer. If he's out of town, I will step in and do the ring announcements. But I run the broadcast, so I do the weigh-in show.
[00:55:50] While they're fighting, I am commentating, and I do the post-fight interviews with the winner inside the ring as soon as they are declared the winner. How many bouts are we looking at this Saturday? Every single card will vary because people drop in and out, but we always put on at least 30 plus. It's always 30 to 40. Usually falls somewhere in that 33 to 36 range on average. Okay. And then I do know, is today or is it tomorrow that, like,
[00:56:19] that y'all are stopping on selecting the fighters? Like, I know, I think they have, like, a cutoff where if they want to, if there's time to still enter for the slugfest. Yes, if you're just entering, I would definitely get that in as soon as possible. It's going to vary a little bit. Sometimes fights get tossed around real quick with last-minute replacement fights, but if you have not filled out a fighter application with us, you want to do that by the end of the day today. Okay, yeah, I just found the thing
[00:56:48] we shared yesterday from you guys. It actually is, today the 16th? No, tomorrow. It says, calling all fighters Tennessee Slugfest, Mayhem, and McMinnville. A couple of spots have opened up. Deadline to enter is by tomorrow at 9 a.m. Okay. So, you want to get that in today because you've got to actually apply on the website and put all your information in and whatnot because we do, you know, everything is through the state. I got you, I got you. And one thing I do really like about this because in previous years, you know,
[00:57:18] because I was looking up stuff and I was talking to Mandy about this, this is a family friendly, correct? Correct. So, you know, for all you people that's been watching like other types that there's, when you type in Slugfest, you got to make sure you go to the Tennessee Slugfest because there's a lot of doppelgangers, spammers, copicatters, and copycatters. And that's one thing I wanted to push on this because I was saying, well, my son may want to go. Is it okay? Because I saw some videos and she's like, oh,
[00:57:47] that's not us. You know, and I was like, okay, okay, just wanted to make sure. But I'm absolutely loving all the promos everybody's putting out like, oh, I saw it last night. Was it Bill? Is there Billy the kid? Yeah. Yeah. We hopped out in the car. Yes. Yeah. People love the promo videos. Some of the fighters really do enjoy doing them.
[00:58:17] I get a kick out of them because obviously with running the broadcast team like I do, I am in charge of how we're trying to present these fighters to the fans. And sometimes they don't realize that some of the simplest things about these people will be the most lovable parts. Yeah. You know? And sometimes these people, like sometimes the character, sometimes I'm like, bro, if you just be you, everyone will love you. So it's so interesting. The personalities are all over the place. Yeah. They're going to wonder what that conversation was in the break. Absolutely not. I guess you should just watch the after show if we start doing an after show. We could do an after show. Yeah. And where our opinions run wild. This is after dark. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I would do that. 100%. Then they wouldn't like me after that. Yeah. I love you. Well, right now, we are going to tap
[01:02:42] into Jeff's brain about all things, everything, local, and I also want to put this in because I saw it this morning, too, that I definitely want to tap into. Making history. Warren County High School Volleyball Team. Men's. I saw that post this morning. Yeah, they're going to be bringing together the first time. This is kind of like what we've seen happen in the last few years with flag football where they started a program and started and that's kind of run with it. The men's team had a kid come up to me literally last night and asked me, what do you know
[01:03:12] about this team that's coming up? I was like, well, they're going to hold some informational meetings, but what they're really going for right now is that the state of Tennessee is trying to work its way into sanctioning men's volleyball at the TWSAA level, but they don't have enough high schools that are currently participating. So it's going to be a club sport for this year, but Warren County this spring is looking to debut its volleyball team. Don't be surprised if Chris Madewell would be somebody that would be leading
[01:03:42] that program as well. You don't see Coach Fisher branching off and doing the men maybe? Or maybe tapping in both sides doing the assistant on both ends? If I was a betting man, I would say Chris Madewell is going to be heavily involved. I love that. Okay. Well, you heard it here first. A little insider information. Okay. I love it. I love it. And then, of course, last night, what course went down? Well, the big ones, the big match that ended up, you know, kind of taking all the headlines last night would have been the Warren County High School volleyball
[01:04:10] team plays Cookville. Of course, Aaron Blalock's team has been, came into the season a lot of expectations, started off really well, hit a little bit of a rocky point in the middle of district season. And then last night versus Cookville came in on a two-game winning streak, but everybody's sitting there thinking, yeah, we kind of got healthy against Van Buren County. We got healthy against Laverne, but can we do it against Cookville? Well, they can. Yeah, they can. Their best was enough to beat the defending district champions, beat a team that we haven't beaten
[01:04:40] more than maybe, I don't even think that in the history of our high school volleyball program, which goes back 40 years, I don't know if we've beaten Cookville more than five times ever. Wow. So that's how big of a win that was for the Lady Pioneers last night. Shout out, special shout out to Natalie Payne. It was her 17th birthday. She was one of the best players on the court last night. Erin Blaylock even pointed it out, said that it was kind of cool. She ended up with 15 kills in the match. She was kind of hoping she had gotten two more
[01:05:10] so she could have had 17 kills on her 17th birthday. Natalie Payne played really, really well. Ella Wales had to step in. This was something that happened for them right before the match. Caroline Boyd, a sophomore, middle hitter for their team, actually got injured in the JV match. She plays a little bit of rotation JV and on varsity. So they had to change the entire rotation before the match. Ella Wales steps in, plays really big. Eliana Heights, who's come in from Arizona, she had a big match as well. But we should also
[01:05:40] shout out, it was 8th grade night. Oh, I was going to say, yeah. Soccer and volleyball, 8th grade night, they were both winners last night. The middle school volleyball team sweeps all good behind four, before, behind four 8th graders who had an incredible effort. I mean, start learning the name Ellie Dixon. That girl is a absolute, just, I mean, she, she, she can smoke the ball. It was unreal how hard she can hit the ball. As an 8th grader, Chloe Howell had a great run last night.
[01:06:10] Again, Liv Wilson, the libero, did a great job and then fouling young blood also had a big match for them. And then on the soccer side, 5-0, Cumberland County. Also, their 8th grade night, they had 11 8th graders on that team. Two of those 8th graders, 8th graders, Finn McDonald and LB Guthrie, both had two goals. LB love her. LB has 22 goals this year. Wow. In 12 games. She's phenomenal. And then tonight, talking about going in tonight, I know it's 8th grade night for the middle schoolers
[01:06:40] football team. Are y'all gonna, is there any, gonna be any presents for that tonight? we'll be broadcasting. We'll be setting up on, we set up on the visitor's side. We're gonna be broadcasting. It's a nice side, isn't it? Oh yeah, I love it. It's got a good shade. Yeah, we get to see the home team. We put the tent up, we get the view of the home, we get the, our camera gets a good view of the home crowd. So again, too, hope everybody will show up for their night, really show up, show out. I know there's things going on here, but you can make it to both. I promise. You can. You can get to both of them. And, or if you're gonna be here
[01:07:09] and you're saying, hey, look, I've already made my plans. Yeah. I'm gonna go to the fair. Well then just tune into the Warren County Sports Authority and watch the game. You can watch the game here and be enjoying the fair at the same time. when you say watch the game, where can they watch it at? The Warren County Sports Authority Facebook page and Studio 605 Productions on YouTube. And again, too, also at five o'clock tonight on Studio 605 and the Warren County Way. Back it up, Terry. There you go. He's got Joey Clark. Oh, I cannot wait to see that. And, you know, talking about, you know,
[01:07:39] celebrating kids, shameless little plug I'm about to, but tonight, Warren First 931 always hosts the kids karaoke. Yeah. Because I'm always big on getting, I've been helping out. I've been a part of the adult karaoke myself. I have been, also now, I'm, you know, MC alongside with Stephen Elton as well. One of, somebody you guys know as well. And, you know, one thing we've introduced about three or four years ago was kids karaoke because we want to get the youth involved in doing that
[01:08:08] because we have that. So, tonight at seven o'clock, I will be back there at the Security Federal Antique Shed. And again, if you have pre-registered, thank you. But make sure you get here at 635 for the drawing because if we have more than 20 names entered in, I have to draw because we all, I mean, it's a school night, y'all. We cannot stay out all eight hours of the night. And plus, I need to get my rest. But make sure you come on, come on. And I am going to try to go live with it
[01:08:38] as best I can on YouTube. I know watching the Ben Lohman feed from the pageants that there's been some, you know, music copyright issues. I'm going to try my best to at least record it so if the parents want it. But again, we try our best. We may be able to put up the winner's performance on Thursday. Yeah. Perhaps. Maybe we won't get copyright hit on that. Maybe not. What's your go-to karaoke song? Sinwagon by the Dixie Chicks. Okay. Patsy,
[01:09:08] Klein's crazy. It depends on the mood, right? So when I go to Nashville, I'm just going to tell you I'm my go-to. When I go to Nashville and they're like drunk as a skunk, I'm like, you know what? I need something fast. I need to pick it up. So I make sure it's got fiddles. It's got the mandolin like you hear it. And then that gets everybody like going and hee-hawing. But if I'm in like it just started and there's nobody here, I start off slow, build the steam a little bit. I try to like sing three or four songs before I leave,
[01:09:38] but that doesn't happen all the time. But those are my go-tos. But I will tell you as I've gotten older, Jeff, I really like, I call it Russian roulette. I let the crowd pick. Oh, wow. And then just go with it. Oh, it is. It is. It is 100%. One year in Viola, just a fun story to tell you all that happened to me. I did it and somebody yelled, baby got back. This was in Viola. And I was like, me being me, I'm like, okay, sure, let's do it. As I'm singing it, it's actually the first time
[01:10:08] I'm singing karaoke to this song. And I'm like, oh my God, these words. And then I have to, now I'm changing them up. Like I'm changing the lyrics just to be appropriate. You know, as a parent now, like at that time, I wasn't a parent yet. I was, me and Chris were still just dating. I'm like, holy crap. This is, our parents let us listen to this. You were not, you were not, I was not, you were not completely just off the top of the dome with Sir Mix-a-Lot. No, no,
[01:10:37] no, no. Not Sir Mix-a-Lot connoisseur on that. That'll be true. I'm going to come in there next time you do the I should know that karaoke and like yell, drowning pool. Oh God. Bodies hit the floor. That's my favorite song to listen to. If I had, that's my go-to song. If I am in a mood, I just need to hear something. And if I could have axes or plates to break, you know what I'm saying? Cause that's what that song, you know, I'm just saying, let the bodies hit the floor. What? Nothing's wrong with me.
[01:11:08] Nothing's wrong with me. Something's got to get, no, I know this dog. You have picked, the best song. We did not discuss this at all. It was tainted up, let it flow. Listen, my brother, if no one knows my brother, his name's Dick Walker and he was in a band called Corruption and the lead singer was Tim Mitchell and that's all they did. scream metal. And I was like, oh, I want to do that. But they said, it's all boy band. Oh, okay. Sorry. Sometimes you need a girl voice.
[01:11:37] But, you know, Evanescence was a good one. I went, you know, bring me to life, that stuff. But yeah, so that is, that's such a great song. I think I might sing that Friday night. Do it, please. Yeah. Let me, this goes out to Jeff Simmons. I'll be in the next one. This is my love ballot to you, bro. It would be just so great. Now we have a lot of fun here. We are going to take one more quick. Is there any more support? I think we're good.
[01:12:09] Let's get up, fair reminders, teasers, and things like that. And then end with a word of prayer. And again, if you guys have a prayer request, you would like to get out this week, please remind me and put it in our comments below so we can get it out there for you. And remember Warren County, keep it first. Ladies and gentlemen, McMinnville's biggest night of combat sports is here. This Saturday, September 19th at the Milner Recreation Center. And, of course, the fun kids karaoke begins at 7 p.m. at the Security Federal Savings Bank Antique Shed. Okay, welcome back, Warren First Night Through One. I'm Kelly Walker-Slaughter. I am Jeff Simmons. And this is the JK Show Live! Yeah, you just made a really funny joke. I did.
[01:14:34] I did. I don't think you were kidding, though. No, I'm not kidding. There's ways to make you look good, bro. I'm going to make it happen. Tuxedo shirts? Yeah, tuxedo shirts. Let's do it. It happens. But, no, it's plus October's happening, so I do a whole week of costing change. Oh, wow. I can't wait to do... I mean, look, I love being at the fair. I'm looking forward to doing more shows at the fair as we go through, including having the Queens on Friday. But I've been... I'm waiting for my Kimmy's Tea Room, baby. Oh, I know. That's next point. Yeah.
[01:15:04] Today, it's normally when we're at Zora's. Okay. Formerly known as Kimmy's. Yeah, sorry. You're okay. You're okay. Jeff and them are doing a phenomenal job. Usually, it's spilling the tea Tuesday. Okay. And so, I cannot wait for Jeff to have his fancy. That's what I was like thinking. Man, he's got to look like Devin Nair on Tuesday. So, I was like, I'm going to get him a sweater that's got an imprint. Or, you know what? The airbrush one. Yeah. We can get an airbrush. That'd be great.
[01:15:37] That'd be great. But, no. On a serious note, I want to say first and foremost, thanks to everybody that came on the show. The impromptu with Junior from Jay's Restaurant coming in and informing us. You know, I'm grateful that we can have conversations with people. You know, that's what it's all about here is transparency and just having conversations. And we want to thank everybody with the comments like tea in them. Like, maybe showing the contract. Maybe making that available and being more transparent.
[01:16:05] I don't know how all the legalities of that works. But, maybe I'm assuming since it, you know, you can probably ask for public records because it's open to the public to some degree, I'm assuming. Yeah. Well, I mean, you've done a lot of that with Warren First. Yeah. We're in the reasons why we were so eager to partner with you when we started out on our own with the Warren County Way. And, you know, Studio 605 is. You go to these meetings. All the time. I mean, you can go watch what's being said in these meetings by going back on Warren First and going on the YouTube page. Yeah.
[01:16:36] And seeing all that because it does matter. I mean, folks, I get it. I mean, we want you to go to the Warren County Way and read it. It's free. It's always going to be free. In fact, we have a fair special going on right now. Oh, my God. It's $0 for a lifetime. I love that. I shared that yesterday. I read that. I'm like, oh, my gosh. Who is this? And then I was like, oh, my God. That's so great. Yeah. Sorry. So we want y'all to read that. But at the same time, even if you're still skeptical, oh, I'm not getting the full story.
[01:17:04] You can get it right from the horse's mouth. Literally. When you watch those buildings and grounds committee meetings on the Warren First. And I think that's the thing, too. We're talking about it with Junior today. I'm not. I don't have. I have a little bit of skepticism of why the rates are different. Yeah. But I also feel like there's a I feel like there's going to be a time where we're going to find out whether it's Monday night or when Terry Bell or somebody comes and sits down with us that they're going to have a logical explanation for why it is.
[01:17:34] I'm just waiting to hear it. The only thing is I know we got the fair going on. We got guest booked. We're going to hear that explanation at some point and I'm going to listen to it. And maybe maybe it makes a lot of sense. Or maybe I'm going to go back and say, you know, maybe Cotton was right with this, the flat rate. But again, I don't want to get we we're going to get back into that. We will. But with that being said, make sure, you know, again, today, all the fair festivities. We want to give a shout out once again to our first of the fair queen, Lila Beatty.
[01:18:04] And then tonight is the last pageant going on. So make sure we already see people already saving their seats, their legal seats once again today. But it is what it is. I mean, it's tradition. You know, we see that all the time. It's tradition. We hope tradition does not die. And oh, before I forget, speaking of that, thank you to Dwayne Farnham. The band director came out with a statement yesterday. If you have not read that, please look on it. I know it's on y'all's page.
[01:18:33] It's on our page. Please read that statement, because at the end of the day, just like we said yesterday, and we'll say it again today. All these fair food booths are here for one reason, raising money for something. And just like the fair, this does not change the outlook for the the band boosters booth. This just, you know, again, it is what it is.
[01:18:58] It's just when people go on social media, which is something that we bring up a lot, you go down this ugly rabbit hole and then things get misconstrued or taken in the wrong way. Feeling when feelings get involved. Yeah. That can go one to one or two ways. And that's exactly what I mean. But thank you for Mr. Farnham for coming out with that statement and letting everybody know what it was.
[01:19:22] I mean, who would have thought coming out with a very logical, very sensible, very fair take would resonate with 99% of people? Go figure. I mean, Dwayne Farnham spoke a lot of truth in there. And again, to just go back. And if you if you're still miffed about the the chant being subdued at the fair this year, it's right down here.
[01:19:48] It's about it's about 100 yards or about 150 yards from where I'm at right now. Go to the band boosters booth tonight and them a donation. I'm sure they would be glad to accept it. I would love to know how much they how well they did last night. And remember, he did mention in there. I think I did read where because we made the comment. They're working towards to help the DeKalb County boosters because of all the drama that's going on allegedly with the band booster president right now.
[01:20:15] And so but he did address that in in the speeches or in the write up as well, the press release. Also to talking about one more time about Slugfest. We are giving away tickets, two tickets every night this week. So last night we awarded two tickets to Colin Sweeten and he has given us his name and number and you can pick up these tickets at Will Call. We do not have them on them. You got to go get to Slugfest and get those that day.
[01:20:44] We're going to keep commenting on that post that we've made. We've pinned it to the top of our page tonight. We're going to address another winner and then we'll announce it on Thursday. We'll actually announce two winners on Thursday show just to confirm. But again, I'm excited about Slugfest. We're going to be there. I'm going to be there with my girls. I've invited Jeff and the whole gang of Studio 605. We got front row seats is what I've been told. Thank you, Mandy.
[01:21:13] There's one of those like punch games over here where they have like the ratings. I think so. That may be my final giveaway or something on Thursday or Friday night. Whoever goes and sets the punch record wins two tickets. Maybe we can find that. Probably Thursday night because Friday I have adult karaoke. Oh, okay. So Thursday night. We might be able to do that. And then too, Christy Stubblefield in the comment section says, please park with Families and Crosses. Yes, you can park with it. It's only $5. It's premier parking at its best.
[01:21:41] And for anybody that's got those, you know, and I will still say this. For $75, which we did for Warner First, we can park there all week long. We have premier parking. It's nice. You know, so again, make sure you take advantage of it because when you donate the $75 or the $5, that goes to helping so many families. And remember, that's one thing everybody loves about the Warren County A&L Fair is it's free admission and free parking. And the parking that is not free, it's donated.
[01:22:10] I mean, you don't see that. We are one of the top three biggest fairs. I think we mentioned this yesterday in the state of Tennessee. We're competing with the state fair, guys. Can you? I just can't. But again, so many things to come. Thursday, we have another phenomenal show coming on. We're going to have one of the representatives from the Warren County Fair sitting with us. Is that correct? I believe we'll have Regan Kelsey here, Fair Board President. Hey, go big or go home, as I say.
[01:22:39] We should bring him a crown. Would he wear it? I don't know. He's a big CrossFit guy. I don't know if we can get a crown. Well, if we play some, let the bodies hit the floor, maybe. I don't know. He might be into that. Yeah, I think he is a Metallica-style guy. So, mate, what's the same? He can bring – hey, I'll tell you what, man. With Regan and all he does around here, if he just give us 10 minutes of his time, because I know he's busy, busy. Oh, he is. I appreciate whether he wears a crown or not. Exactly. I agree. I agree.
[01:23:07] Well, guys, we have such a crazy week ahead of us. Remember, if you want to see what's going on at the fair and then some, go to the Facebook page for the Warren County A&L Fair and follow them. And always remember, we need to keep this safe, happy, healthy. We're going to end with a quick word of prayer, which is being sponsored by Forged in Faith. Shout out to them. They have an amazing apparel for anyone, anybody. So, again, let's go to the Lord in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day that you've given us.
[01:23:35] We just want to lift you up as you guide and lead and direct us into what we're supposed to be doing for today and beyond. We also want to lift up, put our hands on all the sickness, God, with everybody being sick, whether it's cancer-related or whatever it is, God. Just be with them and make sure that you give the right doctors and nurses to help them to get happy and healthier as well, God. We also want to lift up all the past people that have passed away, God.
[01:24:02] Give the families, the friends, the workers comfort and peace through this transition of lost, God. Be with also, too, all the lost souls that cannot make a decision on what they need to do, Lord. And, you know, and please be with everybody here at the Warren County A&L Fair, whether it's volunteers, staff members, you know, the pageant queens, all that. And then some. Please be with us to make sure that we have a happy, healthy and fun time here at the Warren County A&L Fair.
[01:24:32] No drama, God. No drama, as I say. And in your name. Amen. Guys, take care. God bless. We here at Warren First. You can either choose to be a blessing or a curse. We here as well as the Simmons Says Show. So we want to be a blessing. Absolutely. And hopefully today was a blessing to you. And hey, if you got something going on, coming up, fixing to spit out, whatever it is, please let Jeff or I know. Because sometimes I also have to make a mention of this. I got ragged out the other day.
[01:24:59] My algorithm does not show me everything. And your algorithm is saying, if we don't talk about it, it's because we haven't seen it or heard about it. And that's just true. You can call us at 931-369-3050. Do y'all have a number? Yep. 212-1649. And again, you can email us as well. Facebook message us. We got community calendars. We will get back up into the community calendar Thursday.
[01:25:27] It's just getting hot and we got stuff we got to do right now. I got to get ready for kids karaoke, guys. Come on. Come on. Come on. And remember, Warren County. Keep it first. All right. We actually have a new phone number that I need.
